“Really nice (smart) name for a restaurant :D
Came for my birthday and two other tables around me are celebrating theirs! Nice food, all fresh and very delicate, but also relatively pricey for its size. Warm service and nice atmosphere.
Recommendation: Mussels and the Sourdough
Dessert: Peach and almond tart“

“I would give the service here 10 stars if I could. The bartender was so sweet. He made me a drink based on what I liked and it really hit the spot. All the drinks were quite nice. The menu was very interesting and the spot was very intimate.“

“Had an excellent dinner here last night - thank you Delilah for coming through & getting us off the waitlist and to Adelaide for the great service throughout the meal!
Similar vibe as Penny upstairs but the food was more American with a twist. We shared the red shrimp, tomatille, agnolotti, pork chop and of course the famous cake.
Every bite was delicious and this was the perfect amount of food for 2! I will be dreaming about the agnolotti for the rest of my life. The pork chop was to die for, the caramelized onions were so good. The tomatille was one of the best bites ever, soooooooooo light and yummy. The cake really is like the cake from Matilda, but not sweet or too rich at all. Perfectly chocolatey and light.
Wine selection was great as well. Can’t wait to come back!“

“Neighborhood gem. Great decor, homey, comfortable but well appointed. I have dined here alone and with family, both times it was a good atmosphere. GM Michael is really good and runs a good staff. The food is delicious- good for all types of diet restrictions. Fresh ingredients well prepared. Last but not least also great cocktails. Host and server were friendly and attentive. I will for sure be coming back here!“

“Wow. The food was exceptional - I cannot recommend enough the frogs legs and the duck. Absolutely first rate - what a chef. And the bar staff were charming and made us feel included. Really a great night which - honestly- on a Tuesday in Manhattan is amazing!! I have to call out future music star CLANCY (that’s all CAPS) who ran the bar, bloody brilliant and what a talent!!“

“Very tiny and intimate space. As a vegan visiting from LA we decided to go with the tasting menu to try all of the pastas + a bottle of wine. The tasting for 2 people is a perfect amount, maybe even 3 if you want a lighter meal before hitting the town. The Gigli w/ Truffles was the standout dish, but cannot emphasize how amazing everything was.
Our servers were so accommodating and even gave us a salad on the house because we were sat right by the door, and asked to move but there were other reservations which I completely understand. One of the best meals I have had and still blown away by how amazing everything was and 100% vegan.
Great spot for a date night.“

“The home of hospitality - this is a family owned and run spot in Little Italy! Very well loved and an amazing selection of wines for anyone who is a local or visitor
My favorites the balsamic Negroni and il Lombardo. For the espresso martini lover, these guys make the best one in town“

“Musette Cafe is the espresso at the center of the coffee that is Harlem. The cafe by day, wine bar by night is accented with French doors, exposed brick, flowers a bloom on each tabletop, and petite oak wood tables making for a cozy dining experience. In the cafe, artists, writers, and academics convene to create, theorize, and engage in the occasional repartee, soaking in the most divine and artistic coffee in upper Manhattan.“

“I've had dinner at Greywind, but my first time for lunch. We shared four small dishes, and they were all excellent! Service was great--attentive but not overly intrusive. High on the list for a return visit. Dan Kluger is one of the best in the city, and he really nailed it here.“

“Took a chance on Justine’s after reading about it in TimeOut. Had some friends in town from the UK. What a fantastic meal and evening we had. The food was incredible. The fusion of flavors, the delicate and meticulous work, the presentation; all truly excellent. And their wine list is equally impressive. The staff were all really lovely. The place is small, so I do advise making a reservation. Sit in the corner window table if you can! It’s delightful. The menu is seasonal, so what I posted may not be on the menu when you dine. Already been recommending Justine’s to friends. Go check it out!“

“The steak was room temp when it got to me which was a bummer I was really looking forward to it. The leeks were undercooked but the dressing was delicious. I wasn’t as impressed with the food as I thought I would be. However, the staff and service was prime! Lovely experience overall but maybe lower the food expectations.“

“Visited here in February from Toronto based on a friend's suggestion who lives in NYC for the best chocolate martini's in town, and Ayza delivered! We got some guac and chips as we were mainly just there to try the drinks, but they were good. The service was friendly, and at times it did feel a bit rushed, but it was a Saturday evening and that is to be expected, no fault of their own. They also welcome you with a little cup of free mulled wine which is a nice touch.
The martinis were the main show though! My partner got the classic, and I got the raspberry one. I loved it so much I had to have two! and the little truffles they give pair so well with the drinks. Although we sat in the outdoor area, the vibes weren't too far from cozy like inside, but I would definitely sit at the bar or inside if possible next time.
I'm planning to visit NYC again in a few months and will definitely be hitting up this spot again as these are some of the most delicious drinks you'll ever have! Hopefully this time we can check out more of their food as well :)“

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“We went to Cecily for an event in June, and got to try some of their dishes.
The inside is a bit smaller than I thought, or it is more of an obscure dining room shape. They have a fully stocked bar, and a super friendly and talented bartender.
We had a few cocktails; Pink Panther, Cecily Manhattan, and Passenger Pigeon. The Pink Panther was not pink as I had hoped, but it was tasty. Fruity and elegantly sweet, really nice cocktail. Cecily Manhattan was strong, reminded me of Old Fashion. A nice, relaxing drink in the evening. Passenger Pigeon was aromatic and flavorful, with just the right amount of sweetness.
Food we tried:
Grilled Scallops had a great aroma of the yuzu. They were plump and soft, perfect texture, delicious!
Little Gem Caesar was super fresh. The piparra pepper had a nice little kick, Anchovies gave bold flavor and added texture.
Mussel Toast was divine! Garlic aioli is the bomb, while chili butter gives subtle kick that is so delightful.
Half Roasted Chicken was super moist, and packed with flavor. So tender, easy to cut with butter knife. It had crispy exterior, each bite was amazing.
For dessert, we had Mom’s Strawberry Cake. It was magically delicious. I believe they added strawberry compote into the whipped cream, making it extra flavorful and tasty. It had loads of fresh strawberry compote under the cream.
The staffs were nice, they took a really good care of us during the event. The drinks and food were great, we enjoyed them all. This is such a neighborhood gem, we would love to go back again in a near future to try more of their dishes!“

“Several things I’d recommend about THE PURPLE TONGUE. 1) The unique wide selection of rare wines. The owner Peter spent a lot of time in Asia & SE Asia & Europe. He totally understands great wines. 2) the best baked salmon in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood & I’m a salmon lover. 3) the relaxing atmosphere of his indoor & outdoor seating space. And even outdoors the massive plants section off the eatery and the sidewalk for privacy 4) last but not least the great jazz & blues entertainment which sometimes features vocalist for your listening & enjoyment pleasure“

“Such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. My friend and I came here on Saturday night and ended up spending hours here because it was so lovely. Both of the bartenders were kind, accommodating, and had great recommendations. They were very attentive, checked on us throughout the night, and always made sure we had enough wine. They were personable and easy to talk to. It never felt like we had to go out of our way to get their attention, like it often does at bars in the city.
We sat at the bar and were greeted by two of their regular customers. The four of us had great conversation and it felt like a home away from home. This place has all the charm of a small neighborhood bar, where everyone greets you with a smile, only steps away from Lincoln Center. This place seems truly perfect for any occasion. Casual enough you can come in for a drink at the end of the work day, while also elegant enough to impress your friends after the symphony, ballet, or opera.
Locals - this should be your go-to wine bar in the city. Tourists - vanguard is a “can’t-miss” stop on your itinerary. I can’t speak highly enough about my experience here! Stop reading this review and go see for yourself!“

“The food and service is amazing. We did the a la carte menu and had the wagyu pancit and the lechon. The noodle were delicious, we could have done a second order, but we had to leave room for the pork belly with crispy skin. Drinks were amazing too. We will definitely be back.“
“Super chill wine bar with surprisingly amazing bites. We had the tuna crudo, potatoes, beet dip and asparagus (all at the recommendation of our phenomenal waitress), and they were all phenomenal. She also recommended such a great wine for us - she was fantastic in general… vibe, knowledge, descriptions… truly made the experience.Highly recommend!Oh, and she made things gluten free for me, too!

“Wandered in when walking past and was pleasantly surprised! You give them an idea of what kinds of wine you like, get options to taste based on that, and choose a glass(es) to drink when you find what you like. Cool concept and cozy space inside.“

“Pinkerton sits on the lovely corner of N 6th & Havemeyer and I am lucky to live nearby. This wine bar is picturesque and makes me feel like I am a character in a movie. Staff is friendly and attentive. My go to’s are the orange wines; only a few wine bars in the area have them. The appetizers are elevated both in selection and flavor. Indoor and outdoor seating are both enjoyable.“

“Was first introduced to this place a few days ago and have since gone twice! Absolutely love the atmosphere and the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Have tried a few things and have been disappointed at NO points. The bruschetta and tuna tartare are wonderful. The shrimp salad is delightful! The burger hits. The fries are great. I could go on and on. While they have a smaller menu, they do what they do really well. A perfect place for a catch-up with friends, date night, an evening of me-time - whatever you want! Love that there's no TV and just light jazz playing - it really works to eliminate distractions and means you can hear your friends! I loved my experience so much I'm actually gonna be back here next week but what a delightful meal - definitely working this into my stable UES rotation.“

“Ordered the Carbonara with steak based on the waiters recommendation. It was pretty tasty! Just needed more salt for my preference and I didn’t know the side of steak was $13 more as an add on which is pricey! Steak was thin but cooked right. I’d go back but no add ons“
