“This place is going to be a favorite of mine in 2024. I recently celebrated my birthday at Harrison during brunch. The service was exceptionally attentive and personal. The food was fantastic with ample portions with left-overs tasing just as good as when dined. The music was classic rock with a lot of great classic americana portraits and photos of nostalgia. The staff was particularly attentive to our needs and we never had to wait. I can't reiterate how impressed I was with this restaurant. I must also add that the prices are very reasonable for what you get. The Harrison is five stars.“
“I came here for a beer tasting class with an invite from a friend. It was my first time at this establishment. Upon entering, it's a very nice place to be inside. It's clean, airy, new, and a very casual environment. I don't know what to call this. It's like a tap room with wine and beer and a package store where you can purchase these products also to take home. It's a great place to kick back, especially if you live in the neighborhood and have a beer or two. But I was here for the class and for the cost of the class which was roughly $30 it's a great deal It's approximately a 2 hour class that covers a particular style of beer and numerous samples fron different breweries. I was more than satisfied with the number of samples that we went through. It's a communal table, and everybody gets along and enjoys themselves. I believe it's on the first Thursday of the month. The person who gave the class his name is Rory if my memory serves me right and he did a great job. It was an enjoyable evening and I hope to come back again for it. The beer store is interesting, to say the least. There are many brews here. But most of them, you've probably never run across at your local beverage store. Come here if you want to try some new variations on styles and small release beers. Note that you can buy the beers that you might have at the beer class.“
“This restaurant can lend itself to a very noisy environment. Yet today, with several tables taken, conversation was easy and able to be heard. We have been here several times for brunch and a couple of times for dinner. Delicious salad with greens, grape tomatoes and fresh red onions cut over a chicken milanese. Companions enjoyed their choices of crab cake benedict and a large cubano sandwich served with homemade shoestring fries. “My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. As Server Jamal was phenomenal, very professional, and understanding. I arrived with a Guest a bit late for a Sunday evening and still was treated like royalty. The Chef even came out to adhere to some requests which I found simply unparalleled. From start to finish it was an epic journey of culinary perfection and straight-out perfect Hospitality. “I adore this place. I have ordered the margarita pizza with broccoli for delivery many times, and it's probably the best pizza I have found in the Bronx. Wood-fired, soft yet grilled crust, fresh mozzarella, really good tomato sauce, and generous with the toppings. Dining in is also a great experience -- it's warm and homey inside, and you feel like you have left the grind of daily life and are settling in for a festive, really good meal. Doesn't feel like an Americanized Italian restaurant but rather a small pocket of Italy in the Bronx. “The new ownership is just what this Mineola institution needed to refresh its brand. The staff is friendly/laissez-faire in that typical "Long Island" way (if you live here, you get it). The bar side can be a bit cramped on busy nights but the restaurant side is very spacious. The copious number of TVs make it ideal for Sunday football and they do occasionally rent the space for private events. The menu has been updated and upgraded but still retains that bar food charm. The wings are of the well-done variety, if you like that and are plenty spicy (although, your taste may vary). I enjoyed the addition of hot pepper flakes on their hottest wings. The baked clams, giant pretzel and quesadillas are perfect apps while the full menu is surprisingly extensive with meatloaf, pot and Sheppard's pie, and a triple meat blend burger that knocks it out of the park. Prior to my last visit, it had been years since visiting Cornerstone and I'm glad I found my way back to this solid neighborhood pub.“
“Educational dinners in Queens typically do not work with my schedule as I only periodically work in the borough. However, my schedule aligned with a dinner being held at Il Toscano - and since the topic was of particular interest to me I made plans to attend. Two of my colleagues who were joining had great things to say about the restaurant, so I was really excited to check it out. There seems to be two Il Toscanos, one in Commack and the other here in Douglaston. The latter is conveniently located right by the LIRR - you can actually park in the station's lot and they'll validate it. Walking in, I was immediately greeted with old school vibes - the restaurant opened in 1985 and it doesn't look like the styling was changed much. That's a complement by the way - it doesn't look dated and has been kept up and refreshed in a very strategic way. In addition to the main level dining room, they have an upstairs dining room where we were seated. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that we had full access to their menu, and were able to order an appetizer, entree, and dessert. This is rare when going to one of these dinners, as I'm usually limited to certain menu items. They don't have a large menu - sections are marked off for apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. I decided to start off with the Mediterranean pulpo; I really enjoyed this - it was a sizeable octopus leg which was served with white beans and andouille sausage all in a tasty Romanesco sauce. All of the flavors worked really well together. For my main I went with the Semolina Crusted Jumbo Shrimp. The shrimp were lightly breaded and served with crispy leeks and risotto. The dish was good - the shrimp were a good size and the risotto was cooked well. At this point my colleagues and I all wanted to try each other's dishes so we did some swaps. One of them had ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese which was quite good. My other colleague had the lasagna which was made with a bolognese and béchamel sauces; this was good too - the béchamel was an interesting addition and the pasta was cooked al dente. For dessert I had their signature Napoleon which was super creamy but also light and airy; the flavor and texture were on point. Service was great, food came out a good pace in relation to the presentation and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a great time at Il Toscano - this was one of the best educational dinners I've been to in a while and part of that is due to the great experience that the restaurant provided. I would definitely return for another meal.“

From what I recall, pre-Covid Singh's was a lively restaurant where soca played through the speakers, a variety of Islanders would be liming and enjoying the vibes, and there was trini food and snacks galore. From Trini Chinese fried chicken, to doubles, to pone, chubby, shandy, and everything else that you'd want to enjoy. Since my first visit, I've remained loyal to Singh's.My last visit this past weekend, I didn't have the time to get over to their location, so instead I ordered on UberEats, grimacing at the $6.99 delivery fee. I placed my order at 6:30 a.m., since they open at 6 a.m. and received my order within an hour, delivered by a very polite young man. The food was packed very well - there was no spillage which I was expecting from the curry.I ordered pholourie (which came with TWO tasty tamarind sauces), 2 doubles, and one boneless chicken dhal puri roti. Everything tasted just like I remembered it to be. I packed some to take back with me to COS to extend the pleasure of the meal. Still, there was minimal spillage of the curry throughout my flights, so that was a huge win.Singh's thank you for your authentic Trini cuisine. She always gives great service no matter if she tending bar or doing her waitress Job. Last night March 1 she went above and beyond her job. She was doing double duties with a packed bar. As soon as we sat at our table she gave us our beers and menu. And despite how busy it was we got our food super fast. And our beers were never empty. I can't understate what an amazing employee she is. This is my local spot and every time we go there we never disappointed. Hell we leave the place feeling great especially after a long work week!“

“Ordered from this place for the 1st time and eventhough i only live about 10 minutes away it took the uber driver 23 minutes to get the order to me..... even with that being said, the food came hot and it was delicious. The only thing i wish is that they would supply the utensils needed to crack open the crabs but if you have some industrial scissors and a good hammer and forks you can make it work. I would absolutely recommend this place even for ordering if you live near by it is worth it. next time i want a seafood boil i will go to this location in person to be able to experience the restaurant itself, the staff, and the service.“
