Culture Lab LIC Sandwich Shop • $$

“I attended an event that had rented this space. It is very clean, well lit, everything with the space seemed to be working well. It is in a complex that faces a parking lot. My only suggestion would be better signage as to where the entrance is at. (Hint: look for the blue door)“

“I came here for a bite with one of my friends after a morning workout class and it wasn't a bad spot! Located just on the outskirts of central LIC, it's a bit out of the way, but not hard to get to. They have some bar/window seating, but no tables. It's much more of a casual pick-up spot, if anything. Service was fairly quick.

Their menu contains banh mi, spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, and a variety of drinks (as well as baked goods in their displays). I got their grilled chicken and pork banh mi and my friend got their pork banh mi. Overall, it was better than I thought and not bad at all! The bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and super warm. They were generous with the portions and gave lots of veggies, which I loved (I wish their pickled carrots and radish were just a bit crunchier though). The marinade for the meats was also well done! I would note that they used American mayo (as opposed to Vietnamese mayo) for the banh mi, which was super noticeable to me. Overall, not a bad spot for Vietnamese banh mi in LIC.“

ALIDORO Sandwich Shop • $
28-17 Jackson Ave, Long Island City

“Not much of a vibe (but cool for the small space, and good for people-watching), but really great service and the sandwiches are just tempting and good. For the next time, I would add extra cheese and sauce on my sandwich, and I might even make my own.“
