“Tried the juice bubble tea and fries- fries had a perfect crunch and the juices were a great blend of sweetness and chewiness. However, the spices on the fries felt a bit flat and lacked depth. Overall, a decent snack with bubble tea, but the seasoning could use some improvement. Place is small with a few seats, but i will say the price is perfect“

“The chicken momos here are sooo good. It comes with the soup even if you don’t ask for it, which makes the experience of eating momos here much better. Of course you can request them to not add the soup in though. Also, the bubble tea here is really really good. It tastes exactly how the fruit is supposed to taste (ex: lychee bubble tea does taste like lychee). Since it mostly just serves bubble tea and momos, I’ve only tried those and giving feedback for them. Service is great, they’re so respectful and nice to you. Atmosphere gets 4 stars because the place isn’t always comfy. The pricing is great too.“

“I live in the neighborhood, and I usually come here to gran coffee, baked foods and even regular cakes, but this time I ordered a custom cake, and it came out really cute! The design looked just like I asked for, except the color was a little different, however, the cake still looked beautiful, everything was perfect.
It also tasted yummy - fresh, soft, and not too sweet. The staff who helped me while ordering was very nice and helpful as well. The price was affordable. Thank you for making this lovely cake and making my moment more special. Will order again custom cakes in future.“

I wish I got 25% sugar instead of half but it still tasted good. My friend got the mango coconut boom and she liked it.“

“These were some of the best drinks I’ve had in New York City. The Matcha was such high-quality and you could choose the sweetness level, which I really appreciate because sometimes I find Matcha not sweet enough plus they use fresh strawberries, and it made such a big difference. We also got the Ube coffee, which was so original. We also got the passionfruit green tea with Boba and Jelly, which was so refreshing and tasty! The staff was so nice and friendly and I highly recommend this place.“

“I’ve been coming here for close to a decade and the drinks have always been consistently great, with kind and fast service. I usually make a mad dash here after waiting in the Wah Fung line and the owner is always courteous to let me eat outside food in his store, which he doesn’t have to do. There’s lot of chain options on this block (KFT, Molly a few steps away, etc) but I always come back here because the tea is great (I love the Oolong Peach!) and not corporate-backed. “I’ve visited Modern Tea Shop before, and was super happy with my drink (rose milk tea). Today I decided to try it again and go for a different flavor! They have a lot of floral-inspired teas which is unique and a great reason to go. I got the matcha jasmine milk tea (oat milk) with boba (50% sugar), and thought it was 7/10. The oat milk wasn’t as creamy, so it caused the drink to be a bit watery unfortunately. Also, the jasmine flavor was not very pronounced, either due to the way it’s made or the sugar level I chose. Not sure I would get that drink again, but would recommend the rose milk!“

The strawberry heart jelly was unique so I couldn’t help but try it!! I was told that the brown sugar milk tea was good as well and the prices are very reasonable considering the size (they only have one size, the drinks are about $5.50 but it might depend what you get) I’ll definitely come back again to try their other drinks, food, and desserts. They sell ice cream and mochi donuts too! They have a kiosk where you can order from and indoor seating. The service is fast.“

Small unassuming shop with a few seats.

We (2) ordered three rolls (eel avocado / shrimp tempura/ spicy salmon) and the chirashi.

Everything came out presented very nicely - see photos

I was very impressed with both the quantity of food and the quality of the fish. Everything was very fresh.

The only thing I did not like was that the spicy salmon roll and these small crispy bits in them. This is likely a personal preference but I would maybe ask to have them prepare it without next time.

Price / value on this place is excellent.

“BEST brown sugar boba tea I’ve ever had in my life—and I’ve had a LOT of them. Place was clean and felt contemporary and the staff were very pleasant. The boba balls were absolutely delicious and felt soft and fresh and tender, unlike the hard and somewhat frozen ones other stores and franchises frequent. I’ve come to this place anytime I’m around Astor and they never fail to disappoint. You can also see where they keep their boba, adding to the guaranteed fresh quality. The drink itself is also incredibly yummy and I love the caramelized sugar they add on the top. Great place!“
