“Truly the best Mexican food I’ve had in the city so far. I didn’t know what to expect but the meats and flavor profiles were so developed. We had the tacos, bone marrow, Short rib, bass entree, scallops appetizer, and the rice pudding. Meat was juicy and smoked. Scallops were the softest most pure flavor I’ve had in a while and the spice completely opened up my palate. The bass with its accompanied salad was extremely intricate and well thought out to connect the two. Highly HIGHLY recommend Claro. Definitely coming back to explore the mezcal side of the menu.“

“Came in on Good Friday around 6:00 for dinner and sat at the bar. We were warmly welcomed and ordered house margaritas, which were perfectly balanced. We also ordered a mezcal flight. The bartender, Eric, was flexible with the choices in the flight. We ordered from the happy hour menu and had guacamole, beef tacos, and beef nachos, which were thankfully not served as a pile of chips. Each chip was layered with the most tender, flavorful beef, a beautiful pickled jalapeno, tomato, and cheese, with a serving of guacamole adorning the center of the plate. The beef tacos were well seasoned and tender, and the salsa verde was fresh and crisp. The best part of our evening was the hospitality. Eric was personable, informative, and attentive. He educated us about the different mezcals and tequilas and gave us some tips and tricks for navigating the city. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again.“

“This was the best Mexican I've had in Park Slope. I had the chicken and my girlfriend had the steak. Both meals were delicious, but I'd say the chicken was the best chicken I've had in years, hands down. Juicy with crispy skin and delicious sauce. The service was slow (took 40+ minutes to receive our food after ordering), but that's probably because we didn't get drinks or apps. Both looked great, but not for us. “I love this place. My partner and I have been here many times. The food is reliably very good. Some dishes can be a miss, but many are hits and when they hit, they really hit. The chips and guacamole and the salsas are standout-good. Last time we ordered the wings, a salad, and a shrimp dish and they were all excellent. In the past there was a skirt steak quesadilla-like thing that was one of the best things I've ever eaten - I wish they'd bring it back. Their salsa macha is excellent. Veggies and salads are often a highlight. Also, nearly everything is gluten-free. I have celiac disease and it is so nice to go somewhere where pretty much everything on the menu is safe for me to eat!On top of that, the ambience is lovely. It's a really pretty space and just pleasant to be in. I'd probably come here just for the ambience even if the food was mediocre. The staff are also lovely. The last time we ate here it had been 4-5 months since our last visit and they remembered who we were and even what we ordered last time! This was the final push I needed to write a review.Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten-free options. Restaurant is celiac friendly. Usually the whole menu is gluten free.“

“This is some of the best food of any kind l've had in my 45 years living in NYC. Honestly, it's amazing, chef Jose is delightful and his dishes are so nuanced and delicious. Octopus tostados are heavenly, I have no idea what all it consist of but they are delicious. There are three, I can't eat more than two but the last is always enjoyed by someone else at the table. Burrito are a staple for my lunch/dinner... so fresh and comforting. AND I'm not really a fan of most Mexican food but this is on a whole other level. I just finished a salad of shrimp, avocado, mango, cherry tomato, with paper thin fennel shredded on top. The shrimp are cooked to perfection, not rubbery at all but ever so slightly firm and succulent. “I had been wanting to come here for months after passing it every day and finally stopped by. It was incredible! We had their enchiladas and flautas and rice and beans. They tasted so authentic and homey like what our family cooks (but slightly more elevated). The special on the night that we went was a tamal oaxaqueño and it tasted exactly like the ones my partner and I have had in Mexico. I’ve been here a few times now, both for dine-in and takeout, and it’s a new favorite of mine.“

“DELICIOUS AND REALLY FUN!I went to Tacombi on East 70th St on Sunday night with my dinning partner. After a cold rainy Saturday New Yorkers definitely had cabin fever and wanted to enjoy the beautiful night. The rest was crowded and the smell of DELICIOUS food was intoxicating. I ordered Baja Crispy Fish Taco and Black Bean and Sweet Potato Taco -both were FANTASTIC!My dining partner ordered Quesadillas with chopped steak onions and chili. He was ecstatic! Both of us ordered the best margaritas we had ever had. I highly recommend this place you must check it out. You will not be disappointed and you will have a lot of fun...“

“Absolutely delicious Oaxacan food. I've always wanted to visit Oaxaca and this place definitely gave us a taste of what it will be like. The restaurant is small with a few tables but it wasn't crowded when we went for lunch on a holiday Monday. My boyfriend and I shared the mole poblano, mole oaxaqueño, and molcajete. The mole dishes came with rice, beans, and warm tortilla and I also got a small horchata. Everything came out piping hot and fresh, bursting with flavor with every bite. Nothing was too spicy but if you like sweeter things, I would highly recommend the mole poblano.“

“I have been dining at La Flor since they first opened a while ago. Chef Viko is very creative and does a regular menu plus seasonal specials. He uses farmer’s market ingredients and is very generous with the portions. Expect to see very colorful and tasty combinations. The core of the menu here is Mexican food with French and Italian notes. The home made pastries and desserts are a solid plus to the dining experience. The wine list has Ben carefully selected and the moderate prices don’t sacrifice the quality. In all, La Flor is one of my favorites in New York City.Vegetarian options: Salads, seasonal veggies.Dietary restrictions: The chef is very knowledgeable and kind and is willing to accommodate special requests.Kid-friendliness: Family place and everyone is welcome.“

“Solid Mexican food. For apps, we got the fried goat cheese with honey (standout), chips and guacamole (bad value) and the slow cooked pork app (very tasty). I got the divorced enchiladas for my entree and it was terrific. The horchata mezcal drink was interesting but just not a good combo imo. Will come back and try something else.“

“Embarking on a culinary expedition to this local taqueria, I found myself ensconced in a veritable fiesta of flavors and textures, a testament to the prowess of the owner, Jose, whose recommendations became the lodestar of our gastronomic journey. The Steak a la Mexicano Tacos were a triumph of generosity, with portions scoring a robust 9/10, each bite a harmonious blend of succulence and spice, though the freshness fluttered at a 7/10, leaving a slight yearning for the zest of just-plucked produce. The Chicken Fajita Quesadilla was a vibrant tapestry of flavor, meriting an 8/10, with the cheese melting into the well-seasoned chicken in a decadent embrace, though the ingredients, while robust, hovered at a 7/10, occasionally lacking the punch of peak harvest vivacity. The Barbacoa Soup was a simmering cauldron of comfort, its depth and complexity cocooning the soul in warmth, yet it too danced around the 7/10 mark for freshness, suggesting a slight detour from the garden's embrace. The service, however, was unparalleled, a perfect 10/10, with staff moving with the precision and grace of seasoned culinarians, ensuring every need was anticipated and met with a smile.Presentation was an 8/10, each dish a canvas where color and form played in delightful harmony, inviting the eye to feast long before the palate. Overall, the experience was a solid 8.5/10, a delectable sojourn that promises to beckon the taste buds back to its doors. This taqueria, under the sage guidance of Jose, melds tradition with a hint of modernity, crafting an ambiance where each visit unfurls new layers of culinary delight.“
