The Consulate - UWS Reviews
Blown away by interior design, topped with finger-licking food, friendly service, and such a well crafted drinks!
nice casual/not too casual joint . great for Sunday supper
We had a fun waiter and a tasty meal here. The interior is lovely but noisy. Narrow menu choices, but the food is very good.

The Consulate - UWS is a French/continental restaurant on the UWS. The decor is beautiful, stylish without trying too hard. The food is really special. Standouts include the Crab Cake and Grilled Octopus, both described as absolute perfection, fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly right. The seared bass with cilantro sauce and truly divine sticky toffee cake are also highlights. The Amy cocktail from the impressive cocktail list is especially fantastic. The escargot is delicious and tender, though some felt the sauce could use more garlic. The octopus is delicious and tender. For those with celiac disease, Chef Nestor personally comes out to explain what is naturally GF and adapts dishes, preparing them in a separate space free of cross contamination. The filet mignon is cooked perfectly, a rare feat. The tuna tartare and kale/Brussels sprouts salad with green apple are very tasty. Service is second to none, genuinely welcoming, and terrific from beginning to end. Staff members like Joel, Peter, Bibi, and Lianna are fantastic, kind, and attentive. The atmosphere feels like a European get away, though the noise level can get really painful. Overall, it is a solid, very good restaurant with a wonderful experience.
