The food is perfect every time ( No exaggeration, 50 visits, 50 times getting exactly what I asked for) I've tried everything on the menu and they're all good. **If you're ordering fries be prepared, it's usually and extra 3 or 4 minutes because they make them to order**. If I had to have one suggestion it would be more diet/zero sugar drinks, but that's because of MY preferences. Do not miss out on this place.“

“Maria’s is and has been our go to local restaurant since they opened in 2003. I recently hosted a 70th Birthday party for my husband there with 30 guests and everyone had a great time.
Maria, the owner, Meghan and Erin assisted with the planning and were very accommodating. The party menu was extensive with many choices for appetizers, entrees and desserts. They even created a menu to put at each table setting for guests to choose from. Our waiter and all the staff did a great job, always with a smile on their face. The food and drinks were all delicious, and most guests had leftovers to take home with them. One of the highlights at Maria’s is when celebrating a birthday, all the staff come to the table to sing and make music. It really adds to the festivities.

“Simply the best taco spot in the area for true street-style tacos. I used to drive all the way to Queens to get tacos like these, and now I’ve found this gem just 2 minutes from home.

I ordered the birria tacos and they were absolutely amazing. The meat quality was excellent and the portions were very generous. The birria consommé was perfectly seasoned and came with a grilled jalapeño that added the perfect touch. The tacos also came with fries, and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food.

I also tried the chorizo tostadas, and once again the portion size and flavor were incredible. The condiments were fresh and well balanced, and those came with fries too. There was so much food that it was easily enough for two people.

I can’t wait to go back and try more items from the menu. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious street-style tacos, this is the spot.“

“This hole in the wall place has the friendliest staff and ridiculously good food. We have been twice now and tried a variety of items on the menu and nothing has disappointed. The chips and salsa are scratch made, the burritos are large enough to share, nachos are a must-have. Vegetarian options are available. Prices are beyond reasonable; last time we went we spent $70 with drinks and tip for four people.“

“Had the pleasure of eating at the Greenport location. Two of my HS girlfriends and myself on moderately busy on Sunday (1012/24) at about 5:30. A young waiter named Brian was our server. We first ordered drinks, mine was the margarita with the pomegranate swirl. So delicious!! Refreshing and frosty! We shared the Mexican Street corn and the three dips with chips, which were freshly made. So fabulous! So tasty. The salsa, guacamole and queso were just perfect, each different but delicious!! The corn was sweet and flavorful. I had three tacos in hard shells. Fried chicken, fried shrimp and the marinated steak. Each one was different and very fresh. My one friend, is a vegetarian and the other is gluten intolerant BUT! They each found many yummy choices! I’ve been trying to get to this restaurant for several years, and finally the planets aligned! Brian was well trained, patient and informative with a good humor. The interior is bright, festive and clean. So much food, I could not finish all of it. And!! the restroom was clean! You should be very proud of this business! We will be back! Thank you!!“

“My Dominican wife and I have tried almost every Hispanic restaurant on Long Island. We love authentic Mexican, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Dominican, Puerto Rican, all types of real Hispanic food. The food from this place is absolutely unbelievable. The el pastor taco was enough to make me close my eyes and block out the world. It was by far the most amazing taco I’ve ever had in my life. The octopus was also out of this world. The flavor and portions are unmatchable. I can’t say enough about how good this food is. You would never know it, hidden in this location. I swear on everything I almost got emotional eating this taco.“

Now, about the food, to me this was truly life changing. it's hard for me to find authentic flavorful Mexcian food where I live, this feels like finding a hidden gem. Every bite just made me want more. I loved it so much that I went back and placed a second order before leaving! (Had to take one for on the road!)

I'll definitely be returning every chance I get. Honsetly, they need to open a location closer to me because if I lived closer to them, you would see me there every day. If you are considering coming here, I'll tell you this: STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND GO!!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!“

“I’m so glad Cactus Cafe opened! We’ve been three or four times already—eating there, picking up takeout, and ordering through DoorDash—and every time the food has been fresh and delicious.

We’ve been trying something different on each visit. The wings with Cactus marinade were awesome, the corn & chicken chowder was great, and I’m a huge fan of their enchiladas. I think we’ve tried all of them by now! On Mondays, they have a great deal: two enchilada orders for $13. They seem to have different specials every day of the week, plus a late-night burrito special. We’ve also tried a variety of tacos, and every one has been excellent. The portions are generous across the board.

It’s very clean and cute inside, and the staff is so friendly and helpful every time we go. It’s a great location where you can sit and eat, though it’s mainly set up for takeout. They serve beer and margaritas, too. I’d love to see it become a full-service sit-down restaurant with a bar one day!

I only took a few pictures on our last visit, but I’ll make sure to take more next time. I promise, everything we’ve tried has been amazing! We’re excited to keep working our way through the menu, and I truly hope they do well here.“
