the soba has a firm bite to it, almost like aldente pasta. i got the tanuki cold soba, which has tempura bits, seaweed, and grated daikon. i wish they had actual tempura to go with the noodles though, not just the bits.
This is perhaps my favorite restaurant in all of NYC. It’s a cash only Japanese Soba spot that specializes in cold buckwheat noodle dishes and other Izakaya.
Favorite things on the menu are the Cold Bhuta Shabu with Sesame Sauce (Thinly Sliced Pork), or the Sukiyaki Soba (Thinly Sliced Beef). So refreshing and savory; the perfect summer dish. I used to study and work near Cocoron so it has a very nostalgic place in my heart. That being said, it's been a decade since I last dined here and a lot seems to have changed within that time (although the fact that they are walk in and cash only has not changed).
