50 Best Chinese Restaurants near Rye

“Fairfield County Connecticut does Not have any mockmeat chinese takeout menu (the closest is New Asia- Hartford Ct which has similar mockmeat takeout offerings as this & is cheaper) so bonus points for just filling a need. Unlike other restaurants, China Harden-Rye had a whole veg/vegan menu (not just 2 lame tofu offerings like most restaurants offer) The mockmeat dishes such as sesame chikn, general tsaos, orange chikn were those fried flat, round nuggets with sauce which is OK for takeout but I can take nuggets & toss with sauce at home. I'm still searching for proper breaded seitan/tofu fried pieces that are big like non-vegan meals. There's no vegan sweet & sour pork or v- walnut shrimp which west coast vegan takeout has. && The menu says vegetarian but they claim it's vegan. Service was excellent as they accomodated my nut allergy by not putting nuts in kungpao chikn & assuring no nut oils in anything. V-beef & broccoli was delish however didnt taste like the meat-based dish & texture was excellent. Was expensive for takeout quality, we ate at the restaurant on plates & the serving size seemed smallish but food was pleasantly hot & crispy. they put relaxing musac on for our dining pleasure too. Will definitely return bc there's no other mockmeat chinese takeout place anywhere near fairfield county. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-10“

“This tiny Chinese takeout joint was pleasantly surprised!! Menu offers fried rice made to orders, i requested no salt or soysauce, the veg fried rice turned out delish!! Even plain fried rice with nothing but oil was yumm! Chefs were hard at work, phone orders were constantly ringing!! Thankful this restaurant takes card payments!! “This is the most horrible restaurant place I've ever ordered from. I ordered and picked up in store. I ordered "Roast Pork with Chinese vegetables" I specifically asked if the vegetables included bok choy and was assured that it did. When I got home with the food the only vegetable included with the Pork was celery. Just a container of pork and celery, another time I ordered BBQ Ribs and it was a very small order and some of them were burned. When I questioned the counter person he answered that they had run out. Then why did they sell, and charge me an order? Don't order food from this place, If you want to enjoy it, it is BAD and they.“

I don't think we waited more than ten minutes for our entrees and everything was delicious. “After years of eating at all the local spots (Bamboo Garden, Peking, and New Great Wall) I can honestly say this is the BEST Chinese food I’ve had in White Plains. The extra drive is absolutely worth it. Portions are “old school” big, prices run about $2 to $3 less than other places, and they always throw in something extra for free. The egg rolls taste just like the ones you remember as a kid, and the boneless spare ribs were superb (IMO). My wife, who usually gets headaches when MSG is used, had no issues here, which says a lot. “So I got the spicy chicken and eggplant. I asked for it to be extra spicy. The dish was one of the best chicken and eggplant dishes I’ve ever had. I can tell that it was spicy and I can see that it was spicy and I can feel that it was spicy but it didn’t taste spicy at all. Zoom in on the pic and you’ll see the chili flakes. The ambience was great. I saw some fish tanks and I sat next to the fish. They were entertained by my phone. The service was great. The lady there was very polite. Parking: Being my first time, parking was limited as I ordered food around 8-8:30 pm. There's plenty of street parking but it's a little tough to find a spot to pull in...

“A true hidden gem in Stamford!

I found a gem right in my own backyard. Panda Garden is a cut above the rest when it comes to Chinese food. The quality is excellent, the flavors are on point, and the portions are generous. Honestly, it might be the best I’ve had in Stamford so far.

I’ve tried a few different items from here and they’ve all been hits:
• Chicken Egg Foo Young – flavorful, and the gravy ties it all together perfectly.
• Pork Fried Rice – savory with good quality pork.
• Beef and Broccoli – tender beef, rich sauce, and fresh broccoli.
• Half Chicken and French Fries – not greasy at all, crispy fries, and a solid portion.
• Pork Egg Rolls – some of the best I’ve had anywhere, big and full of flavor.
• Spare Ribs – juicy, good flavor, and great size.

The restaurant is pretty spacious inside, clean, and brightly lit, which makes it a comfortable spot to dine in. The staff is friendly, and there’s convenient parking right out front and around the side.

My only complaint is that it can be a little pricey for what it is, but the flavor and quality make up for it.

Overall, Panda Garden delivers great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. If you’re craving Chinese, skip the chains and give this place a try — you’ll probably end up coming back like I did.“

“As far as I know, this is the best Chinese food in the area. Tried all the others and as far as taste and quality, New China 3 seems to be on point. My only criticism would be they use the yellow rice to come across as fried rice, but lots of places do that and the rice is tasty. Their beef with black bean (hold the peppers and onions) was really tasty and they don't try and cheap out on the meat like other places nearby do, you get your money's worth with them!“

“I discovered this Chinese restaurant one day when I was in Port chester doing some shopping and going to the movies. I've been here a number of times now. It's along Westchester Avenue where there is a selection of various cuisines.The food is delicious and it's not greasy. I love the rice, its bright yellow and full of flavor. The chicken used in the sesame and general tso are fried just right and not too hard. I personally don't eat Chinese all the time and when I do I usually stand outdoors while my food cooks because you can smell the heavy grease inside and down the street. But at Panda I'm able to stand inside to wait for my food because it doesn't smell. This is a cash only place so make sure you have plenty. The man behind the counter is nice and he speaks Spanish which is nice for the customers that visit. Its not a place really to stay long and eat because there's 4 tables. I take my food to go. They also do not deliver.

Atmosphere - I loved the decor - comfy chairs and a great mix of table shapes and sizes and high quality wood paneling and wallpaper, but I would stop trying to be a sports bar with outdated pop playing on speakers, and focus more on food. Their customer service the owner is very sweet. She aiming to please every time and the food. Well I feel like the food is a four sometimes it’s a five but they’re salt and pepper syrup and nobody does it better in the area. They’re a small typical Chinese takeout restaurant they do have seating but it’s limited. I love ordering Chinese food from here.
Granted I have never ordered delivery and it seems like that’s where a lot of the negative reviews are coming from.
However, pickup has never failed me. They pack the containers to the top and do not skimp on the portions.

My favorites are the Beef Lo Mein, Hot and Sour soup, Beef with Garlic Sauce and Moo Shu Pork

Yes at times when I got to pick up the food there is a bit of wait but not more than 10 minutes. They are always busy in the back so I get it.

Food is good. Period. If you want that classic greasy (in a good way) hearty yummy Chinese food, this is the place in Stamford for me.“
