“I had been craving fufu and groundnut soup and knew it was exactly what I wanted before stepping into a new age for my birthday. I called Eleanor’s bar and restaurant to make sure they were still open, and Eleanor answered the phone herself. She took my name, assured me I still had time to come, and when I arrived, she was waiting for me with my food already served. The fufu and groundnut soup was fresh, flavorful, and an easy 10/10. The soup was packed with meat, making it even more satisfying. I also tried the Mango Margarita, and it was another 10/10. If you’re unsure what cocktail to order, I highly recommend it!
This was my fifth visit to Eleanor’s bar and restaurant , and every single experience has been amazing. The food is consistently delicious, the drinks never disappoint, and the music always creates the perfect vibe. Eleanor’s bar and restaurant has truly become my hidden gem. Eleanor is always so warm and welcoming, which makes every visit even more special.
Thank you for making my pre-birthday fufu experience one to remember. I can’t wait to be back!“

“I come from Germany and I have rarely eaten such good lamb. Incredibly delicious 🤌. Perfectly marinated. Respect!
And one of the homemade drinks (I had the hibiscus juice) is also delicious.
Friendly staff, great guests, and the restaurant looks very cozy and inviting.“

“Burger Baby by Wonder absolutely exceeded my expectations! I had the truffle burger, and it was incredible perfectly cooked, so juicy, and packed with flavor. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. Wonder also has cookies that were just as amazing. My son absolutely loved them and couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. It’s definitely a place we’ll be coming back to.
I highly recommend Burger Baby“

“Nice family restaurant. My first visit & taste of S. African french cuisine. Not too many place can offer good food at a reasonable price. This place does. Service was good. I had the Escargot & Tunisian Sausage. Both good. I like french food, but don't have it often since it's very rich. My hubby enjoyed the broiled Lamb chop. We shared the chocolate mousse torte. It was perfect, not too sweet. The flavors of the meal was spot on. Not overly salted, sweetened nor was there msg like most restaurants these days. Overall, I would go back & recommend this little gem. Our friend, long time patrons of La Baracka, had the AYCE lunch, which they enjoyed.“

“Yopcity has great service and an amazing atmosphere. The food is top tier, real Ivorian cuisine with the authentic taste of the motherland. The service was excellent, I was served by a lady called Madina if I’m not mistaken. Great lady tbh.“

“I visited this restaurant during a recent trip to New York City, and it was truly a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and top-notch. The staff made us feel welcome and took the time to guide us through the menu.
While I already enjoy certain West African dishes, my family and I are primarily American food eaters, so trying several new items was definitely outside of our comfort zone. I’m so glad we did because everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, authentic, and unforgettable.
The highlight of the meal was the Red Snapper. My 9-year-old daughter completely fell in love with it and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was! It’s not always easy to find a restaurant where every member of the family enjoys the food, but this place exceeded our expectations.
Between the incredible food, outstanding service, and welcoming atmosphere, we have absolutely no regrets about trying something new. This restaurant has earned a permanent spot on our list and will be a staple of our future NYC visits. Highly recommend!“

“Food is very flavorful and spicy enough to satisfy my spicy cravings. Portions for the amount of money definitely doesn't match, very cheap with the meat especially. The Uber menu doesn't seem to show all that they serve in restaurant as per coworker.“

“Arrived just before 15:00 and met a calosed and locked door. I called their phone number and it rang and rang. We tried knocking and after a few minutes a woman arrived, also tried calling, and began banging on the restaurant window. She mentioned something about Ramadan being the reason they weren't open. Not too long after her banging, someone came to open the door and as we tried following the woman in she closed the door on us. The guy who opened the door from the inside opened the door again and said we could come in. We quickly learned that the woman worked there as she went straight to the back room. Confused and a little annoyed, we sat. My partner and I were the only ones there. A server approached us and said they were only offering three things for the menu, which was different from online. After clarifying that there were indeed only three things on the menu, I ordered the jollof with fish and the goat in peanut soup and rice dish. Before the food arrived, I asked the server if she could turn on the heat, as it was not on. Mind you, this was a Wednesday in February in Harlem. She turned on the heat and the TV, which was played news at a moderate volume. The waters and food came and it was delicious. Plenty rice with the goat and peanut soup, good ratios on the jollof plate. Smaller rice grains than I am used to, but thoroughly enjoyed my plate and taking bites of the jollof.
I appreciated there being a container for washing in the bathroom. I was given $3 back in cash, something about being overcharged on my card? Shrug. No menu so I don't know what the total should have been / what the deal was with that. Overall, I'd go back for the food and hope for being true to opening hours, attending to the phone, and having a menu.“
“Absolutely love this place! We really needed something like this where you can order from different restaurants all in one spot. My food was perfectly packed, incredibly delicious, and super fast. I’m so glad one opened nearby. I used to go to the one near my job on 23rd Street, so this is super convenient!“

“We stumbled on this place your local home-cooked. The food is great. They just need to get more organized. We came there with friends raving about the food place our orders and they came back stating they ran out. We had to wait. It was late on a Saturday. If you’re going there go early before they run out of food.“

“I came here around a decade ago. They did not have a buffet back then, as many of the reviews here state. I remember liking this food. The restaurant was empty when it was new, mostly because the neighborhood folks couldn't afford restaurant food. But I noticed a large staff, which gave me the impression of whoever opened this spot, did it with love.
I'm Latin X of Caribbean Colombian and Coastal Ecuadorian decent. I came here to say, many Colombians would be shocked to find what Colombians believed were their cultural foods, right here in a West African restaurant. I remember seeing a whole wall stacked with just bunuelos, Colombian style. When I asked, oh you guys sell Colombian food too? They all looked at me like I was crazy, even though I was standing right next to the bunuelos, slowly realizing, the bunuelo isn't Colombian, it is actually West African as they told me it was their nationality's bread. I just can't remember if they said that bread originated in Uganda or Angola.
I have recently moved back to NYC. I think I will return to this place and find out. Fellow Colombians, come and check this place out. Find out where your grandparent's cooking magic originated from. Wepa!“

“After a long walk from the train, up and down Morrisania's hills, this Bronx West African joint is the light at the end of the tunnel. Each dish is served simply, but somehow magically. Along with the friendliness and enjoyment of sharing the space with all the other customers, the experience is enough to call it one of the top restaurants in the borough.“

“It’s been years since I ate African food and I wanted so bad . Came across this spot. I order okra soup with goat and fufu and a grilled tilapia. I did really care for the okra and fufu was different and the goat meat was very very tough. The tilapia WAS AMAZING OMG SO DAMN GOOD I WILL BE BACK .“
