50 Best Chinese Restaurants near Rye

“Fairfield County Connecticut does Not have any mockmeat chinese takeout menu (the closest is New Asia- Hartford Ct which has similar mockmeat takeout offerings as this & is cheaper) so bonus points for just filling a need. Unlike other restaurants, China Harden-Rye had a whole veg/vegan menu (not just 2 lame tofu offerings like most restaurants offer) The mockmeat dishes such as sesame chikn, general tsaos, orange chikn were those fried flat, round nuggets with sauce which is OK for takeout but I can take nuggets & toss with sauce at home. I'm still searching for proper breaded seitan/tofu fried pieces that are big like non-vegan meals. There's no vegan sweet & sour pork or v- walnut shrimp which west coast vegan takeout has. && The menu says vegetarian but they claim it's vegan. Service was excellent as they accomodated my nut allergy by not putting nuts in kungpao chikn & assuring no nut oils in anything. V-beef & broccoli was delish however didnt taste like the meat-based dish & texture was excellent. Was expensive for takeout quality, we ate at the restaurant on plates & the serving size seemed smallish but food was pleasantly hot & crispy. they put relaxing musac on for our dining pleasure too. Will definitely return bc there's no other mockmeat chinese takeout place anywhere near fairfield county. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-10“

Water Moon is such a cozy little gem. The vibe is super relaxing, and the dumplings? Unreal. So flavorful and perfectly made, we couldn’t stop talking about them. Our server, Anna, was the sweetest and made everything feel extra special. Sad they’re closed for remodeling, but I’m already excited for their return. Definitely a favorite! My kids love their Sesame Chicken, Steak Hibachi and General Tso Chicken and they never disappoint. I enjoy the Poke Bowl as they offer a full bowl of delicious, healthy options! “I ordered shrimp with broccoli from East Bamboo Chinese Restaurant and was very disappointed. The broccoli and sauce were very bland, and the shrimp tasted bad and seemed spoiled. I called the restaurant to let them know, but they told me the chef said the shrimp was fresh. Unfortunately, based on the taste, that was not my experience at all. Overall, the food quality was poor, and I would not order from them again.“

“This is the most horrible restaurant place I've ever ordered from. I ordered and picked up in store. I ordered "Roast Pork with Chinese vegetables" I specifically asked if the vegetables included bok choy and was assured that it did. When I got home with the food the only vegetable included with the Pork was celery. Just a container of pork and celery, another time I ordered BBQ Ribs and it was a very small order and some of them were burned. When I questioned the counter person he answered that they had run out. Then why did they sell, and charge me an order? Don't order food from this place, If you want to enjoy it, it is BAD and they.“

“After years of eating at all the local spots (Bamboo Garden, Peking, and New Great Wall) I can honestly say this is the BEST Chinese food I’ve had in White Plains. The extra drive is absolutely worth it. Portions are “old school” big, prices run about $2 to $3 less than other places, and they always throw in something extra for free. The egg rolls taste just like the ones you remember as a kid, and the boneless spare ribs were superb (IMO). My wife, who usually gets headaches when MSG is used, had no issues here, which says a lot. “Hadn't been there since 2016 possibly when I moved away from the area in 2017 still got the same day service the same hostess was there and everything was wonderful I told them where I was and we reminisced and had a great time and hey the food is still the same as it was back then no changes next time in the area hope you have more money so I can buy more food to bring up to where I live I'm in the mountains where the options are limited and few. “Quick takeout of Wonton Soup and Kung Pao Chicken. Wontons were fresh and the soup base was clean and tasty. The Kung Pao Chicken was a nice sliced chicken and the sauce had a good consistency and level of spice. Brown rice seemed fresh as well. Service is quick, parking right in front. Cash only.“

I found a gem right in my own backyard. Panda Garden is a cut above the rest when it comes to Chinese food. The quality is excellent, the flavors are on point, and the portions are generous. Honestly, it might be the best I’ve had in Stamford so far.

I’ve tried a few different items from here and they’ve all been hits:
• Chicken Egg Foo Young – flavorful, and the gravy ties it all together perfectly.
• Pork Fried Rice – savory with good quality pork.
• Beef and Broccoli – tender beef, rich sauce, and fresh broccoli.
• Half Chicken and French Fries – not greasy at all, crispy fries, and a solid portion.
• Pork Egg Rolls – some of the best I’ve had anywhere, big and full of flavor.
• Spare Ribs – juicy, good flavor, and great size.

The restaurant is pretty spacious inside, clean, and brightly lit, which makes it a comfortable spot to dine in. The staff is friendly, and there’s convenient parking right out front and around the side.

My only complaint is that it can be a little pricey for what it is, but the flavor and quality make up for it.

Overall, Panda Garden delivers great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. If you’re craving Chinese, skip the chains and give this place a try — you’ll probably end up coming back like I did.“

It's along Westchester Avenue where there is a selection of various cuisines.The food is delicious and it's not greasy. I love the rice, its bright yellow and full of flavor. The chicken used in the sesame and general tso are fried just right and not too hard. I personally don't eat Chinese all the time and when I do I usually stand outdoors while my food cooks because you can smell the heavy grease inside and down the street. But at Panda I'm able to stand inside to wait for my food because it doesn't smell. This is a cash only place so make sure you have plenty. The man behind the counter is nice and he speaks Spanish which is nice for the customers that visit. Its not a place really to stay long and eat because there's 4 tables. I take my food to go. They also do not deliver.

“Very good food. We ordered wonton soup, boneless ribs combo and shrimp with broccoli. The soup had good flavor and the wontons were good. The boneless ribs were tender and a good sized portion. The fried rice that came with the combo didn't look appealing (too brown in color) but ended up being very good. Most often, Chinese take out dishes are swimming in sauce so I asked that the shrimp and broccoli be cooked in little sauce. It was done to perfection! I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be returning.“
