“Brandy is the best bartender there. She works the bar really well by herself. Any other time i go and there are two or more bartenders it takes 20mins to get a drink. I stay close by so i have been a few time different times of the day. I am a tipper unless my service really sucked so that isn't the problem. Go see Brandy she is really good.“

“We stopped in after a movie for a late dinner. Our server was Lauren who was excellent. She answered all of our questions about the menu with a smile! We enjoyed a wonderful Rueben Sandwich and the 3 sausage appetizer (had it for dinner) and a bowl of french onion soup. Everything was delicious and well made. A good portion for the price too! After we finished dinner we moved to the bar where Conner made us german cake martini and a large pilsner served in a boot! He sure knew a lot about the history of the restaurant and the area! e split a piece of the tres lechs that we were told was homemade. We truly can't wait to come back to Columbus to dine here again. “Not able to make it to Deutschland? Don't sweat it, Valter's is the stateside equivalent. The tentative staff will make you feel like you were in a restaurant right in the heart of Berlin. Valter himself came to the table and made sure the food and beer were perfect. Great staff, beer and food!“

“South High School held their annual picnic there, after a two year hiatus. It was held outside, as it has been in previous years. There were 3 food trucks, a pay bar, a shelter house, a huge tent farther out in the lawn area & a stage where a DJ played songs from the 60's & 70's. PLENTY of outdoor beautiful space to reunite with former classmates.If you have a large event you want held outside, inquire for prices & accommodations.“

“This location used to be a favorite of mine but I haven't been in awhile. Overall had a good experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was great, the wings were nice & crispy, and I think this time I found a new favorite sauce combo of nukiller + Carolina gold (my always go-to is donkey+ garlic). “We hosted an event here on the 16th and it was perfect. Everything they committed to was followed through and the bartender was great. The space it lovely and we only slightly decorated to personalize it. I would have an event here again anytime. We didn’t actually get food from them, but the drinks were fantastic.“

“My husband, an original South Sider, loves this bar. I go reluctantly out of love for him and I guess I really can’t complain about this Columbus dive bar. We’ve gone randomly during the afternoon on weekdays and the atmosphere is pretty chill. The service has always been great, my husband enjoys chit chatting with the daytime bartender who also happens to have grown up on the south side. I tend to be less chatty so their Keno machine is a highlight for me and they have a good liquor selection.“

“This is my first time here and I am impressed with how attentive the bartender was. The drinks were poured really well and the bartender was very intuitive and informative about about the different spirits. The jukebox was pretty cool and the pool tables were pristine, although they cost $1.25 versus the standard $1.00 elsewhere in the city. It is a little small but make up for it with the amazing atmosphere. It is nestled right on the corners of Detroit and 4th streets and can easily be missed if you are not paying attention. Then you would be sorry because it really is a lovely little gem.“

“Breckenridge peanut butter is a pretty great dark beer if you're looking for a savory drink. Hop valley bubble stash is good if you're looking for a sweet beer. The place looked pretty cool, it had a pool table and three dart boards. A great place if you're a student in OSU's college town area and want a place you can walk to.“

“Visited Columbus and searched a nearby place for lunch and decided on City Tavern based on location and reviews. We were not disappointed. I ordered the mushroom dip appetizer. Wow! Absolutely delish and unique. The side salad was nice and generously portioned with mixed greens and not cheap iceburg lettuce. My parents ordered the Italian sub, onion petals, wings, and apple pecan salad, and said they were very good too. Good variety of beer, and enjoyed the music. I also appreciated the phone charger station. Will definitely consider returning if back in the area.“

“I was visiting town alone and wanted a place to hang out and maybe meet some nice people. Local Bar was it! The bartender, Taylor, was amazing and made me feel like a friend within no time. The other patrons were a good time as well. This place was one of the more enjoyable bars I've been to in a long time. Taylor made a great drink - the "Taylor's Special" - that was perfect! I loved it!“

“Mac's Proper Pub has been on my radar for a few years because my best friend took me there to try the sauerkraut balls, and I've been going back to have them ever since then. Recently I discovered that they have a great happy hour which includes half off apps and specialty cocktails, so off I went to have a dinner of apps. My order included scotch eggs, fried brie, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken fingers, and of course the sauerkraut balls. The scotch eggs were tasty-- served cut in half with a dipping sauce, and they were better than any scotch eggs I've had in the past. Crispy and delicious, especially with the gluttonous cream cheese dip. The fried brie is also very tasty-- served with slices of toast and definitely not as stinky or strange as brie can often be, more palatable because it's fried with a crispy outside. This is a great 'intro fried brie' for those who it may be too strong for normally. The spinach and artichoke dip is yummy and served with interesting sliced curly-esque fries. I loved the fries I just wish there was a bit more dip so I wasn't left with so many extra fries and nothing to dip them in. The chicken fingers were pretty average. Not a whole lot to say about those and probably wouldn't order them again. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce they were served with. The sauerkraut balls did not disappoint as usual-- sauerkraut and sausage all wrapped together and served fried with ranch(?) to dip them in. I'm not crazy about the dipping sauce but the portion is pretty large-- it comes with 6 sauerkraut balls that take at least 2-3 bites to finish. The bar itself is long and slender with an incognito room with a pool table in the back that I just noticed on this trip, despite having been there many times before. I'll definitely be back to blow off some steam with a game of pool during happy hour soon.“

Kudos to his hard work!They also had Great Lakes Christmas Ale on draught! Super yum!The only negative was my glass of water smelled like well done burger with a hint of burnt plastic. Had someone else smell it and they said it did have that odor, which, for me is unappetizing.“

They now offer parking across the street near St.Charles athletic building. Im glad they made this location bigger. I enjoy sitting outside in the patio area.“
