“My only complaint is that the lone worker today, when I was paying with a credit card (without tap) took my card and tried to use tap. Before she took my card I was going to put it into the card processor. When I pointed out that it doesn’t have tap, she (2x’s) typed my card information into the register screen and it was declined (plenty of credit was available because I got gas with it shortly after). I then used my debit card which she just took from me and again tried to use tap (again not a feature on that card either). She was finally able to put my card information for the debit card and it went through. If she had let me put my card in in the first place there would have been no problem with the original transaction attempt. I feel some of the staff might need better/more training on using the register.“

“I was there for the first time a few weeks ago. Was so impressed! The vanilla soft serve actually had flavor. Most places I make them put a ton of toppings on just so it has some flavor. Also, the medium was so large my two nieces that normally want larges could barely finish it. So you definitely get your moneys worth. My only question is I want to bring a friend who’s allergic to eggs. I called the shop and they said they didn’t know if there was eggs in the ice cream (If it wasn’t for my friend, I would never know that many places like Carvel does use eggs to make it more creamier). So do you use eggs in your soft serve?“

I called a 11 ice cream cake shops in the area only to be told that it was impossible without the right mold. One place even asked me to order a mold for them and they would see if they could make the cake but wanted to charge double for the effort. I randomly found this Carvel in Hackensack and after explaining what I wanted, one of the staff members brainstormed ways to make the cake come to life. “Held 2 birthday parties at home with Smallcakes. Each party was a hit. Tina, Lexi & Regina arrived on time with everyhing-- even folding tables, chairs + balloons. The kids colored their own frosting, used a piping bag and decorated with tons of toppings.
When the 6 year olds needed a break, their team cleaned up and turned everything over for lunch, they even included a custom birthday cake. Such a fun party, the adults enjoyed spending time with their kids while Smallcakes did all the work. 10/10!“

It's a nice, locally owned shop that gets the job done right. The bathrooms are also always sanitary and clean, which speaks volumes about how the entire place is operated. 5-stars all around. 👌“

“We've had a frankly difficult few months and decided to treat ourselves to a proper night out and this place ended up being exactly what we needed. From the moment we walked in we felt looked after. The host greeted us warmly, our table was lovely, and the whole atmosphere just put us at ease. Our server picked up immediately on the kind of pace we wanted — slow, relaxed, no rush — and matched it perfectly throughout the evening. She made a couple of recommendations that turned out to be brilliant and never once made us feel hurried through any of the courses. The food was the kind that genuinely lifts your mood. Proper flavours, generous portions, beautifully presented but not so fussy that you can't just dive in. We shared a starter, had a main each, and finished with a dessert we absolutely shouldn't have had room for but somehow found space. Every plate was a winner. The wine was poured with proper care and the bill came at exactly the right moment, not before, not too long after. It was honest and very fair for the experience. We left feeling properly restored.
