“This is one of my favorite restaurants. The quality is on par with Manhattan restaurants at Long Island prices. I normally go for lunch take out. But two days ago I had dinner. They had homemade sweet corn rice balls and homemade sweet corn ravioli. They were outstanding. Restaurant is small but nice. The staff is very attentive without being overbearing.“

“The food was excellent, and the bus staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our waitress was not very warm or inviting, which affected the overall experience. After she brought us the bill, we waited around 10 minutes for our card to be processed while she was doing side work, and eventually another staff member had to run it for us. It just felt a little odd to be left waiting that long when we were ready to pay and leave. Overall, the food was great, but the service could have been more welcoming and attentive.“

“This is one of my favorite places to stop and get a bite to eat. They have great rice bowls with very generous portions of protein. You also get a pita on the side with a cup of hummus. There are toppings for the hummus as well, including my favorite, olive spread. The service is warm and friendly and the staff are great. They also have great muffins and protein packs. To the side there are some interesting energy drinks but I have not tried those. Overall, I really like their food and the price is good for what you get. I highly recommend them!!!“

“I can not believe that this restaurant has been here on Main Street in Port Jefferson Village for over 20 years and I never ate there!!! This is my new Favorite place to eat. The food was exceptional and good size portions. The pita bread they put out on the table was so delicious I could have made that my meal. The service was extremely attentive and so personable. The Owner came around greeting everyone and made us feel like we were all family having dinner together. I am looking forward to my next visit.“

“Breakfast is our favorite meal and we eat out every morning. Due to an early morning doctor appointment, we bumped into Buttermilk’s Kitchen. Great vibe as soon as you walk in….friendly and cheerful staff, nice decor, immediate service. I had the “The ‘Ol Barnyard”…..the sausage gravy was excellent with big chunks of sausage and super flavorful…..probably the best I’ve had here in NY and most of the South!!! The bacon was high quality and very tasty. My perfect over easy eggs were so fresh (yes, I can taste the freshness and quality just by having a bite of the whites!). My husband had a “Create Your Own Omelette” and declared that is was a “work of art” (I was offended because I make a darn good omelette and he never said that to me!) We were concerned about the “hash browns” because that usually means just cubed and fried potatoes, so we were very pleasantly surprised at the delicious shredded and seasoned, crispy but soft hash browns. Our regular coffee was good and hot, and they offer several “craft” coffee options. The Banana Foster French toast looked delectable! The lunch menu looks good, as well. We’ll definitely be back.“

“I wanted to update my review after hearing directly from the owner. I appreciate him taking the time to personally reach out, review what happened, and acknowledge my concerns. It means a lot when a business owner takes customer feedback seriously and is willing to have a genuine conversation.

We chose Rolling Pin Bakery because our wedding package included this bakery as an option, and after our tasting, we preferred their cake over the other choice. I want to emphasize that the cake itself was wonderful—it looked beautiful, tasted great, and was delivered on time. The decorators did an excellent job, and we were happy with the final product.

My original concerns were not about the cake, but about the communication experience leading up to our wedding. As the wedding got closer, we reached out to confirm that everything was set. Having reassurance and confidence in those final details is incredibly important when planning such a meaningful day.

On the morning of our wedding, after not receiving a response to our check-in email & call a few days prior, we called because we wanted to make sure everything was on track. During that conversation, we learned there had been an issue with our paperwork. Thankfully, the bakery did have our cake scheduled and everything came together, but hearing that information during such an important and emotional time created unnecessary stress. We were at the point of discussing whether we needed a backup plan, which is not something any couple wants to be thinking about the morning of their wedding.

Thankfully, everything ultimately worked out. We are truly grateful for the work that went into creating such a special part of our wedding day.

After speaking with the owner, I appreciate his acknowledgment that the communication could have been handled differently and that a simple reassurance would have made a significant difference. I believe feedback is valuable when it helps businesses improve, and I appreciate that he was willing to listen and take the time to understand my perspective.

I am updating this review from 2 stars to 4 stars because of the way the owner handled my concerns after the fact. His willingness to personally reach out, acknowledge where things could have been better, and have a respectful conversation reflects the kind of customer care I hope businesses strive for. While my original concerns remain valid, I also believe businesses should be recognized when they take accountability and make an effort to improve.

Overall, we enjoyed our cake and appreciate Rolling Pin Bakery being part of our special day. My hope is that future couples have both the beautiful final product we received and the communication and reassurance that make the entire experience as stress-free and enjoyable as it should be.“
