After breakfast at a local diner, I walked up to have another coffee at Madame BONTE on 84th street between 1st and 2nd. Street level is rather small with just a few stools on the right. Order counter is in the middle. Then I went downstairs to the wine bar area where there are lots of tables and chairs. There is also a good sized bar for the evening wine business.

Gothic by Design, as the name implies, was intentional: created to serve either the clergy or the prince. Aren’t we glad neither of those worlds exists in the same way today?

Based on the reviews, Madame Bonté Café & Wine Bar is a lovely cafe and a hidden gem. The coffee is a favorite in the city, with options like Capaccino, almond milk and chai lattes, and their own oatmilk. The atmosphere is calm and serene. The street level is small with a few stools, but downstairs there is a huge wine bar area with lots of tables and chairs, plus a good sized bar for evening wine business. There is also a small back door patio and a beautiful little garden. The service is warm and impeccable, and the staff have great memories. The food is delicious, with specific meals like pizza, chicken, and olives. It is a nice place to sit, grab drinks and bites, and overall a great experience. It is a family's favorite local coffee shop, and a favorite NYC coffee shop.
