Ocean Bay 避風塘 Reviews
We stopped by Ocean Bay Restaurant for Sunday dim sum. The menu has all the typical dim sum favorites, and everything we ordered was satisfying.
My favorite was the shrimp cheung fun—it's one of my go-to dim sum dishes, and this one did not disappoint. We also ordered from the menu the pan-fried noodles with beef, which came in a surprisingly large portion and was very tasty.

Food was prepared quickly. Hot and tasty. Service was slow. Had to ask several servers several times to refill water and to get check.
Came only for dimsum. Pros: local spot. Cons: food is okay/decent

Ocean Bay 避風塘 offers a variety of Chinese dishes, with highlights including their Beijing pork chop and crab special. While the garlic crispy chicken can be a bit salty and the clams with black bean sauce may not always taste fresh, their fried flounder and sautéed snow pea leaves are popular choices. The restaurant is known for its consistent good food, especially during dim sum hours, which draw large crowds. Customers appreciate the friendly service and attentive staff, with wait staff being described as amazing and providing seamless service during large banquets. The restaurant also has a spacious parking lot with free parking during certain hours, making visits convenient. Many guests have enjoyed ordering multiple dishes, including fried rice, fried fish, walnut shrimp, and a spicy clam dish with fried shallots and ground pork, which are highly recommended. The dishes often have a strong "wok chi," adding to their authentic taste. The staff's uniform and the overall atmosphere give a feeling of a fancy restaurant. Ocean Bay is praised for its delicious food, fresh seafood, and the quality of the oil used for frying. Despite inflation, the prices are considered much lower than similar restaurants, making it a highly recommended spot for Cantonese-style food.
