“I hate leaving outstanding reviews anymore, only because the place starts getting overwhelmed, the staff gets burnt out, and conditions seem to get worse. “Seemed like a cool, small place. About half a dozen taps and several domestic and Canadian bottled beers as well as a full bar. Bartender was very friendly and talkative. There was a food menu but I didn't try any of it so I'm not sure if it's good. It's bigger than it looks, pool table in the back with a few high top tables. I think it's cash only but they do have an ATM.“

“Veranda is a quaint restaurant bar with plenty of outdoor seating in the summer. I would highly recommend their Happy Hour Surf and Turf. . It is a small filet and shrimp with asparagus and potatoes. The happy hour portion is perfect for me. If you are a big eater you can order two of them. At $14 apiece it is still a great value! The atmosphere is older adults and the inside is cozy. Outside, festive lights create a relaxed and carefree summer feeling. In the summer they have live bands outside and dancing. On occasion there may be an acoustic type singer inside creating a pleasant dining experience. There is plenty of free parking!I gave service lower rating only because the bartender is not very friendly. I have been there several times for happy hour and she rarely smiles and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. One time, when she waited on me she said “ You only have minutes to put your Happy Hour order in”. Maybe she is having a difficult time, but you think the phrase “ Happy Hour” might dictate being Happy!“

“Went to the Avon location for lunch with my grandsons. I was worried as it took a bit of time to get a table even though we were the only ones in line and there were a number of open tables. Well my worries were for naught. The service turned out to be awesome and the food was great. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a casual place with good food, good drinks and great service!“
“Food was great. My only complaint would be the Queso. It came to the table luke warm but the flavor was good. The birria torta was great but wish it came with a side of consommé to dip the sandwich in cause it was a little dry but very flavorful. The chili was delicious!“

“After a long exciting day at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we needed fuel before our return to Chicago. We googled "food near us", not wanting a chain. The rating was about 4.5 so we decided to try it. Initially I asked the other patrons if food is actually served there, and they pointed to an area where the owner was cooking. He was genuine and warm, we ordered beverages before he returned to the kitchen to finish another customer's food order. My gyros was terrific and flavorful and my husband's club sandwich was also loved. It was clear the French fries were fresh - we are some even though trying to hold up to our resolutions to eat more healthily. One comment mentioned by a previous reviewer, yes it is a bar with a grill and not a restaurant per se. It would be helpful if the ambiance was enhanced a bit so females felt more at home. The bathrooms could use some TLC, and the floor tiles a nail or two to prevent tripping. Looking at it through a new set of eyes is the way to go. Think: date not boy's club and attract a new crowd. “My Wife and I went to Mahle's Friday the 22nd for our 38th wedding anniversary. because we were eating early we didn't think we would need reservations but upon arrival we were told that with the walk-ins they had and the reservations on the books they were full. We mentioned to Beverly that we had traveled a considerable distance, upon hearing that she found us a perfect spot in the corner of the back dining room. My gyro-connoisseur husband liked, but did not love the gyro. The pita bread looked amazing, and I was told it was. I had the kitchen salad with grilled chicken, which was juicy and flavorful. We’ve had a waitress a few times that is excellent but we’ve had a couple of other servers that were good but not great which makes the service a bit inconsistent for me. “Great hole in the wall bar where there are usuals rather than random patrons. If you're looking for a place to become a regular at then this is the place. They have one pool table and darts. Food is coming soon as the city approves. They didn't have my liquor of choice but they did have three kinds or Crown so I settled but the more I go and become a regular then they said they would definitely stick my drink. Friendly crowd, very welcoming and open to conversation. Simply put, I had a great time with my brother and felt right at home.“
