“After hiking in Harriman State Park, our go-to spot for dinner is always Rhodes North Tavern, where we almost always indulge in their cheeseburgers. During our visit about a month ago, we stuck to our routine and ordered our cheeseburgers medium rare, accompanied by a side of French fries. To our satisfaction, our order was spot-on!The cheeseburgers were cooked impeccably, boasting a delightful pink and juicy interior. Admittedly, they leaned a tad towards medium, but hey, that's why we opt for medium rare, right? ;)However, the French fries didn't quite hit the mark. They had an odd taste, almost like they were sprinkled with something resembling sand. It was a bit disappointing considering how well the burgers were prepared.On a previous occasion, my husband decided to deviate from our cheeseburger tradition and opted for the ribeye steak, while I settled for the half-roasted chicken, as I wasn't feeling like having red meat that day. Unfortunately, neither of our dishes lived up to expectations. My husband's steak, despite being cooked to his liking, was disappointingly tough and sinewy. It was quite a challenge to eat. My chicken, ordered plain without any sauces, had an unusual yellow color and an off-putting taste. Initially, I suspected it might not have been fresh, but it's possible that it was due to some spices or seasoning that didn't agree with my palate. I managed to eat some of it, but it wasn't an enjoyable experience, so I ended up mainly sticking to the mashed potatoes.Despite the less-than-stellar experience with non-burger dishes, Rhodes North Tavern remains a top choice for burger enthusiasts. The service is consistently excellent, and the ambiance of the restaurant is quite pleasant. Overall, I still recommend giving this place a try, especially if you're in the mood for a delicious burger!“

“I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and wanted to pick up some brekkie. I found Bagel Nosh close by. It was a Tuesday at around 9 am. I called ahead for pick up and my order was ready in less than 10 minutes, and piping hot. I ordered a sausage and cheese on a toasted everything wheat bagel, which hit the spot.l. Some places will only give you one sausage patty even when you don't order it with egg but this one came with two. The bagel itself was pretty good and they have more options than most places. It's a pretty heavy/greasy brekkie but you get a bang for your buck here, and it's nice for a once in a while treat.“

“Murphys has always been a reliable good place to eat and grab drinks, but recently, they updated their menu, and so far, everything I've tried has been really good to great!The Italian Wedding Soup was really great, and mozzarella sticks were light and crispy.I tried 3 kinds of tacos (steak, beef, pulled pork)- all very good, even held up for take out/eating at home.Personal pizza thin crust, always very good. Appetizer sampler was a great way to try a few things at once!I'm both happy and upset that they have several new desserts, too! I wish they had a sampler for that (!) Better for me, they don't!I got the peanut butter chocolate torte(?) And it was light enough to finish! Uh oh!!! Hahaha!The servers I had were very friendly and accommodating. “I don't think I've ever had something from JDs that I didn't like. The food is always fresh and delicious. We've used them for catering also and I was impressed with their pricing and options. Tables are always full and staff is always friendly. Quality is consistent. My favorite is constantly changing but my family loves the BLK and the patsy.“

“I work locally and order from here at least 2 times per week. Everything I have ordered is ALWAYS fantastic. The gyro sauce "white dill dauce", do not call it tzatziki ( I was gently corrected several times) is phenomenal! so much so that I would dunk the Pastrami Reuben into it. The gyro, to quote Andrew Zimmern, sloopy, ooey gooey deliciousness! The star of the show has to be the cheesesteak eggroll, holy #$%^!!!! I called today to order and when I was told it was sold out...yeah, that's right, a non-Chinese eatery being sold out of egg rolls! I replaced with the cheesesteak empanada....BAM just as good! I am skeptical about ordering anything different because on the SLIM chance what I ordered does not hit the Empire State Building bar that has been set.....I feel like I would have just wasted my lunch. “We absolutely love this place, from the food, to the cozy atmosphere, to the friendly staff and excellent service. It's perfect whether you're here on a date, or for a meal with family or friends. If you don't want a full sit-down meal, you can always find a convivial gathering around the happenin' bar. The menu consists of popular Italian and American favorites like chicken, veal, pastas, salads, steak, seafood, burgers/sandwiches, and a well-rounded selection of appetizers. Nothing trendy but all extremely solid options and consummately prepared. You're greeted with a plate of warm bread and black olives when you sit down. The house wines are quite good and a gracious pour. (A wine shop attached to the restaurant is run by the same people.) The steak is perfection - flawlessly seared to my requested medium rare, and seasoned just right. I've also really enjoyed the fish and chicken dishes here. The tilapia is so tender. Even the sides are outstanding - I couldn't believe how good the sauteed spinach in the chicken saltimbocca was! And the fries are amazing - piping hot and crispy, and perfectly seasoned as well. We've also had the seafood paella which is full of seafood but more of a cioppino with its tomato-based broth than a true paella which has a dry texture, but is tasty nonetheless. We'll be back often to eat our way through the rest of the menu, I'm sure. A happy hour menu is offered from 4-6p on Tue/Wed/Thu. As mentioned, they have a great bar, and the changing seasonal cocktail offerings are delightful. The staff are warm and wonderful, and we were made to feel welcomed each time. Mike the owner came up to introduce himself the very first time we came here. You can tell they take care to know their customers, and seem to have a loyal local clientele (one of whom recommended the Tavern to us). Our meal was perfectly coursed - never rushed nor too slow. I noticed our server discreetly checking on us several times to make sure we were done with our appetizers before the entrees were brought out in impeccable timing. A small table lamp illuminates the menu without harshing the romantic mellow. The unobtrusive noise level means you can actually have a conversation without shouting across the table. These are details, but the sum of these parts differentiates a good restaurant experience from a great one.“

“We went over for the superbowl because some of the other restaurants in town were closed and we were very pleasantly surprised. I don't know why it wasn't on our radar sooner. We got a bunch of appetizers and they were all really good. The wings were stand-out. I will say that the portions were a little bit smaller than I was hoping, but at least everything tasted good. The drinks were reasonably priced and they made my wife a very respectable espresso martini with actual coffee in it. The owner came up to our table to check in on us and the host was very sweet and kind as well. They have large rooms that you can rent out for events which is pretty cool too and they have a bunch of TVs around for games and such. Its like a sports bar in some ways, but it feels like a more elevated experience than your average sports bar or pub. We will definitely be going back!Parking: Plenty of spots in the front of the building, the side, and the back. The handicap spots are to the right when you pull in so they are directly in front and the rest of the parking is to the left and then clockwise around the building.“

“I had to deduct one star because my favorite Layl Shishi item is no longer on the menu. The VIP Cholent Plate (aka the Heimishe Sombrero) was truly a dish worthy of the VIP mantle. Cholent (bean or barley), potato kugel, kiskha, jachnun, eggs, Gedempte Fleish and two slices of garlic toast. I'm not a fan of eggs so the options are more limited for me to pancakes, waffles, etc. so we usually do lunch instead.They are open for dinner now during the week but post the specials on Instagram. They used to have a website and it no longer works, I really wish they would fix it because in this day and age usually if you don't have a website you don't last long as a business.“

“yum yum this was a great last minute choice.. been wanting to try this spot for some time now. we started with the french fries, meatballs and the lolipop chicken.. all REALLY good! “I saw this place often as my bus passed it on its route. I thought it was just a catering spot... 'til I saw the "open" sign on. I am happy I saw the "sign" because I knew I could order a small meal. We had the Honey Bourbon BBQ Ribs, Garlic Parmesan Wings, Honey Fried Brussel Sprouts, Honey Butter Cornbread, Macaroni & Cheese, Brisket, BBQ Seasoned Fries and the Apple Cole Slaw.... Baaaaaby!Everything was delicious...the ribs were of great size and cooked to perfection and the sauce delectable. The chicken wings were seasoned just right and they had real parmesan flakes of cheese not that shredded kind. The Brussel Sprouts had a little char to them and the combination of Honey and Parmesan Cheese was something I never had before but will definitely be something I'll have again. The Mac & Cheese had a different flare that I surely tasted can't quite put my finger on the flavor of seasonings but I enjoyed it. Danielle was so pleasant and upbeat as well as her assistant/best friend and they made us feel comfortable. My 13 year old daughter who is a finicky eater was happy with her Brisket over Mac & Cheese and side of Seasoned Fries and the portion was of an amount that when she tells me she's hungry I can say you have leftovers. The icing on the cake was the Honey Buttered Cornbread what is there not to like about Honey, Butter & Cornbread all in one. The apple Cole Slaw was an acquired taste I wasn't expecting. It was more like a salad that did not need any salad dressing. It was different and I like different. All in all this place is a hidden gem in plain sight. If you are ever thinking about getting some BBQ give this place a try, I promise you, you won't be disappointed. I'm definitely going back there are a few more things I'd like to try. “When my friends come in from out of town this restaurant is our go to. It's a friendly family owned restaurant. We go often enough that they know what we would like to order before we even say it. Food is delicious. Pizza is outstanding with a crispy crust and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Their Lasagna is the best! If it is one of their specials, don't pass it up. My friends rave about the fish. Also great for takeout.“

I've been to a couple of BBQ joints in Texas and this place was pretty top notch right up there with them. The brisket was spot on, I prefer mine to be a bit leaner cut and this place this delivered on that! The sauce was more of a North Carolina style, thin and sweet with a bit of vinegar undertone. The rest of the table really enjoyed their orders, the chicken cheesesteak looked substantial. The sides are almost a show-stealer, not to take away from the meats but man are they good. Skip the fries or tater-tots (you can get that stuff anywhere) and go for the more exciting options like duck-fat infused mashed potatoes or the beer-cheese mac. Nice beer and wine selection, canned offerings from local breweries. I *think* there was a dessert menu, but I was way too full to consider it.“
