The best Asian food I have ever eaten. I had a lovely diner, good service and advice about food and cocktail 🤩
This intimate East Village bar has such a cool, minimalist Japanese-inspired atmosphere with dim lighting, sleek design, and a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe. Cocktails are incredibly creative and perfectly balanced (the yuzu sake sour and the smoked sesame old-fashioned were highlights). Shared some small plates like the crispy rice and octopus, both delicious. Staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. Total around $30-50 per person. One of the best cocktail bars in the neighborhood!

BAR GOTO is a cozy Japanese-style bar in the Lower Eastside, offering a delightful experience. With prompt service and a fantastic vibe, the bar serves phenomenal drinks from high balls to shochu. It's a great alternative to other popular spots, with a well-balanced and complex Hojicha old-fashioned being a highlight. The staff is friendly and helpful, creating a top-notch atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. The place fills up fast, especially on weekend nights, so arriving early is recommended because they don’t take reservations. Customers have enjoyed a variety of drinks, including off menu tequila drinks with foam and a light green color, as well as the Far East Side drink. The bar is known for its excellent drinks, like the clarified miso cocktail, which balances salty miso with a hint of caramel sweetness. During summer, they also serve perfect kakigori, made with clear imported Japanese ice and a special shaving device to create fluffy, flaky ice shards. Overall, BAR GOTO offers a warm, lively environment with great drinks and attentive staff.
