Sushi mumi Reviews
A friend of mine brought me here, and honestly I wasn't sure what to expect, but Sushi Mumi completely blew me away.
The fish quality alone is worth talking about. The uni, the white fish, the abalone, everything was strikingly fresh. The abalone especially stood out to me because that's a hard thing to get right, and they nailed it. Portion sizes were also genuinely surprising for an omakase. You leave full. Like, actually full.
But what really made the night was the chef....read full review
A wonderful omakase experience at Sushi Mumi. The owner/chef Marco definitely showcased the best of the Japanese culinary skills and selected some of the most fresh and delicious ingredients available during the season. He was also a friendly and fun person to chat with. Food wise, each course is prepared with care and detail, well presented and tasted remarkable. My favorite was the hairy crab, which I ordered 2 additionals. The sake selection, although bot vast, but had some...read full review
I had an amazing omakase experience here. Every course was beautifully prepared and incredibly delicious. You can tell how much care and attention Chef Marco puts into every detail—from the appetizers and fish to the presentation and pacing of the meal. Each dish was perfectly balanced and memorable.
Without a doubt, this was one of my top omakase experiences. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special sushi experience. I can’t wait to come back.

Sushi Mumi is a renowned omakase restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant is praised for its exceptional service, with staff members being sweet, friendly, and attentive. Chef Marco Lin, a former Ginza Onodera chef, runs the counter and is dedicated to his craft, engaging with guests and explaining each dish. The menu features a variety of dishes, including the popular NYE special menu, which showcases delicacies such as ise ebi, seikogani, and awabi with liver sauce. The fish is flown in directly from Japan, ensuring freshness and quality, especially with standout items like the Uni, Hotate, and Ankimo.
Sushi Mumi is a proper omakase in the East Village, with a menu priced at $250 before tax/gratuity, including 5 otsumami, 10 nigiri/sushi, tamago, soup, and dessert. The otsumami allows the chef to showcase their skills with cooked dishes, such as the tender hamo served with jasmine vinegar jelly, the enjoyable amadai fried with the scales on and hairy crab sauce, and the excellent grilled nodoguro. The shari (sushi rice) is cooked very well, with a deep red hue and a nice salty tang from the vinegar. The nigiri is exceptional, with standouts like the shima aji and iwashi.
Sushi Mumi offers a comfortable, peaceful, and romantic dining experience, making it a favorite among sushi connoisseurs. The atmosphere is relaxed yet professional, ensuring guests have a good experience. With high-quality ingredients and exceptional service, it is a must-visit destination for sushi lovers.
