It’s the best bagel spot in the hood. That tourist spot a few blocks north is absolutely not worth standing in line with people from the Midwest for over an hour. This isn’t the depression, I’m not waiting in no bread line when Broadway never disappoints.
This is my go to local bagel place. Sometimes the egg can be over cooked, but overall the service is efficient and the bagels are good. There are bagels, pastries, coffee, and other deli sandwiches. I usually order the SEC or the BEC which are both solid. Upper west side is known to have absolute bagels as the best bagel place, but this is the place I go to when I don't want to wait 30 mins. The bagels are MASSIVE & the spreads are properly savory. Both combinations were delicious: I liked the scallion/everything more & my husband liked the jalapeño sundried tomato/onion...so you really can't go wrong with either! Service was friendly, relatively fast (they're busy on a Saturday around 11/12 & that's to be expected), and the value for price was great. We'll definitely return!
