“Joyous is the best restaurant in North York. Great and friendly service. Dim sum and dinner dishes are delicious and price is reasonable. Good quality scallops and shrimps dishes! Overall good quality food, friendly service and delicious meals! Everytime we dine in this restaurant, always have a great meal. And the restaurant is clean and pleasant, especially their washrooms, always clean and no wet floors , unlike other Chinese restaurants… sticky, wet floors and stinky smells. Keep up the good work! “This is probably one of my favorite clay pot rice places. I was initially unhappy with the takeout but dining in is definitely a whole other experience. I came at around 6 and it wasn’t as full then but not long after, more people started showing up and this place fills up fast. I got the chicken and preserved meat with double meat and I promise, getting double meat is well worth it. It’s so deeply savory and filling and I was easily able to have leftovers for the following day. The crispy rice adds such great texture and the chicken is unbelievably tender. Will happily go back and get the eel rice again with double meat this time.“

“We've lived close to this restsuesnt for a few years, but never thought to go in until I saw it on a list of highly rated Chinese restaurants in the city. We decided to check it out, and we're so glad we did - it is now our favourite Chinese food spot in the area. While there are similar restaurants in the area, the quality here is a few levels higher. As well, prices are a little lower and the service is really good. Our favourite dishes were the fried rice, har gow, siu mai, green beans, and bbq duck & pork.“

“Bayview Kitchen is an absolute hidden gem for Chinese food! Every dish we ordered was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and incredibly delicious. It's one of those low-key restaurants that doesn't need flashy decor because the food speaks for itself.

One thing that really stood out was the staff. The serving aunties genuinely seem to love what they do, and you can feel it in the warm, caring atmosphere they create. Their friendliness makes the whole dining experience feel welcoming and comfortable.

The restaurant is also very clean and well kept, which is always appreciated. Most dishes are around $10–20, and the portions are generous—large enough to leave you satisfied or even have leftovers. They also don't skimp on the ingredients. Their stir-fries, fried rice, fried noodles, and soups all have an excellent meat-to-vegetable ratio, so you actually get plenty of protein in every bite instead of mostly vegetables.

A nice touch is that if you dine in, they serve a complimentary bowl of tong sui (Chinese sweet dessert soup), which is a thoughtful way to end the meal. They also do takeout very well—the food travels nicely and the portions are just as generous.

“First time here and first time trying Shendu cuisine. It did not disappoint. The place was packed but it did not slow the kitchen down. We were a group of 13 and ordered 13 dishes. Variety and flavors were exceptional. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.“

“I ordered the combo with rice and two meats. The roast pork had perfectly crispy skin while staying juicy, and the roast duck was well-seasoned and tender. I thought the rice to meat ratio could have been better, especially for the duck, which costs $2 extra.

Keep in mind that it's cash only and there's no dine-in seating, so it's more of a takeout spot. Overall, the quality of the BBQ is worth checking out if you're in the area and I would definitely revisit to try other menu items.“

“Amazing. Fresh super busy food doesn’t sit long. The crispy ginger chicken is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I’m surprised the owner recognizes me as I’ve only been 3 times. This was the first place I ate at outside my house for 3 years we didn’t because of Covid. Now I go every Friday. It’s a hidden gem and a must try. Be careful you may get addicted.“

“Sitting on the corner intersection in Chinatown, an iconic Hong Kong style BBQ restaurant easily recognized by the array of chicken, duck and even half a pig hanging for everyone to gaze upon from the sidewalk.
Tried their half and half with chicken and duck as well as their wonton soup ($32 after tax & tip).
If you can't pick little bones apart, be wary of eating the dish. The flavors of the meat are great (the chicken had a more pronounce soy sauce flavour), I'd rate it a 4.2/5.

“I recently visited the Tender Trap Restaurant and tried their chilli chicken fried rice and chilli chicken noodles. The taste was amazing, and the portion sizes were huge for the price. “Stir fried beef chow fun on the right (乾炒牛河) and fried egg noodle with beef and seasonal vegetables on the left (時菜牛肉炒麵). BOTH together for only $17.00 ($8-$9 each) taxes included AND complimentary drink (chrysanthemum tea/soy milk) OR soup of the day. This is value town. Prices cannot be beat, especially in this economy. Not only is it economical, it rivals if not exceeds sit down restaurant quality and taste. Both ladies working the register are very pleasant to deal with. Highly recommended. One of my go-to Chinese take-out spots!“

If you want something fast and not needing to wait in like for those Hong Kong Style Cafe in Markham, this is the place!

It is technically open kitchen😂so everything is made fresh upon your eyes.

I love their pan fried vermicilii and hong kong style ice milk tea! (It can get bitter sometimes so ask for more sugar, they are nice)

“When I was working at Guangdong TV station more than 30 years ago, I often went to the nearby "Dake" food stall to eat. Stir-fried beef rice noodles, hand-pulled rice rolls, chicken rice porridge, braised pig intestines, cold melon beef, etc. were all must-haves for us. Called Xiaodian. Unexpectedly, a "Dake" porridge, noodle and porridge shop opened in Toronto many years ago. The store's hand-pulled rice rolls have thin, tender skin, and the porridge is made with authentic ingredients, full of flavor, and is reasonably priced. Worth recommending.“

“Best Chinese food in Toronto. Every time I come here, service is great and quick, and most importantly the food is amazing every single time. They have a large interior with many large tables for big groups. The restaurant is clean & tidy and feels like it has a very authentic atmosphere. The price for the food is also very reasonable.

My favorite dishes are the General Tso chicken, Szechuan beef, yung chow fried rice and the shanghai noodle.“

“Gourmet Kitchen is tucked away in the corner food court at the Silver Star plaza. Got the lo mai fan (Cantonese sticky rice) and it was so flavourful!! Rice was well made and there was a very good variety and portion of toppings. Their service is fast and meals even come with a drink. Remember to bring cash!“

“This a neighbourhood gem of a place. The food is very good. It's tasty and a great value. I go there frequently with a friend and they are always so friendly and welcoming.

I have also gotten delivery and they are very quick! They have their own delivery guy so you don't need to use an app. You can call them, just like the olden days! They also have online ordering without using an app. FYI, this is better than using an app as you don't have to wait for a driver to get to the restaurant since they have their own.

It's obviously a favourite place in the neighbourhood because I see a lot of takeout going out when I eat in.

Their dining room is pleasant and clean. It might benefit from some softer furnishings but it's otherwise comfortable.

The servers I've met there are always friendly and attentive. It's also a great place to go when you're hungry because the food comes out quick!

Yep, it is real and is not the Indian Hakka that we always see!!!!

Stuffed peppers and tofu was really yummy!

“Yesterday I took 3 buses just to get here, and it was absolutely worth the trip. As someone who lived in Guangzhou for 5 years and ate plenty of braised goose there, I was genuinely impressed by the quality here.🪿The meat is firm and flavorful, and it’s rich without being greasy.
On top of the amazing food, the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming🥺Their hospitality made me feel genuinely warm and appreciated as a customer🥹

“I have been back twice and definitely plan to return! We went there specifically for their frozen dim sum. They come in huge packs yes so their Shrimp Dumpling will cost you 30 for 50 pieces which works out to be .60 each. Their quality is good. Their regular dumpling also good. This time we tried their japanese black sesame bun and i thought its really very good. Its not too sweet and super soft. And no this isnt some family promo. I think I like this japanese black sesame bun more than most dim sum restaurant dessert buns. My husband likes their lotus wrap dumpling. Plan to be back.“
