“I have been a customer of Austin’s Ale House for many years, I know them well they know me well. This year I decided to give the excellent and highly favored family cooking team a break and had Austin’s Ale House cater our Christmas Dinner. I went with the ham dinner for 10 to feed 7 people🤣. The ordering was done with ease and so was the pick up. The family did a preliminary tasting...... LOVED .IT and whatever we have left after the “taste test” will have to serve as our Christmas Dinner. Since the taste test was so aggressive we may need to supplement what’s left with a few cheese omelets 🤣. We enjoyed it so much there was much talk about it becoming the new family tradition. THANK YOU AUSTIN’S ALE HOUSE AND MEREY CHRISTMAS........ PS I’m going to need one of those backyard igloos in a day or so. See you then 🎄❤️“

“I absolutely love this place! The food and drinks are AMAZING (Philly cheesesteak Bao Buns are a must, as is the Henny Colada Slushie), the music is on point and the staff is attentive! It’s a guaranteed good time, whether you’re going for a few drinks and good music or to watch a game/fight night. I can’t rave about this place and staff (shout out to the manager Daisy, who is amazing!) enough!!“

“Donovan’s Pub is owned by 2 Woodside gentlemen. The staff is amazing friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. The food is absolutely delicious and great portions. They have the Best Burger in NYC. It’s the best burger I have ever had. They have awesome live music every weekend on their brand new stage. Their lineup of musicians is the best around. I’ve been going there for 50+ years and I highly recommend Donovan’s Pub in Woodside NY.“

“The food is amazing! We had the mussels, Brussels sprouts, artichoke hearts, chicken, shepherd’s pie, fish sandwich, and burger. The drinks were wonderful and the ambiance was so much fun. Really had a laugh at the bathroom with all the googly eyes.“

“I went to The Harbor Light with my grandfather who is hard of hearing. I cannot tell you how accommodating the staff was. We originally sat in an area where he was unable to hear well. The owner Bernadette and the server Annie opened up a whole other section in the restaurant for us that was quieter. They were so kind and we enjoyed a lovely lunch. I would definitely recommend this place. They truly care about their patrons. Thank you Harbor Light!“

“Best fries ever! The burgers use to be good... Idk if the changed management or workers but, definitely not the same as a year ago when I first came here. Vegetables are not fresh & not enough quantity. I had to ask for a good amount of veggies on my burger since the last time I went there all they gave me was a leaf of lettuce (the core!) & 3 strips of onions. Ps Spicy mayo sauce is good“

Was packed but didn’t seem crowded, clean, good seating and the overall setup is really cool. Then I realized there was an entire back room- we posted up on the high top booth for hours and had a great time. If I was local I would absolutely live here.“

Friendly atmosphere, service is very attentive. Love trivia nights and live music on Saturdays. So far is my favorite place to go with friends and family. “Wu Lou Lounge is one of those spots that feels a little sketchy when you first pull up, but that’s part of the charm. It’s old school, unpretentious and very much its own vibe.

Security is thorough and effective. Be prepared for a full pat down and bag check, even at 5pm for happy hour. They take it seriously. The staff is cool in that classic NYC way. Not Southern hospitality sweet, but warm, direct and welcoming.

The food is fresh, tasty, piping hot and highly affordable, $.60cent wings on Tuesday. Definitely a strong point. Drinks come in smaller cups, but they start at $5, which is unheard of these days. It’s also one of the last remaining spots that still allows indoor smoking, if that’s your thing.

The music is solid and keeps the energy up. The crowd is fun, outgoing, and far from stiff or bougie. This is not a fancy baller lounge, so dress and move accordingly. You don’t need anything shiny or expensive to have a good time here (wink wink leave the bling & mink coat home). Just come ready to enjoy yourself.

“Rippers is located in a concession area in rockaway beach so it is a fun, Open atmosphere consist of picnic tables outside under a covered area. I find that the food is very good. Burgers chicken fries. I can just have fries .. I think that they are excellent. They used to sale a whole fish that was divine. There are drinks , wine beer. They often play music and have live entertainment.. they typically close in late summer for winter.“

“Cool places. I'm into local dive bars and that's exactly what this place is but everyone there was pretty nice. The bartender Hector is a good buy and pretty funny as well. I will definitely go back to this bar when I am in the area. I definitely recommend it.“

Loved this local bar — the vibe was friendly, open, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The bartender was attentive, prices were decent, and the space was clean with a nice mix of high tables in the back and low tables up front. A handful of locals were gathered around the bar, which added to the charm.

We were really glad to find this spot especially when it started raining on the beach. It was a rainy Friday midday, not busy at all, and we genuinely enjoyed ourselves.

Definitely recommend stopping in for a drink. Looking forward to coming back whenever we’re in the neighborhood!“

“We recently hosted a baby shower for our daughter and son-in-law at Lavender Lake, with 65 of our closest friends and family, and it was absolutely perfect.

The staff were incredible from start to finish—so helpful during set-up and consistently attentive to our guests throughout the event. They made everything feel seamless and stress-free.

The food was delicious, and the team did a wonderful job keeping everything fresh and fully stocked. At the end, they even provided containers so guests could take home leftovers, which was such a thoughtful touch.

But everything from basic appetizers to fries to shepherds pie to sandwiches to soup is amazing.Overall cheap prices and reliably open even in new years day, Xmas, Xmas eve etc. Kitchen open crazy late as well. “High expectations, but not impressed with this visit. Wednesday early dinner , 7/23/25, 5pm.
No issue with availability and service, very attentive.
Chicken dish with sauce ok, but asparagus flimsy and green bean sized while mashed potatoes served ice cream scoop and lacking in flavor.
Long awaited favorite of mine, fish and chips.
Fish better than most in area, still lacking in wow factor while the (chips) were a flimsy mess , no crisp or seasoning.
As to beer, Stella was fine but Blue Moon dark and flat.

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“
