“Big fat indulgent gourmet cookies! Before buying, I was a bit concerned about the sweetness level because there were some previous comments about the cookies being too sweet or not sweet enough. I'm happy to say that it was perfect for me. It's less sweet that the typical cookies from a supermarket. But it's not so low in sugars that it's diabetic friendly.“

“Wonderful, inclusive folks! Very nice staff, who were very helpful. This may seem like an odd thing to say, but it was really great that they made sure they rented an accessible portable washroom for their large market event. As I was sporting crutches (I recently broke my ankle), it was a total life saver that I didn’t need to take the stairs! Not sure if the port-a-potty is an “always” thing, but just the fact that they had it for their street market when so many folks wouldn’t even think of it made me grateful. Not as impressed with the tiramisu, which was an odd kind of foamy/gelatiny something. And they really need to get a handle on the amount of plastic waste - even the plastic forks were wrapped in plastic; each cake slice wrapped in plastic; plastic plastic plastic. At least find something biodegradable, there's things on the market now! I would definitely go again but I'd bring my own mug and fork.“

“Cute little cafe, great coffee. I always get a latte and it's always good. The inside is usually pretty full when I've been and it's a bit dark inside but has a unique atmosphere since it's in an old industrial kind of building. They also have a few outdoor tables which is nice. I've always walked or biked here but there is street parking and a small parking lot too.“

“As a student at the University of Ottawa I would visit the pub often because not only it's the most convenient but, professors also find it the best place to have the informal gatherings after hardcore academic sessions.I hosted a techno night called Make Me Bad Mondays here for about one academic year. It was no success, I must say because people are not really into techno in Ottawa. But anyways I had my practice and here and there there would be really great moments when people appreciated the music.I was also part of the Ontario People's Interest Research Group where we organized Alt 101 week, International Worker's Day and a few other programs mainly focusing on introducing new local artists and bringing community together to chat about activism and so on.The setting is really accommodating for student events. I never got to turn it into a club for my weekly, which was a pity.But anyways, good ol Nostalgica.“

“We went in a class trip to the playground, and called ahead to let them know the students would be buying ice cream at the Beach Shack. It turned out to be a rainy day and they opened for the students so that the students wouldn’t be disappointed. They were friendly, kind and helpful to the students and we appreciated the fantastic service. This is the second time we have taken our students here and would highly recommend the Beach Shack.“

“This cafe is a hidden gem in Ottawa! The smash burger was delicious and juicy plus they had a great selection of beverages and snacks. Great place to grab & go or to sit down for a while and do some work. I would recommend as a great place for working + to grab a bite to eat ! “I came two nights in a row, and while I love your frozen yogurt and toppings, I wanted to leave a review for your staff! The two young girls (first with long brown hair in a ponytail and second with brown hair in a bun with a chopstick) working around 8pm tonight were lovely. I’m sorry I didn’t catch their names. The girl with the bun remembered me from last night. The store had stickers of all the mascots, except Chip (he happens to be the employee’s favourite too). When I saw the employee again tonight, she told she thought of me today and wanted to bring her temporary tattoos of Chip in case I came back (so cute and sweet)! As for the second employee (ponytail), I told her I was annoyed for them every time customers sampled and carelessly spilled yogurt. She smiled and said that she was there “for that”. I find it admirable to see teens that are willing to work hard, all while having an amazing attitude!“

“Hey there! We ordered for the first time last nite and everything was great! We both got the Club wrap which was very fresh and tasty:). We also ordered a small roasted potatoes with garlic sauce...so yummy!“

“I would normally give this Bridgehead 5 stars - BUT....The "but" is that they used to close at 7 PM (which I always thought was a little early - but could live with it). Last time I was there, they announced they were closing at 6 PM as "Winter Hours."Now, I could see them closing early to save some money if the place was a dead zone - but it is not. A lot of people go there. Lots of people stay and sit inside, and a lot of people do "to go." When my friends and I are there, it has never been empty. Never! Now, we will have to find another coffee place to meet at - because closing for the day at 6 PM is just too early for us. We will miss it, sadly.(Avoid the burrito - as it is a tasteless letdown, apparently. )

Vegetarian options: They generally have baked vegan and gluten-free treats (if you are hungry).

Dietary restrictions: They make a good vanilla bean latté with oat milk (not quite as good as the Starbucks version - but okay).“
