“what a sweet little spot! the staff were welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is gorg inside. we came for brunch and had the çilbir to share between 2 people, which comes with several sides. the meal was refreshing, light, and so, so tasty.“
“Went with a group of 8. The service was great! Our waiter made suggestions that we took them up on and they were absolutely perfect! as a table we shared the mixed app dips with the pink sultan. This was some of the very best muhammara I've ever had. We also split a few lamhacun which were also super yummy. For our meals, we had various different plates which all were big hits. The service was great and we were warmly welcomed by the staff with prompt service. I can't wait to go back.“
“Great addition to "nicer" Turkish restaurants around NYC --for date nights. The atmosphere, food, and staff were all wonderful. Even though we had reservations, the place was not overly packed on a Friday night, which I appreciate. There is also seating available at the bar. We got two delicious cocktails and manti (delicious), stuffed wine leaves with cherry sauce (delicious), icli kofte (delicious), and lokum kebab (which were good too, but nothing crazy). I would definitely go back and recommend this place to friends.“
“An Excellent Turkish Restaurant in NYC !!!I was in New York City for a business trip last week and by searching for a Turkish place in Midtown I came across Akdeniz. I was met with true Turkish hospitality, everyone was very nice. I had the Iskender Kebab which tasted as if I was in Istanbul. It was very fresh and tasty. The babaghannous was nicely made you could taste the fresh roasted eggplant, as good as the best in Turkey. It was such a great experience that two days later I went back for lunch and had the Adana Kebab which was one of the best Ive had in the States. I highly recommend Akdeniz!!!“
“Absolutely incredible meal & service here. Everything we had was delicious. The warm bread to the wine to the hummus to the labneh to the tabouleh- we had the abdaneh chicken (per suggestion & highly recommended!) … my list goes on! Mustafa & staff were just lovely. Try it out :) homey vibe & fabulous!“
“Leyla Restaurant takes Turkish cuisine to a whole new level with its exquisite dishes and authentic flavors. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the tantalizing aroma of traditional Turkish spices and herbs. Their lahmacun, with its thin, crispy crust and flavorful minced meat topping, is a true standout. And let's not forget about the yarma, a hearty and comforting dish that's perfect for satisfying hunger cravings. But the delights don't stop there – Leyla Restaurant offers a wide range of other mouthwatering dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving more. Whether you're a fan of classic Turkish fare or looking to explore new flavors, Leyla Restaurant is a must-visit destination for food lovers everywhere.“
“I don't ever really write reviews, but after today's visit I wanted to share. I have been going to Cafe Turkey since they first opened, the food is very yummy, fresh, the service is amazing. Today I went there at 9PM, after a long day at work. They were getting ready to close, no one was there but they opened the back area for me to have dinner, turned on the heat, let me take my time to eat didn't rush me, AG was very welcoming and so kind to check if I needed anything and let me stay after they close for the day. It felt like a family not a just business. Thank you AG for making my night feeling so welcome at my local favorite restaurant in Astoria.“
“We have had our private event at this lovely restaurant. we used the main dining room area for a party of 46 of us. The menu was excellent with a great variety of meats and chickens and seafood, along with some vegetarian items. The staff has made us very comfortable and brought each cocktail and meal on time. The space is excellent for private events and small gatherings. Entire office loved everything.“
“Julie was sweet, knowledgeable, efficient, and a great professional server. The food was so yummy! We especially loved the spinach rolls, and babaganoush! The shishkabob and dumplings and cabbage rolls were all prepared very well and delicious!“
“I just need to say. After I finished my excellent meal. I had a food high and craved a cigar and a Cognac. I got the preferred Cognac selection can't remember the exact name, but it was 225.00 for a glass. The best Cognac I ever had. I had an amazing food experience. Here are the pictures. By the way, I had the Meat Sushi for the appetizer and the Salmon for the Main. For the Table, we got the Tomahawk Steak medium rare, a dozen oysters, blooming onion, and crab legs oh I forgot I had a classic mojito in the beginning. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU GO. IT'S WORTH EVERY EXPENSIVE DOLLAR. BON APPETIT.“
“I just finished dining here for the 2nd time and my experience was amazing.I had The Lamb Shish & Chicken Adana combination platter, the meats were well done and the flavor was on point. Our waiter Salih suggested we try the Turkish Coffee and it did not disappoint, he made our experience 100% better.“
“We had a nice breakfast with one of my friend. I have been first time in this such a cute place but I really like the atmosphere since I stepped in.Such a nice and friendly owner and workers are makes you feel like you’re in your home.I also enjoyed the foods. She made everything more than delicious.Definitely will come back again..“
“Great little place. Food is all homemade and really good. World class Baba ghanoush and their lentil soup, as the kids would say, really hits! This place only has 9 tables and 3 of them are only for 2 people so I wouldn't recommend it for large parties unless you let them know ahead of time. The Baklava is also a stand-out. You definitely have to try this place if you are in the neighborhood!Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access“
“My partner and I LOVE shawarma mia. We’re here at least weekly to grab a quick, healthy, and well-priced lunch! We usually grab a chicken pita on most days, but if we’re feeling especially hungry, the wrap is always more than enough. The folks who work here are so friendly and efficient. Food is so fresh and flavors are fantastic. Definitely recommend!“
“I came here for a friend's birthday and the servers did a great job of helping us celebrate, which was really nice! The Doner Kebab "Turkish Gyro" was a little bit dry, but the baklava was delicious and it was a good experience overall.“
“Second time to Bunny and was not disappointed. The food was even better than I remembered. A standout for me was the Garlicky Labne w/ Ras-El-Hanout carrots and chili butter. Was served with homemade, fresh out of the oven bread in a paper bag. Done right.I will say that it was a bit disappointing to only have water to drink (no non-alcoholic beverages.) Feel like I missed out on a part of the experience drinking just water.Overall, a delicious spot for a satisfying meal. Cash or Venmo only.“
“Was passing by and went in and got a Lamb Gyro to go since I glanced at the reviews and they looked good, and I agree. Good size, filling and the bread was fresh and tasty. Will be back again with more time to try one of their plates that looked really tasty.“
“We were here for restaurant week and decided to order from that menu. The food was excellent. Service was impeccable. Everyone was very attentive. Very much appreciated our server's recommendations for wine. I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place in midtown.“
“This establishment left a very positive impression on me during my initial visit. The lively atmosphere and decor create an immersive experience reminiscent of Istanbul. The service provided was exceptional. Although I did not obtain the name of our server, I believe she may have been the owner. She consistently ensured that all our needs were promptly met.We commenced our meal with the delectable spicy hummus, accompanied by their exceptional bread. I also highly recommend the red lentil soup. For my main course, I savored the flavors of the mixed grill.I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the city. You will not be disappointed.“
“Exceptionally good beef Doner in the typical style found in Istanbul or Berlin. Tastes just like the veal hind leg meat once only sourced in genuine venues such as Yatagan of Macdougal Street.Highly recommended when one experiences that hankering for traditional doner. Only downside is that in 2024 they charge $13 USD for a wrap or gyro less than 1/3rd the size of Yatagan's $2.75 serving. At least you can have sutlac (rice pudding) for $6 instead of the $8 most other places charge these days...“
“The place I'd well lit, comfortable, and elegant without being ostentatious. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is fabulous! The phyllo scrolls stuffed with feta were divine and we could eat them forever. I had the lamb Adana and it was delicious! So flavorful. My friends has the falafel and the manti Turkish ravioli. Both were good but the manti was a new experience for us all. The mint flavor is strong in the yogurt sauce which we all loved. The texture and flavor of the ravioli in combination with the sauce makes you want to savor it and gobble it up all at once. Unfortunately, two of us were on medications that affect our appetites so we may have looked like we weren't enjoying ourselves as much as we actually were and this appeared to cause concern. They really want you to enjoy what you're eating and it's wonderful they take pride in what they do. What we didn't eat there, we gladly took with us! I'd you're looking for a reasonably priced delicious place to eat in that area, come here! It's wonderful!“
“Lokal was delicious! We came because we had a gift card but now we will definitely be back. Service was amazing, staff was friendly, family / friendly but up beat vibes. Music was fun too. Great spot on upper west, near the museum of national history.“
“An absolutely lovely little spot tucked away by Sunset Park, offering up delicious Turkish food at unbeatable prices with plentiful portions. The owner here provides second-to-none service. And you HAVE to get the traditionally-prepared Turkish Coffee!“
“I had a meal first time from Hakki Baba and I think I’ll be a regular. The food is authentic. The restaurant itself has a great vibe. I only had a quick glance at other dishes. I want to try them all. Great experience.Parking: In front of the restaurant.“
“It was a really sweet time, they were a little rude to my family in the beginning so I didn't appreciate that but as the night progressed they changed their tune. Food was delicious, music was awesome. Overall nice but I wouldn't go back.“
“Came with 2 friends.Sandwiches and fries are great!Staff service is amazing. Guy gave us sanitizing wipes and extra napkins when he saw that we ran out.How would i describe the food? The fries r like mcdonalds fries but crispier and seasoned well. The no fork sandwich is like a largeeee costco hotdog with a toasted, really soft and light bun. Bread isnt too filling; perfect for a light lunch. The meat/cheese interior was supreme though“
“Great food and experience ! Wide variety of fresh vegetables, rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, soups and more. Excellent quality. The owner was engaging and helpful in navigating the menu. Hope you stop in. Enjoy! The Reuben and corn chowder were perfect after a full day of travel.“
“It was sooooo good I can’t believe cliffside has been without an Albanian spot for this long! We needed it and it’s actually amazing 10/10 the fli and qebab are to die for! Definitely come try this authentic restaurant it tastes exactly like real albanian food. I will be back“
“Really good food, unique from other Mediterranean spots!! The white pizza had so many kinds of cheese, it was the best I’ve had. We also got the pear and walnut pizza that was incrediblleeeee.Staff were also super nice! Great experience, would highly recommend. We’ll be back!“
“Cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere. I came here from Long Island to meet with someone special who I hadn't seen in months, and it was the perfect place for us to catch up and talk and laugh together over a cup of Turkish coffee (with a complimentary Turkish delight in the side). The woman who served us was so sweet and welcoming. If I lived closer I'd come here all the time!“
“A party of six of us stopped in here for lunch during a business trip. The hostess did not seem very pleased when we arrived without a reservation but was still able to accommodate us. There were no guests in the restaurant when we arrived however it quickly filled up so I would definitely suggest a reservation. For appetizers we had the Pera Dip Trio, Grilled Spanish Octopus, and Portuguese Fried Calamari. All were excellent! For my main plate I had the Sirloin Shashlik Steak Frites which was marinated, seasoned, and very tender. I also enjoyed the Mediterranean Rose Sangria! The atmosphere is also very nice!“
“this chicken donair was a late night hero.amazing taste from the freshly carved chicken off the spit, to the veggies and sauces it was paired with. the bread being sort of sandwich style made it hard to eat, but it all got in my mouth by the end ?“
“In the heart of the city, there's a Turkish restaurant that stands out in its simplicity and the warmth of its people. It's a place where the food speaks of a rich history, a legacy of seafarers who, after months at sea, longed for hearty meals upon their return. Their cuisine evolved to be fulfilling, often rich in fats - a necessity for those harsh times.I encountered a Turkish lady there, a familiar face from another local establishment. Her presence adds an authentic touch to the place, reminding one of the genuine roots of the dishes served. Turkish cuisine, inherently rich, poses a challenge for eateries striving to adapt to healthier preferences. This restaurant, however, has nearly mastered this balance. While not entirely aligned with my palate, the food is compelling enough to keep me returning. So, in the spirit of earnest recommendation, yes, visit this Turkish spot. It's a place where simplicity and sincerity reign, offering flavors that echo a storied past, somewhat adjusted to fit our contemporary tastes.“
“For a cute date spot with lots of character and good Turkish/american fusion food, this is the spot. The vibes here are immaculate and just throw you back in time to another generation with its decor and music choice. The food was good for the price point. The highlights would definitely be the appetizer tray, which went well with the provide bread, and the fries with ottaman seasoning had a kick that kept me going for more. The lamb and rainbow trout were also great. The baklava was not too sweet and hit the spot at the end!Friendly stuff, clean bathrooms, and overall great experience!“
“We had dinner here with our booking beginning at 7pm. It was quite full and there was only one server/host, I think the owner of the place, but she was able to cater to us among all other customers in a timely manner. The restaurant closed at 10pm but my friend and I lost track of time in conversation. We were not even asked to leave as there was still a party of 6 people and ourselves (party of 2). The host was so accommodating and welcomed us staying until after we were well done (sometime between 11pm -12am). Not once were we asked to leave. Also on dessert, we were able to get their almond pudding even around 11pm, and after the kitchen closed (which was something we wanted to taste while there). Overall it was a memorable experience - food, Turkish wine & the service. It's my second time being there. I would go again.“
“I recently dined at Saray Turkish restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a touch of traditional Turkish decor. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The food was the highlight, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the mezze platter and the succulent lamb kebabs. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Overall, I highly recommend Saray for an authentic and enjoyable Turkish dining experience.“
“This is my second time eating here. First one was long time ago (I don’t live around) for Ramadan dinner. This time was for lunch. They have good soups and good pide. I had kelle paca (lamb head meat in a broth) and kusbasili pide. Both were delicious. My sons had red lentil soup and pastrami pide, they loved it. Owner and workers are very friendly and always pay attention to the table. This place is far to my home but if I pass by again definitely would stop either for eat-in or takeout.“
“I first time went to this restaurant, and it was awesome! The place had a great vibe, the service was top-notch, and the food was seriously delicious. Every dish had this perfect mix of flavors that just blew my mind. The staff was super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience, definitely check out this spot.“
“This fantastic Turkish restaurant excels in offering the rich flavors of Mediterranean cuisine, particularly with its delicious array of appetizers. Dishes like Adana kebab, chicken skewers, eggplant kebab, and döner are all meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The warmth and hospitality of the owner, Birol Bey, create an unforgettable experience for customers. The ambiance with live music adds a unique touch to the dining experience. Situated in Cliffside Park, the restaurant’s location with its dedicated parking makes it easily accessible. The friendly staff and appropriate noise level further enhance the experience. This remarkable establishment stands as one of the leading entertainment spots in New Jersey and is definitely worth a visit.“
“I have been coming to Deniz Restaurant since 2008 when it first opened and it has never disappointed! The staff and owner have always treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. In a neighborhood as gentrified as Fort Greene has become, Deniz has been my go to for years. You will always see me at the bar ordering some kind chicken dish and pairing it with a wonderful Turkish wine. If you don't know, Turkey produces some of the best wine in the world! Again Deniz has been such a wonderful place to go to. You will always leave happy and with your belly full of good drink and great food. So happy this establishment is still going strong! ~ Freddie“
“Went yesterday for my sisters 30th birthday for happy hour drinks and it was amazing! The service was amazing (and they were slammed by the end of our time there) but the servers themselves were even better. We shared the mixed spread app (probably not the name) and it was delicious.“
“I was heading to the F train, this cold day on March 22, 2024, along Houston Street, when I decided to stopped for a bite. I passed by Ankara and saw a sign that said "good deals on falafels." Hmm. I wondered why it's good deals. Just curious. I went in anyway. The place was very clean and inviting. I ordered the falafel with lettuce, tomatoes, and Bermuda onions, on a pita bread. The yogurt sauce, hot sauce and another sauce was in different containers, which I'm glad. Usually the sauces are poured over the sandwich and it's all messy. They did put a little bit of tasty sauce though. Oh wow! The falafel came hot to the touch, but when I'd opened the wrapper, the veggies inside was cool and fresh!! The 3 falafels were crispy outside and has soft and tasty flavor inside. The side sauces were great also. It was fresh and clean with no oil or grease. I'd enjoyed every bit of it. I took a picture and sent it to my sister and message her how good it was. She said to order her one and her son said "I want one too." Now I'm curious to try other dishes on their menus. It looks delicious. I will bring my friends here for a nice dinner and will write another wonderful review for them. Very good food, Ankara #3. I'm impressed.“
“Mehmet, Cyrille, Deb, and Alok, are the best bartenders ever in the entire new work city. I can’t imagine how they thrive to a higher position considering their time accumulated and their consistent hospitality and immaculate communication to bar regulars. I would give them, and Tony and Primo 5 Michelin Stars if I could.Kid-friendliness: Def not kid friendly considering the crowd. The staff is amazing though. The parking is subject to NYC parking availability (call 311 at your discretion).“
“Went back after a long time.. was craving thw lamb shank wrapped in eggplant and slow cooked. It was really goodAlso had the beef dumplings called manti as an appetizers. My buddy had the calf liver which he loves and wiped the plate clean. I'm not a fan of liver so can't speak to it.The black currant martini had a little coffee like flavor to ti and a popular drink here. The service was good as always. They've been in the neighborhood for over 25 years to my knowledge.Didn't get ti this time but in previous visits have had their fritters and dips and kebabs. All have been great!“
“I love the food here. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean/Turkish food. The dimly lit decor there is beautiful. And I must say the service is awesome ?. Our servers made sure that we were good. Me and my friends were here on Old Years Night and had a good time. I took my mom here for her birthday dinner. Trust me, she was pleasantly surprised. I'll always look forward to eating here again and again.??“
“A great little gem. Ambience was wonderful allowing an intimate relaxing vibe when you entered the door .followed quickly by a very warm welcome in by the staff. Service was spectacular , so friendly, attentive and kind.food was delicious and very wekll prepared. My only comment would be that the serving sizes are a little on the small side yet the flavor and taste make up for it. Definitely would go again on visit to NYC“
“Ordered catering for a work event and was given great pricing and attention from the restaurant owner Ramazan. The food was a hit with everyone and left everyone stuffed. As a Turk, this was a trip down memory lane as classics were served in an authentic matter. I personally loved all the food and would love to support the business again. P.S. the baklava is perfect.“
“I tried Agora for the first time yesterday with my family around lunch time and we all LOVED it! Nothing was left over LOL. We went around 3:00 on a Wednesday and it was perfect because it was calm. Food didn't take long and it came out amazing. The waitress was super nice and always refilled our waters and made sure everything was perfect. The atmosphere makes it feel like you're in Turkey, it's a nice little getaway from the concrete jungle right outside the door. Overall, amazing food and atmosphere and I highly recommend!“
“Fantastic location in Midtown. Brian was our server and he was spot on. The food was good, but the service was better. Not only did he give fantastic service, he went out of his way to ask us questions and then he gave us a list of "don't miss" things to do!“
“Was looking for a nice place for Easter. Let me tell you couldn’t have selected a better place. Fish was all fresh, service was outstanding and the atmosphere was beautiful, if I could give 10 stars, I would. Met the owner Ali. What a gentleman. We will definitely be returning.“
