“Was our first visit to this restaurant, is a very nice cozy place and service very friendly. I ordered an egg platter that came with 2 eggs, wheat toast and hash browns I pay extra for the chorizo I have no complaints about my food, my husband ordered hummus wrap it was a veggie wrap but I don’t know where was the hummus 🤭 I didn’t taste the hummus at all and I pay extra for chicken bc I wanted to combine the flavor of the “hummus wrap” with the chicken, so that’s my only complaint other than that everything else was perfect 👌“

“My God… Chongqing Lao Zao might be the best Chinese hot pot I’ve ever had. And if you’ve seen my other reviews, you know I’ve eaten at A LOT of hot pot places. 😂 This one seriously impressed me.

The entrance is actually pretty small and very easy to miss, but once you walk through that door… WOW. It feels like you just stepped into a Chinese palace. The decorations, the details, the atmosphere—everything is beautiful. Before we even started eating, I was already walking around looking at everything.

Then there’s the service. Next level. The servers were so attentive that they basically wouldn’t let us lift a finger. 😂 Plates cleared, broth checked, food taken care of—they were always there without making us feel rushed. That kind of service really changes the whole experience.

And of course, the hot pot itself was incredible. Rich, authentic flavors and exactly what I want when I’m craving real Chinese hot pot. Great food is one thing, but when you combine it with this atmosphere and this level of service, it becomes an experience.

I review a lot of hot pot restaurants and usually can find at least one thing I would change. This time, I really can’t.

“I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

They offer around 10–12 dosa varieties, rice dishes, and appetizers. Prices are very affordable, and the portions are moderate for the price, making it easy to try several items without spending much.

The service was good and fast. It’s an order-and-pick-up-over-the-counter kind of restaurant, making it a convenient option for a quick meal. There is plenty of seating in the basement, accessible by stairs or elevator. There’s also a small temple gift shop.

Parking can be challenging since it’s on a busy street, but a dedicated temple parking lot on Smart Street, one street over, has space for about 35–40 cars.

“I get a Caesar salad salad from Chopt at least three times a week. I usually get a delivery, but this time I came to the store and I might just switch to in store with how nice everyone was. For the appetizer we had tofu (crunchy and soft!) with peanut sauce, tom yum hot pot for the entire table, mango salad with salmon, green curry (which came in a cute little pot), and tom kha coconut milk soup with chicken for myself. Our entire meal was so filling and comforting. The drinks and desserts looked extremely good on the menu, but pricy for us. I would say that everything we ordered was worth the bill, though! They have some outdoor seating with shade, which I’m sure is very nice in mild weather, but the inside was so vibrant and cozy, full of colors and music. I am definitely coming here again!“
