“I don't know which came first, the Tik Tok calling this place the best bagel in NYC or the swarms of young and hot fashionable people flocking to try it out. This place is like if Aimé Leon Dore decided to do a deli pop-up and sell cream-cheese bagels for $16 a pop. This place is NOT a diner, it's Meow Wolf for young people who love saying yeah I'm from BROOKLYN whenever they go back home to Wisconsin. $40 for a travel mug by the way check the picture if you don't believe me.
I know what you're thinking: HATER ALERT. Whatever. Go and buy an overpriced shirt or tote bag and wear it at your next anti-capitalism protest.
Oh yeah the bagel was delicious but definitely not worth SIX TEEN dollars I don't care how cute the vibe is.“

“I live out of state haven't had a great NY bagel it lived up to my expectations and the salmon and cream cheese but when I went to pay I fell over w the price of $19.00 !! The inflation is crazy. The guy on the line ahead of me bought only 6 bagels on tub of cream cheese and the bill was $32.00!!! So yes delicious yes tasty but only if you want to break the bank.
Vegetarian options: It's disturbing how much food cost today.
Parking: I enjoyed the food and really appreciated the fast service.“

“I went on a Saturday late in the morning and this spot definitely gets busy as the line was out the door (mainly because the place itself is very small). If you’re waiting outside after ordering, they’ll come out and bring your food to you. I got the Shepardi wrap along with the frozen coffee. Every bite was delicious and I didn’t want it to end. The coffee was interesting as it’s made with tahini which you get mainly in the after taste. I liked it but it might not be for everyone. Idk about you but $25 for breakfast is far from ideal so I would say this is more of once in a while a treat yourself type of meal. Will come back in a few months.“

“Tucked away in the heart of Brooklyn, there's a hidden gem where time seems to stand still, and every sandwich tells a story. For 47 years, Victor has been behind the counter, crafting the kind of sandwiches that make you rethink what you knew about food. This isn't just a deli; it's an institution, a love letter to the neighborhood.
When I walked in, I told Victor I'd come back after nine years, hoping the place hadn't changed. Without missing a beat, he smiled, leaned in, and asked, "What do you feel like today?" No menu was needed. He whipped up a chicken cutlet sandwich that was somehow exactly what I needed, as if he'd known me all my life. The cutlet was perfectly crisp, the bread fresh and warm, and every bite was a symphony of flavors that only comes from decades of passion and practice.
And just when I thought the experience couldn't get any better, he slid a free cannoli across the counter, accompanied by a story so rich you'd swear it had its own secret ingredients. Victor is the kind of guy who knows that food isn't just about what’s on the plate; it’s about the conversation, the shared moments, the humanity.
If you ever find yourself in Brooklyn, hungry for something real, something unforgettable, you know where to go. Just ask for Victor. He’ll take care of the rest.“

“10/10 on all fronts. Great selection of items for purchase, a lovely staff and the best heros in Brooklyn. I’m not kidding, the cutlets just by themselves have actual seasoning and are so good. Sandwich creations are always perfectly balanced Great desserts and just a great neighborhood friendliness that is so missed in this area. Will always return.“

“Another cheap eat rec in 8 Avenue, Brooklyn. Ba Xuyên is a neighborhood favorite for affordable and homey vietnamese food. The shop is operated by some vietnamese aunties, serving a variety of banh mi, authentic street snacks and fruit shakes.
I’ve already been there at least three times whenever I’m craving for banh mi or feeling broke.
*Banh Mi Pate Thit Nguoi (Combination #1)
Banh mi is priced up to $8 in good portion size and hearty fillings. Every banh mi has a base of cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrots and green pepper. My go-to banh mi order is the bestselling combination #1. It has ham, pork, pork teriyaki & BBQ with paté and butter. It is so filling that I can get two meals out of it.
*Jackfruit Shake
I can’t leave this place without getting their milkshake. They blend actual fruits into the shakes, giving it a natural and sweet flavor. They have tropical fruit flavors like lychee, taro, papaya and durian. I heard good things about their avocado shake, but I always stick to my favorite jackfruit shake.“

“Impeccable service, excellent food, and reasonable prices.
Personally I love the Parisian sandwich. Bread is always on point (which is increasingly hard to find), and the sandwich is simple yet incredibly flavorful, which I often put down to the quality of ingredients.
If you're looking for an authentic, well-run French sandwicherie, this is the place.
Thanks again“

“My older family members came to NY to visit from Chicago. I went to order 5 Dinner plates for the family that were visiting and 3 more, for myself, partner and my mom. When I return wit food, we all began to eat. NONE OF US WAS SATISFIED! POTATO SALAD WAS PRETTY OK. THE MAC N CHEESE, HORRIBLE! THE MACARONI SALAD, WATERY AND DISGUSTING AF, NO TUNA ADDED. COLLARD GREENS , NOT SEASONED LIKE REAL BLK SOUL TASTE.. NASTY! UNLESS PPL ARE USE TO EATING BLAND AND OR NOT REAL BLACK PPL COOKING.“

“I like the old school vibe of this place. Like days gone by. Roast beef and fries were really good. Au jus made the sandwich. The other people with me got plain hamburgers which were just ok. Def visit this place for a retro feel of yesteryear. Parking is tight. Tiny lot next to the building. Order outside at the window foe take out. Inside is just waiter and sit down service which we went for. Another check off for me for a list of must try places.
Parking: Very small tight lot“

“Let me start by saying I don't eat roast beef. This is what their famous for, so I didn't have this specialty. I was there for a meeting. My partners had roast beef.
I decided to go "safe" and get the waffle fries with cheese and chicken fingers. I paid for everyone's meal so there was also a free pizza. The pizza is pretty much a small size, But what's the other food it was enough.
The chicken fingers are a smaller size and mine were hard fried. Not the soft kind of bite. I opted for barbecue sauce which was actually a name brand sauce which is pretty nice to see. The fries and the cheese sauce were disappointing. The sauce was very salty in the fries weren't that great. They will thin and kind of soft. The chicken also was salty on the outside. They were okay
The pizza would be a great hit I believe for children. Especially it under $5 a pie they're a great budget option if you have children around. As for adults, Nah. A very thin crust with goopy cheese.
Now for the aesthetics. Awesome. As soon as you walk in it takes you back into time. Looks very old like something from the '50s. And this isn't in a bad way. This is actually really cool. I like the sign that looks old school and even the decor looks like it hasn't been refreshed a lot. There's definitely ample seating but I know it gets really busy. People are pretty much in and out though. We stayed about an hour and no one bothered us to leave.
Now to be fair, my friend had the roast beef and he said it was really good in fact he's the one who recommended this place. He got roast beef with a side of gravy. He pretty much finished two sandwiches. There was like three bites he couldn't finish. My other partner didn't talk a lot while eating which means he was really enjoying it.
Another great feature this place has over a lot of other fast food restaurants is the fact that they cook to order. With that I order took a little bit longer than you would at a McDonald's or a chain of that nature. However it was well worth the wait because you know they were cooking it fresh and right on point.
My friend told me I couldn't come here without getting orange aid. It was really good. It was a mix of fresh orange and fresh lemon. Like a orange lemonade. But it was really tasty. I appreciate the fact that you can taste real ingredients in that orange aid unlike when you go to fast food restaurants for everything tastes artificial.
And last which probably should have been first is the price. I don't know how they keep the prices so low, but they are really fair for modern times and especially this economy.
This is a really cool spot and a Brooklyn gem. I really hope they are able to maintain and survive another 54 years“

“Came here because I searched to see what Kirstyn Brewer was cooking these days, as I really liked her menus when she was at Hunky Dory and Wynona. Apparently she provides culinary direction to this place now, per LinkedIn. The sandwiches were Kirstyn level, just great. Thank you.“

“Not mad about it at all!! Only good things to say about the italien combo sandwich. Came here for a quick bite and shared the Sando with my partner. Here is the breakdown.
Italien sandwich: 10/10
-Meat to bread ration was fantastic. Not to thick not too skinny.
- sauce was the perfect sauce. Nice little kick, creamy and briney. What could be bad!
- size was generous and fre$hhh.
Defs coming back to try them ALL!“

“Fantastic. A visit to the iconic 'New York deli' is a must when visiting NYC. It is normally very crowded, so come early and expect a wait - but it is definitely worth it, as the food, service and over all experience is first class. Terrific.“

“Wanted to try this place. Worked a 12 hour shift the day before and was really craving an amazing Italian sub to eat while i watched tv and absolutely rotted on my couch to recover. This was the only place that i could had banana peppers which is crucial for an italian sub. If you don’t do banana peppers im sorry but you’re doing it wrong. As soon as i walked in, the vibes were excellent. Price point was great especially for what you get, subs are huge and it comes with chips and i got a black cherry soda. I love that they have these cards you fill out, it honestly makes it so much easier especially when you get a lot of toppings like i do. It was absolutely delicious. I’m not even supposed to eat gluten and dairy but when i need to have a cheat day this place is on my list. So good. Will be coming back. And the people working are super kind.“

“Taku Sando elevates the simple delight of a tamago sandwich to an art form. My online order of a tamago sando was prepared ahead of the expected time, a pleasant surprise indeed. The milk bread enveloping the filling was exceptionally soft, offering a delicate contrast to the subtly flavored, creamy tamago. This dish is a testament to the power of quality ingredients and culinary finesse. A must-try for those who appreciate refined simplicity.“

“I appreciated this Hashwich. It's a big ol' SEC w/ hashbrown in it, so large that I needed a fork & knife. I also liked the genuinely spicy chipotle mayo. I also like Greenpoint for the sheer amount of joggers in sheer clothing. Must be a pain to run down Manhattan Avenue, though.“

“I live nearby and am a frequent visitor. Today, while eating my usual order of a grilled chicken banh mi I decided it was time to leave a review. It really is a perfect sandwich. And Henry's is such a gem in a neighborhood that can otherwise feel so expensive. Its super reasonably priced, hole in the wall, no frills establishment that reliably + consistently serves excellent food. Go here!! & get the taro bubble tea too“

“Went here for the first time today. Ordered the Malaka sandwich. It was delicious, the mozzarella tasted so creamy and fresh. I need to know what mozzarella they use or do they make it themselves, it was so good. Looking forward to coming back to try another sandwich. Bring cash, because it's Cash Only.“

“This place nails the basics a meat-and-potatoes fella wants. But what's really remarkable is that when there was a hiccup with my order *the owner himself delivered the food to ensure it all worked.* They seem a bit dysfunctional, but the owner cares with all his heart. There is real potential here.“
“The new general manager (forgot to ask him for his name) is so kind and thoughtful! The store accidentally forgot to deliver one of the three sandwiches I ordered and he was so apologetic when I called about it and not only re-delivered all three sandwiches, but also sent a bunch of free cookies and chips. Such a kind thing to do!“

“I wish the rolls had more character, but the two sandwiches I've had with all the fixings (Mike's Style) were quite good and tasty. (Turkey and Provolone and Tuna and Provolone) Try the place. You'll be surprised how good these sandwiches are for a chain operation.“

“I had Charlie’s before out of state so I was skeptical to try the Brooklyn location but I was impressed . I ordered a small thinking it was gonna be mid but this cheesesteak made my day from the first bite . I wish it was more saucy but it still was so good . I felt like I was missing ketchup but I still finshed the whole thing without it. Idk if it’s cuz I was hungry or what but I regret not getting the bigger size ? it’s good tho.“

The Camembert cheese is to die for. There are so many unique and interesting things available, definitely worth a stop here. We made it a point to come back and stock up on cheeses for home. “The best pastrami sandwich that I’ve had. Maybe I’m biased because I love baguette and the baguette here is warm & crunchy with very little extra bread inside. The spicy mayo and grilled onion are great as well.Pricier than normal but it is Kosher so that makes sense. Cant wait to come back to try pulled beef.I wish they have a bar so we can eat inside during NY winter ?“

“I loved the breakfast sandwich that I got here! My go-to at any deli is a BEC with avocado and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve had. Bacon was crisp, avocado was perfectly ripe and I got half of a large avocado, roll was chewy, and I added chipotle mayo for a little kick. It’s a good size BEC and this came out to $5. Can’t complain at all! And everyone who worked there was very kind. Will be back soon.“

“There's a reason this place has been in business for over 100 years. Worth the trip to Red Hook just to eat a sandwich.
