“First time at Coney Shack and I’m already hooked. This spot is such a cool blend of Vietnamese flavors with street food vibes, and everything we tried hit the mark.

We started with the crispy fish tacos—super light, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The lemongrass chicken banh mi tacos were my personal favorite: juicy, perfectly seasoned, and with just enough heat to keep things interesting. You can tell they’re not afraid to play around with flavor while still keeping the balance right.

The vibe inside is casual and fun—bright, energetic, and perfect for grabbing food with friends. Staff was super friendly and patient while we figured out what to order (so many good options!).

Prices are very fair for the quality, and the portions are generous. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving something bold and different. I’m already planning to come back to try the short rib quesadilla everyone raves about.“

“I used to go into the city for halal then by richmondhill/glendale. one night after work i decided to try essa's chicken over rice by qcm... 10$... that was 2021 best decision ive made and price has stayed exactly the same from when i first went there till now, not only is his chicken seasoned great but he blesses you with a perfect mix of veggies, fries and one falafel(if thats what ur lookin for but if u a plane jane then he'll bless ya wit that to. His green sauce is crazy good too. he's a genuine down to earth guy and always says wassup when u walk by.“

“I’ve been coming to this small business for about 3/4 years now and although it’s just a taco truck I know enough that all I have to do is pick up my order and eat it at my house or enjoy it with my partner at the nearby park. I’m not gonna make a review about the “environment” of a taco truck and make them feel obligated to my seating needs for that I’ll just to a RESTAURANT it’s a perfect grab and go. The staff is very friendly and hard working people, for as busy as they get their customer service is consistently great. I want to mention how hard it is to find authentic AL PASTOR TACOS that are supposed to be made like how they make it here. The tortilla is always fresh, the meat is seasoned perfectly and you can tell by the color on the meat and the salsa verde is also perfect if you are into spicy fresh homemade salsa just the right texture not watery like others that I’ve had around the area.“

Since I’ve moved to JC (which I know is only across the river, but the food scene really is different), I have yet to find my go-to halal spot… until now! I paid $10 for a chicken over rice. The chicken was so juicy and they were very generous with the chicken and sauce. So delicious but also so dangerous that I’m so close by“

“This is one of my favorite places to eat in Astoria. The food is excellent, so flavorful and fresh. The service is always so friendly as well. I always come here when I’m craving halal and I’ll always recommend it to others.

The wait was a bit long though, almost 25+ minutes just to get to order, and sometimes other people (I assume related) just cut in to throw in 5 or 10 other orders. “The Banh Mi Cart is my favorite part of working in the Financial District. They’re only open 4 hours a day but boy do they deliver! Hot, delicious ready-to-eat Vietnamese banh mi’s ? And the two uncles working the cart are super friendly and are the most honest, hardworking people I’ve met. “Deploy Coffee is a solid choice. The setup is clean and well-organized, and the barista is friendly and welcoming.

I ordered an oat milk cappuccino, which was made to perfection - great balance of flavors and a smooth texture. The coffee is clearly brewed with care.

Considering the quality, the price is very reasonable, especially for a cart setup.

Overall, I'm impressed with Deploy Coffee and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a well-made cup of coffee on-the-go. It’s located right outside the hunters point queens public library on Vernon LIC.“

“Update: Tried this place again and I gotta change my review from 4 stars to 5. Got a combo over rice with extra meat and it was packed. More importantly though, it was delicious. I don't know if it's because I was hungry but the food I got yesterday was made really good, so much so that I'd actually say this cart is among the top 5 halal places I'd recommend. There seemed to be more lamb this time, like 60% chicken to 40% lamb but I didn't mind it much because the chicken was very juicy and flavorful. It felt like I was eating heaven and this might be my new go-to but given that it's a little of a way from my house, I don't know if I'd be coming here often. What I do know is that it's right in front of the hospital and if I worked around there, I'd be getting even fatter. For the purposes of my health, it's probably a good thing that I don't live too close to this cart. 10/10

Original review: Got a combo over rice and despite costing $1 more than the chicken over rice, the combo was basically 90% chicken and 10% lamb so it was basically a chicken over rice with a few lamb pieces sprinkled in. Despite me feeling ripped off, the chicken over rice was actually quite good. Chicken was tasty and well seasoned and I'd say that this is definitely one of the better halal carts out there in the area. Not the best but pretty good, and the prices weren't terrible.“

“I’ve tried over a dozen Halal carts in the city, and this one has by far the best chicken over rice. Once you try it, you’ll go out of your way to come here every time you crave halal.

“I tried a few treats from Yummy Tummy’s Kitchen and everything was so fresh, delicious, and full of flavor! The cookie was soft and warm, the little pie was perfectly baked, and the cupcake was super moist with the creamiest frosting. You can taste the love in every bite.

What makes it even better is that this place is woman-owned, and the owner herself is the chef and baker behind all these amazing goodies. You can really feel her passion in the quality of the desserts.

From the very first snap, I could tell this had to be a homemade or custom dog — it didn’t have that generic taste so many hot dogs do. The seasoning was perfect, and it actually tasted like a real meal rather than just a quick snack.

On my second visit, I asked the team in the truck why their dogs were so good. They explained that it’s a custom blend made exclusively for them and a few high-end retailers who serve it in their restaurants.

We went to another renowned Michelin starred yakitori restaurant exactly a night before we had Erotori (this yakitori stand). The go-to sauces here are the red sauce and white sauce. The halal momo are complimented with a thicker, chewier dough than other momos - it takes me three bites to finish each one. Amdo Momo is a favorite for those looking for an authentic taste of Tibetan cuisine. Don't forget to ask for the side of radish!“
