We sat at the bar and Heather was our bartender. She was fantastic! I highly recommend giving this bar a try. “Set inside the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Kresge Court offers a quiet setting for a break from visiting the art galleries. Or a refuge for studying. This is a lovely historic setting! The open air Italian palazzo-style courtyard was part of the museum's original 1927 design. It was covered with a glass roof in the 1960s as the museum was enhanced with two wings providing additional gallery space. It's been used as a cafe for more than 10 years now. Very appealing to visit as a respite or to grab a coffee or a cold beverage, a snack, or a meal. Our visit was for lunch. Party of 6. And the Harvest turkey sandwich proved to be irresistible as 4 enjoyed this Fall Menu offering, two with the homemade chips, two with a side salad. The other 2 had entree salads: the pear salad, and the sweet potato salad (that was me, and I so enjoyed this very different salad of yummy cooked sweet potato chunks on a bed of arugula with candied pecans, goat cheese, and a hint of onion)...absolutely delicious!!). Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. And the chips! Yummy!! Simply order at the counter; the food is brought to your table. And your table is bussed.“

Their food is extremely fresh, and I am amazed at the wide selection of choices they offer in their bright, and very clean cafe. Try their soups, usually 3 or 4 choices that change each day. I like to get their lamb shawermas too, and really, their mediterrabean offerings are tasty! They also do a bunch of yummy sandwiches made right on the spot to order. I tend to try their daily specials, as those are usually being prepared and cooked freshly just moments before lunchtime. You might find a mac n cheese one day, a lasagne the next. Today I'm enjoying their spiced chicken. You can clearly see all of the ingredients offered, and if you arrive early in the day, they do a breakfast selection to keep you going. As their clean, bright, cozy space is take-out only, the outdoor deck is only 20 feet away, a nice place to eat on non-Winter days. There is a padded bench just inside nearby in a pinch. They're a family business, so please do come and satisfy your hunger.“

“Stopped by to order two drinks— lemon mint and honey avocado. The service was quick and we got the fresh drinks under 5 minutes. The lemon mint had a lot of fresh mint and was kind of like a slushee because of the amount of crushed ice and sugar. The honey avocado was smooth and definitely more filling. While we were waiting for the drinks, got a glimpse of the fresh fruits. All the fruits looked fine other than the strawberries which were covered with white mold. Would not recommend any of the strawberry drinks after seeing the strawberries.“

“This place is amazing. Turkish coffee is delicious and my favorite. I enjoy my regular coffee with heavy whipping cream, maple syrup and cinnamon. However, I took a sip of the Turkish coffee just as it was prepared and was delicious and full of flavor. Extra hot (my request), plain with a layer of smooth syrup coffee grounds on the bottom. Yes, sounds odd, but don't judge until you try it. True coffee lovers will appreciate the smooth taste. The service was wonderful and the staff was willing to answer any questions. “First time at Sams coffee the food was beautiful. We had the streaky bacon brioche with scrambled eggs, cheddar and fresh chives, every mouth full was so tasty the bacon was crispy, not greasy it was light it actually reminded me of bacon frazzle crisps it was that light. The scrambled eggs were so light and fluffy perfectly paired with the toasted brioche bun. To drink I had a chemex coffee using a Kenyon blend it was fruity and full of flavor. Then to finish a flat white which was beautiful. I highly recommended Sams Coffee we will be back very soon“

The ambience was also great; the indoor seating area had a calm, cozy vibe. Most people were working or studying, so it wasn't too loud, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done.“
