The fusion of flavors, the delicate and meticulous work, the presentation; all truly excellent. And their wine list is equally impressive. The staff were all really lovely. The place is small, so I do advise making a reservation. Sit in the corner window table if you can! It’s delightful. The menu is seasonal, so what I posted may not be on the menu when you dine. Already been recommending Justine’s to friends. Go check it out!“

The restaurant’s sleek, modern interior and open kitchen immediately impress upon entry. The tasting menu is a carefully curated array of dishes with refined flavors, with the duck, toast, foie gras, and nian gao standing out as memorable highlights. The flavors here are subtly layered and delicate, showcasing a restrained elegance that even extends to the desserts, which are perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Service at Yingtao is exceptional, among the best I’ve encountered. The front-of-house team is attentive and professional, and a special mention goes to Ria, whose deep knowledge of the menu enriched my experience by offering thoughtful insights and explanations. “Though we enjoyed our meal at HAGS, our experience wasn’t quite as sensational as some of the other reviewers.

We found the food a bit underwhelming, especially at this price point. Don’t get me wrong, it was good throughout and sometimes great. The beef entree and the pumpernickel brand, for example, were fantastically done.

But many of the remaining dishes were quite vegetable-forward and some of the flavors didn’t seem to make sense together. There’s nothing wrong with a lot of vegetable dishes, but taken together it felt like the meal was a little bare and missing some substance / finesse.

The service was awesome and the decor of the place is lovely and memorable. Unfortunately, those were the parts of the meal that left the most lasting impression (vs the meal itself). Also love that they include tip with the menu prices - more restaurants ought to do that.

Maybe we aren’t the target demographic, but I think there are better spots in NYC to drop $200 pp.“

“I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have been going to Quatorze since the early 1990’s when Mark and Peter were on 79th St. I was thrilled when the restaurant recently moved to my corner at 82nd and 1st Ave. and have always enjoyed dining there. NEVER AGAIN. I just had the most awful in-person experience with a manager, Nino who was rude, dismissive and argumentative. And all I wanted to do was make a reservation. Nino is the complete antithesis of the way the staff at Quatorze treat customers. If this is the person who is now the face of this beloved neighborhood gem, then sadly I will not be back. And that’s a shame. I left a message asking to speak to the owner, Mark, but I guess having to speak to an actual loyal customer who is unhappy is beneath him. UPDATE: I received a call from the owner Mark, who questioned the veracity of my account. Do yourself a favor and steer clear - these are rude, arrogant people who think we’re all just dumb. And the food and service is average at best.“
