50 Best Japanese Restaurants near Old Bethpage

“I absolutely adore this restaurant. Having lived in Korea, this place reminds me of my time there. It feels like home.

The banchan is wonderful and varied, and without fail my main dish is phenomenal.

I don't get to come here often since I live in upstate NY, but when I come to Bethpage for work this is the only restaurant I come to now.

Can't wait to come back!

“We celebrated my son’s 21st birthday yesterday and really enjoyed this hibachi experience! Ted and team were professional, friendly and provided a great entertainment to all! Thank you so much from our family!🎈🎊🎉“

“Came for the Omakase experience. Very fresh fish and good was amazing. It was priced like a high end Omakase place in NYC. Overall great experience and nice staff. Omakase experience over priced BUT would definitely come back and do regular sit down dinner and try out more of their menu.“

“I came here today with my friend millie. We enjoyed everything, the food was amazing, the waiter we have was awesome and very informative.“

“I’m not the type to leave a long reviews, but I had to make an exception for Oku. Honestly, this place is such a gem in Huntington. My husband and I recently went, and we were both so incredibly satisfied with everything.
The vibe is amazing! It's perfect for a date night or just whenever you want a nice, quality meal. But the food? It’s on another level. I’ve been to plenty of high-end fine dining spots in Manhattan, and the quality here honestly rivals them. Everything is so incredibly fresh, you can really taste the difference in every bite.
The best part is that you’re getting that big-city quality without the crazy Manhattan price tag. It’s such a good deal for what you get. I’ve already been telling all my friends and family that they have to try it. Seriously, if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out!“

“Amazing authentic Ramen and apps were delicious!!!“

“Best sushi in Long Island“

“Awesome sushi. Seafood soups are great.“

“If you appreciate good sushi, stop by Sushi Vogue on Jericho turnpike. Great tasting food at reasonable prices, nice selection on the menu, and courteous service with a personal touch! They can also cater your events and gatherings - check them out for either lunch or dinner! Highly recommend!“

“I'll start with I loved Ting.
But KuKu is an awesome replacement!

Been here several times with family and friends, every single time the food was fantastic, fresh, & delicious.
The service is always polite, prompt, and everything always comes out correct.

Highlights: Bibimbop, Fried Chicken, & all the small dishes you get to accompany.“

“it's really good great food lovecit all“

“We came in with a beastly group of about a dozen, and the kitchen handled the table with impressive speed. The food came out fast in steady waves, which kept everyone busy passing plates and eating without any lull. Every single dish hit the mark. The geek in me love the technology - from ordering on the tablets, to easy sign up on the app, to contactless payments.

Dim Sum & Starters
- Har Gow: Plump whole shrimp with wrappers that held together cleanly when picked up.
- Sticky Rice Shao Mai: Hearty and deeply savory, easily one of the table favorites.
- Scallion Pancake: Light, flaky layers without the grease you often get elsewhere.
- Sesame Balls: Fried crisp on the outside with the right amount of chew.

Entrees & Wok Mains
- Chongqing Spicy Chicken (La Zi Ji): Crispy bites packed with fragrant chilies and a great numbing heat.
- Mapo Tofu: Silky texture with a rich, warming kick that worked perfectly over rice.
- Pickled Mustard Green Fish Soup: Tart, comforting, and packed with tender fish slices. Unexpectedly a soup - we expected this to be stir fried (didn’t read enough)
- Shrimp with Bok Choy: Fresh greens with a satisfying snap and generously sized shrimp.
- Stir-Fried Udon: Good wok char on thick noodles that stayed bouncy.
- Chicken with Broccoli: Tender chicken and crisp broccoli in a clean, savory garlic glaze.
- Sesame Chicken: Sweet, crunchy, and vanished quickly with our crowd.
- Yeoungchow Fried Rice: Fluffy and light, acting as a great base for the spicy mains.

The staff kept our tea topped off, plates cleared, and the pace moving from start to finish. A reliable spot in the area when you have a big group of hungry people that wants variety and quality.“

“Wow!! BEST SUSHI 🍣 by far in the area!!! And the owner is very nice and attentive. We went there for the first time last night. My husband is a sushi addict and he was impressed! I had tuna with apple slices snd rice with chicken. I highly recommend Masa!“

“Great little sushi place that's been at this location for years, a real local staple that's maintained great quality food at great prices that whole time. With a valid selection of special rolls, delicious tempura, and solid bento box options for take-out, you can't go wrong with Tokyo!“

“Very nice staff and good food“

“Best hibachi ever! The food quality is amazing and the service is why we stay. Way cheaper than other spots I’ve been to and the wine pours are great. Their yum yum sauce is delicious, sushi rolls are fat, I love coming here. The chefs are also hilarious, my kids love it here“

“Steven and his staff are the best! Food is fresh, well presented and delicious! Very attentive service! Thank you for taking my challenge and crushing it. I walked in and said feed me with no holding back. I did not even look at a menu And they knocked it out of the park! Thank you again!!! Until next time!🙏 A+++++++++++++“

“I came here to try some vegetarian rolls I have never come across before (Avocado Peanut Roll & Avocado Banana Tempura Roll). Not only is the food delicious, but the person that gave me my takeaway order was super nice. Will 100% be coming back here!“

“We came in on a Sunday about 8:40, well before the listed 9:30 closing time, and were warned as we came in that they actually close at 9:20. It seemed odd that it would be an issue with plenty of time to order; but apparently unlike most restaurants the closing time is a matter of when they expect you to actually leave.

Still, with seemingly enough time, we ordered, and the appetizer - soft shell crab - came quickly. Unfortunately, though it was not one of the dishes listed as “spicy”, it came with spicy mayo on top. I told the server that I can’t eat spicy food, would not have ordered it if I had known, and asked her to take it back. She gave me an argument, saying I should have told her I can’t eat spicy food. I pointed out that since they list some dishes specifically as spicy, one would assume - as in most other restaurants - that the rest are not. She reluctantly took it back, and informed us the Angel Roll we had ordered, also not labeled spicy, came with spicy mayo on top as well, so we also asked for that to be redone.

This pushed things closer to closing time, and rushed our meal a bit. But I have to say that the food was wonderful: The crab crisp outside, moist inside; the sushi fresh, and the pineapple shrimp fried rice delicious.

So despite the unfortunate attitude we encountered, this restaurant is well worth the trip for the excellent food. Just keep in mind that the closing time is not what’s listed on the website. And that it’s best, whatever the menu says, to ask details before ordering.“

“The perfect family compromise with amazing food! Our family is always divided when ordering dinner—half of us want Chinese food and the other half craves Japanese. Sakana is our absolute savior because they do both incredibly well. It makes ordering stress-free, and everyone always gets exactly what they want. Beyond the convenience, the food is consistently fresh and delicious. To top it all off, Cindy is wonderful! She is always so friendly, welcoming, and incredibly generous every time we order. We love supporting this local gem and cannot recommend it enough!“

“So happy you're back. We missed you!!! Ordered last night and everything was amazing as usual!!!“

“great Arata special sushi Rolls were awesome! All around great sushi meal!!!“

“Best sushi on the south shore.“

“An Absolute Culinary Triumph with a Casual Twist

If you are looking for some of the freshest, most expertly crafted Japanese cuisine on Long Island, Dozo Dozo in Woodbury is an absolute must-visit. From the moment the food hits the table, it is clear that the kitchen operates at a world-class level. The fish quality is unparalleled, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth texture that rivals top-tier, high-end omakase spots in New York City.

Every single dish we ordered was a home run. The crispy rice tuna was a spectacular starter—perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside while remaining delicate on the inside. The spicy Kani Salad and Edamame were spot on.The specialty hand rolls and the signature Miso Black Cod were equally breathtaking, showcasing a masterclass in flavor balance and presentation.

The staff also deserves immense praise; the service was incredibly attentive, fast, and warm throughout our entire meal; with a nice window table.

The only minor disconnect is the atmosphere relative to the price point. With a premium menu where a dinner bill can easily scale up, the environment feels a bit too casual and informal. While the space is clean and contemporary, it lacks the quiet, upscale intimacy you might expect when paying top dollar for premium sushi. It leans more toward a lively, neighborhood-casual spot, kid-friendly, than an elite dining destination.

That being said, the food is so phenomenal that it completely overshadows any minor atmosphere critiques. If you prioritize world-class sushi over strict fine-dining formality, Dozo Dozo will easily become your new favorite spot. I will definitely be returning.“

“The food was amazing! Everything tastes great, the portions are really good, and the food always feels fresh. We loved the calamari; it was very crispy and absolutely delicious. The shishito peppers, also incredible. We ordered the salmon and the steak, and both were cooked perfectly. Everything we tried was delicious.

The service I received was amazing. The two servers were very kind and attentive. I can’t always come in to eat, but I do order on DoorDash, and the sushi is the best—so good. Highly recommend it!“

“Love the family owned restaurant. A true culinary masterpiece. roppongi sushi has such fresh and tasty food. Top Japanese quality. Sushi chef Bendy makes every piece absolutely delicious. The sushi rice is perfectly balanced with the seafood. A true hidden gem.“

“We have only eaten here a handful of times but each time the food is fresh for both dine in & take our. I love the 20% off when you order on-line. The staff is very friendly and accommodating allowing my daughter to customize her bento box. Tonight we took out & I left my phone on the bar. The staff held it for me in the register until I returned to get it. They definitely won me as their customer!“

“Food is always fresh, innovative and delicious. cons service: you feel like you are on a 1/2 hour lunch “rush” no matter day or evening. While enjoying your appetizer and warm sake, the wait staff piles down your entree …. I’ve learned to order my entree after I’ve completely finished my app. going for years, wait staff no personable skills though very polite. Decor cosmopolitan, they spent a lot of money on the chairs but now the faux leather vinyl is sagging, peeling and it’s hard to find a comfortable seat. I overall love and support this hidden diamond in the rough Asian restaurant“

“Very decent and nice boss, the dishes are authentic and generous, like many other locals, I recommend this restaurant to my friends.“

“We always love Mizuno and normally sit at the sushi bar. Today we sat at a table with my father. He could hear us today whereas sometimes there are so many people. It's a little loud for his hearing aids, but we absolutely love Waturo and the food and the ambience and just everything about Mizuno! “

“It was a great time. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Sitting with total strangers that were like friends before the night was over!!“

“We always have a good time here. Food is great and the chefs are fun!“

“Amazing ambiance, the ceilings are super tall which is always great. Personally love the fact that's the menu is favored towards authentic Chinese cuisine. Everything is done really well. The dice mala chicken with chili is something i always order at every place that has it on the menu and this place definitely tops it. It's a must order. Would definitely return on the regular!“

“Came here for lunch with Mr two kids and it was a nice experience. Food was really really good!! I can't remember a time my daughter has finished a plate and she finished all her food. My son had his Sushi and I had mine and everything was really delicious! Lovely service too!“

“Perfect gem in a little strip mall in Hicksville! One of a kind. Super fresh sushi and delicious bubble tea! Will be back and very soon!!“

“This is one of the greatest Asian cuisine restaurants I have ever been to, I have been consistently purchasing the crab Rangoon for the last 2 years and I quite enjoy it every single time I come. The California rolls are also a second favorite of mine. There is always adequate seating with nice booths and even hand sanitizer at every table, I love the selection of beverages from Japanese sodas to the fountain drinks and everything also has the correct sauce (yum yum sauce, soy sauce is my usual selection). The service however is USUALLY excellent and fast, I always get what I ask for when I ask for it, HOWEVER there has been one individual working the counter who has been giving me issues for the last 5-6 months. There used to be an older Asian women at the counter who was excellent however this younger woman has been occupying the counter and she is insufferable sometimes. One time I went here and she ignored me multiple times trying to order, gave me the wrong receipt, has repeatedly to this day given me issues about certain items and constantly misses some, I always need to ask for my drink to be brought with the food, she gives me my crab Rangoon without sauce sometimes and she’ll even forgot the chopsticks for the sushi?! I miss the older Asian woman but am rejoiced whenever there is the male Asian working the counter, he is also great and is very efficient in what he does, I will continue coming here for as long as I do but I have to review this place now due to my discontent with the younger Asian worker.“

“Excellent, fresh and warm atmosphere.“

“It’s just real good !! They check all the boxes ! Go enjoy a nice dinner or lunch !“

“wonderful little inexpensive gem !! I need to remind myself to order from them more often! Delicious ! The people behind the counter are very polite and accommodating as well!“
