What a hidden gem!
The food was incredible — fresh, flavorful, and definitely not frozen. The ambience and vibe were on point, with great energy and a live DJ setting the perfect mood. Honestly, anyone saying otherwise must be used to eating caviar or something exotic, because this place is the real deal.

It’s rare to find a spot that nails the food, music, and atmosphere and keeps prices so reasonable. Plus, it’s located right inside a golf course — how this place isn’t packed every night, I have no idea. Highly recommend checking it out before everyone else discovers it!“

“Excellent coffee shop on Long Island, come for the caffeine and stay for the community. We stopped by my mom’s favorite coffee shop mid-afternoon, because the family was trying to kill me with caffeine deprivation. The oat milk latte was carefully made and smooth and easy to drink. The interior is great, for a brief moment in time you are anywhere in the World with roll up garage doors, fooseball and a clean setting for evening entertainment. I’ll be back next time I’m visiting!“

“My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. The chicken is fresh, soft and cut into small bites. I always order chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, or chicken tikka pizza. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. They’re opening a second place in Manhattan. We’re getting closer to Yonkers!! The drinks are awesome too. Barbra and Louis work behind the bar. They’re friendly and great bartenders.“

“The Snug and City Island Diner are true local treasures. They’re owned by the same wonderful people and share a kitchen, but each has its own vibe and hours — and together they’re unbeatable.

The fully loaded chili here is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, hearty, perfectly seasoned, and also shows up in their nachos, which makes them next-level comfort food.

One of my favorite things? They have a secret menu (no longer advertised) with specialty grilled cheese sandwiches and specialty hot dogs — and we absolutely love it. The Tuscan Melt (no onion) is perfection, and the Reuben Dog is unforgettable. With the hot dogs you get two, and you can mix and match styles, which is such a fun and generous touch.

At The Snug, my go-to drink is a black & tan, which pairs perfectly with the cozy, neighborhood pub feel. Over at the diner, my favorite dish is the Corned Beef Hash breakfast — classic, satisfying, and done exactly right.

Beyond the food, what really sets these places apart is the people. Every server is genuinely kind, welcoming, and deeply plugged into the City Island community. You feel like a regular even on your first visit.

The Crowd, I love because it was the older crowd.(with younger Group too) I’m a 69 year old woman (don’t look it) loved how everyone was dressed, the restaurant Was very pleasant , the host walked around greeting and talking and asking “Is everything OK?”. MY COMPLAINT IS !!!!

“Came here yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner. We ordered the Indonesian veggie samba, California sushi rolls and spicy tuna sushi rolls. The food was excellent. Service was good. For real, low key best family summer spot on the island. Entirely kid friendly tidal beach with more wildlife that you’ll know what to do with. Being a net and bucket if you have toddlers. Food is epic and beach side, bar is a MOVIE in a bait and tackle shop.

I was looking for a good place to go and I think I found the best place in Flushing for a Kentucky boy or anyone looking for friendly place with ice cold beer. I love the atmosphere of this place. Everyone made feel welcome and it was just like my favorite place in Louisville. It was a special night on July 25th, a birthday celebration for a long time patron, with great food (on the house), reduced drink and beer prices and a great band named FOG - Four Old Guys - really great music and musicians. Last, but not least, everything said about Kinszee is 100% true and I met Paddy, the owner, and felt like I already knew him. Great guy! I highly recommend this place.“

“Great local "dive" bar lol. Good atmosphere, pool table, dart board, jukebox, TVs, bar area and tables. Nicole was a great bartender. Not over crowded, but enough people there that y has some life. We don't go out that often anymore, but it's good to have a local watering hole in the neighborhood when we do.“
