“The food was delicious and very beautifully presented. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of their service. The waitress forgot to bring one of our foods that we had ordered. There were no utensils and napkins on the table. It was busy so every time we had to wait until we would be able to get a hold of them.“

“LOVE Sapporo sushi!! I feel like this store is so hidden that it's an easy miss, but if you're ever looking for a sushi shop with delicious rolls I highly recommend! First time coming I ordered the Salmon Magic Roll (not pictured) and the roll was stuffed with filling and so saucy and yummy, different than any other salmon rolls I've had in the past. I've also tried their dinner special that comes with a hand roll and it was also very good! Service was also so friendly and staff were super attentive. Would definitely recommend!!“

“I recently visited Shunoko and it was such a lovely experience. The service was exceptional and the food was fresh and delicious. It's always a pleasure to go there, and it never fails to put me in a happy mood. I have been coming to this restaurant since they started at St. Clair Ave. and now relocated to Yonge St.“

“The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.“

“Was in the neighborhood and found this place on Google maps... So happy I did! Lunch for three was delicious, mostly salmon sushi, but I tried the dynamite and California rolls too. On a cold winter day the Miso soup and tea were perfect. It was under $60 for three of us including tip. What a ace!
Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian section on the menu, the cucumber rolls were great.
Kid-friendliness: There is a kids meal on the menu, tempura, teriyaki chicken, California roll, and a bit more.
Wheelchair accessibility: The front door may be tricky (not automatic) but it is WC accessible.“

“Toro Toro Sushi is specialized in torched maki roll, with fancy names such as Emperor & Empress, Hidden Dragon, Fantacy, all full of flavors ( price ranged from $11 to $14, highly recommended). Their poke bowel is also good with fresh and yummy ingredients. The store is quite small, only about 10 tables for 2 people setting, very crowded especially when half of the store with people standing and waiting to take out. Not a great place to dine in. The service is ok, efficient, but seldom see smiles. I would recommend to take out some speciality rolls and poke bowel, not to dine in.“

“The best sushi restaurant in Toronto. I think this is saying something since we have Sushi Moto and Sushi Tomo and many other fancy but silly names, not including the AYCE variety. But why have you deigned to sit here in the middle of nowhere, excepting a nearby guitar store and a "university" everyone commutes to? Beats me, but I appreciate you Genji and I solemnly accept there must be a reason for you being closed on Sunday and refusing to deliver. We must have misused that privilege. I'm sorry.
So anyways, let me give you some proper info.
The cost of rolls (special rolls like dragon "xyz" and all) is $15-20. I never saw one for more than twenty and they are exquisite. Very tight pieces, 8-10, but not small. This plus something else is a meal.
Hand rolls are expensive in my experience. Each one is $5 (that's one single green edible paper cone [i don't care] filled with fish and rice). The spicy tuna one is $7 last i checked, and my favourite; spicy salmon is also fantastic. Genji is probably a foot taller than anyone else when it comes to handrolls. Definitely try it.
Shrimp tempura are A+. One time i got takeout and ran into a friend and sat chatting before I remembered I had gotten the tempura. It had been 90 minutes but when i dipped it in the sweet water-sauce i understood "some crispiness lost is still Genji competing with Genji." If you like breaded things they take it quite seriously.
Kalbi- it's good but Kalbi is kalbi as long as you have that kalbi sauce. Appetite will be a scarce commodity here man.
Party trays. An excellent investment though they've gone up in price. Now it's $60 plus for two people. Sushi + sashimi is a diverse selection.
Uni is great. I was curious but worried considering... what they are. People say it's bitter, i dunno what it is but it melts in your mouth and has an enduring taste. Also costly, i think $10+ for a few pieces.
Sake is the ideal partner. I think i could seduce any girl with a sushi dinner here and sake. Only problem is I would get drunk first and so i prefer...
Sapporo. I know it's just a brand but I like it a lot here. Best beer with sushi.
"Dinner" menu. Never tried it. It's probably more cost-effective than my A la Carte entitlement.
Dining in. Quiet atmosphere with those hard Japanese curtains. There's always space. I don't really get it and then i do also. York U newspaper gave us a list of the best dining sites in the area. Never mentioned Genji. On-campus sushi costs five bucks less and I hurt my teeth on the fridge(freezer?)-cold rice.
*Take out. Bring cash.
Service is great. I think Japanese service is usually special, treating delicacy as an art form (like origami!). They've always been unassuming and patient with me. All waitresses I believe. Although once, when I was looking for a part-time job I dropped by. They broke into laughter as soon as i handed them my resume. I was pretty hurt, i thought I'd get some graceful bows amidst all the rejections that day... Anyways that was the one time. AND ONE TIME IS ENOUGH TO DAMN YOU, I AM REMOVING A STAR NOW GENJI YOU HEAR THAT ONLY 4 FOR YOU HAH WHAT CAN YOU POSSBLY DO NOW!!!!!!..... no i'm not, just wanted to be a super villain but i mean who even reads this. i didn't read heart of darkness and i got an A on the book report... what's that about? i will though. i mean it's out of copyright, i ought to. supposed to be good. teacher never said 'this book is good' though, he said something else. maybe he didn't read it either.
The only thing that is unoriginal is the wasabi. It's not some dragon nasal spray, it's the regular wasabi. But i guess that's like saying the ketchup at a proclaimed burger joint is regular Heinz.
Anyway enjoy your visit fellow idiot who never“

“If you’re looking for AYCE sushi, the prices are quite affordable here! The sashimi is fresh and there’s many rolls too choose from. There’s also Chinese food like dim sum and fried rice to order here too. All the food comes out very quickly after ordering. The prices for Monday to Thursday is cheaper than Friday to Sunday. Lunch is also cheaper than dinners. They also offer a-la-carte option if you are not feeling ayce.“

“Seriously a hidden gem. The food was delicious and affordable, the lady at the counter was super sweet, and the place was really comfortable and clean. I got the Lunch Special (Lunch B), which is dynamite roll with udon. For the lunch set it comes with salad, for the rolls it comes with Miso soup, and both served with tea or water. My friend got the Orange Dragon sushi and the salmon was really fresh and tasted awesome. Everything tasted amazing. The portion was really good, I was really full after this meal. This is my happy place whenever I come to Vaughan and now I’m typing this I want to come again already!“

“TLDR: A really good find of a place because they have a vast menu of Korean foods, and Japanese ones as well. They also offer good drink deals, and fresh sashimi.
-[SPIDER ROLL] $16.99
? Deep fried softshell crab, avocado, fish egg, and topped with mayo
? This one honestly didn't have much of the softshell crab flavor to it if I'm being honest
? Makes it a good version for people to try if they've never had softshell crab before
-[SPICY SALMON ROLL] $7.99
? Their version actually does have a kick to it which is not the norm
? I actually couldn't quite put my finger on what was different about their spicy salmon vs other ones until I discussed it haha
? The roll is HUGE for a six piece maki so quite worth it if you ask me
-[HAEMUL PAJEON] $23.99
? This is a seafood pancake that is savory aka not the kind you put maple syrup on
? Had assorted seafood in it like squid, and imitation crab, but also had mushrooms, green onions, and onions as well
? This was well seasoned, and panfried well which made it crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. I honestly thought it didn't need a dipping sauce because of that but it does come with one
-[YUK HWE] $23.99
? Raw beef sashimi topped with egg that is also served with Asian pear/cucumber matchsticks
? My goodness, the portion of this was HUGE in a good way
? I really liked their version of this, and will 100% be ordering it again because the flavor of it was 10/10, and I found myself topping my other foods with it to elevate the overall dining experience
-[UNAGI DON] $18.99
? This was barbecue eel served on a bed of assorted vegetables all on top of rice
? I did honestly think the sautéed vegetebles (beansprouts, carrots, onions) they chose were odd originally but I will admit they ended up working well with the flavors of the eel
? A sizable portion for sure
? They do have fresh fluke/flounder sashimi that I have a lot of interest in coming back to try
? I didn't have any drinks (this time) because I had work later that night but they definitely had some good deals to return for ?“

“I have ordered takeout from this sushi place seven times in the past. Three times for family member's birthday occasions and twice for workplace lunch. All of my orders were for large sized party trays of either sashimi only, sushi/sashimi or maki rolls. Their food is always fresh and well- presented. Not many people know of this place because they're located inside York Farmers Market which is a shame. My co-workers who have tried the maki rolls I've brought from this place all loved the food and asked me where I got them from.“

“Miyako has been our sushi spot for years. No matter which new restaurant we try, we always go back to Miyako. The owner is friendly and always smiles and waves on pickup and the sushi is the best in the city. The proportion of rice in the rolls is perfect and not the mention the quality of the rice. You won’t get it like that anywhere else that you dine. It’s perfectly seasoned and doesn’t fall apart like rolls you get elsewhere. The cucumber is perfectly cut and you aren’t chomping into thick slices of cucumber in your roll. The only thing I would prefer is if the sashimi was cut a bit thinner (but that’s a personal preference). We love Miyako and always swear by it. Our staple roll is the dynamite roll. It’s definitely a mouthful, but it is so well done.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Sparkly Restaurant, a Japanese-Thai all-you-can-eat spot, thanks to a thoughtful gift certificate from one of my coworkers, a nurse at the hospital. It was my first time trying this place, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety of dishes that were fresh and full of flavor. The sushi was beautifully presented, the Thai curries were perfectly spiced, and the appetizers were a great start to the meal. The service was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and efficient, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I truly enjoyed every aspect of my visit and would highly recommend Sparkly Restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese or Thai cuisine, this place has something for everyone. I can’t wait to go back!“

“Can’t comment much on service and atmosphere since I had to go.
Their omakase to go was def great. Had the two person omakase and they come in a cute styrofoam box.
Fish variety is pretty similar to other omakase. Overall was good just going to point out the two that didn’t taste as well (Mackerel and Ikura) compared to all the other omakase I’ve been to. Besides that it was pretty stellar for a togo experience. Oh and uni and ikura were a bit in the smaller side as well
Parking: Free parking lot in a plaza but may be crowded as there’s a lot of restaurants“
