The Modern is one of my NY favorites. Food is excellent. This time we ate in the less formal bar. Highly recommendedUpdating this review. When you look at the menu the options look OK, but not that novel. However, taste any one and you will be amazed at the flavors and quality. Superb food. Have a look at the photos here of the hot dogs with caviar (!), the beef short ribs, and delicious lobster pasta dish. This is the best meal I've ever had... on every level, every bite of every course, every way that I (a solo diner) was made to feel welcome and integral to proceedings, every conversation with everyone who works there, everyone I could see having the best time... the very best.Don't go anywhere else... it will never be as good as the Modern (and never mind recommending to a friend, I'll be recommending to everyone).

A bit louder than other Michelin-rated establishments. Professional service team but could've had timing and communication down more. Not a significant issue though. Food was fresh and flavorful. Highlights were the tuna tartar canape, the seabass and the nam foc mai mango with coconut rice. No chicken or beef on our menu. Diver scallops were over-cooked.
