“if you go through my reviews, you'll see that reviewing restaurants is kind of my thing. I love to cook great food so I don't go to restaurants as much as most others do, but when I do go, I have expectations. Also, I have no desire to blow smoke up anyone's butt because I don't want to waste your time or my reputation. food means too much to me to lie to you so it is with pleasure that I write this review about Some Place Else!

let's start with proper expectations. Traditionally speaking, this is NOT a restaurant, it is more of a Tavern/bar that serves food so if you are looking for a fancy place to impress a first date, this is not the place, this might be where you go after the date if you like to sing karaoke but this, for lack of a better word is a blue collar joint!

On to the food. The food served here is simple, every day type food. burgers, fish and chips, wings and the odd sandwich. what makes this place special, is the Owner! I wish I got her name but she came to our table personally and made sure we understand what we ordered, made some suggestions if we wanted to save some money and explained options that were not exactly on the menu. for example, I ordered the philly cheese steak wrap, but she explained that I could also get it on a sub sandwich bun instead of the wrap and offered to cut up some green peppers if I wanted to put in the sandwich. The sandwich was very, very good and I'm so happy she offered the bun instead of the wrap. Also, the french fries are hand cut and tasted like real potatoes.. I didn't try the gravy but I wish I did because this was home made fresh stuff.
my wife got a burger, I tasted it and it wasn't some pre frozen burger patty, it was a home made, real beef burger and tasted nice. I got a look at the wings too and they were nice and big which is nice. The food came quickly and hot and with a smile. the prices were reasonable and the portions sizes were good.
what meant the most to me, is that you could tell that the owner cared about your experience and wanted to make sure you were happy and that, is a recipe for a good meal.

“As an older resident of St Catharines the only complaint I would mention is the God awful noise ...The younger generation love this I assume but I dont .We try and go at off times so its a bit quieter or sit in the back room . that helps ...BUT food and service always excellent !!“

“The Hidden Gem of Welland. We have been going to the Wings Block on King St for over a year now and have never been disappointed. Just got home from a late lunch there. Everything we ordered came beautifully presented, all of our food was fresh and tasted great. Our server Roxanne rounded out a great afternoon. Chicken wings were huge and reminded us of Buffalo wings 20 years ago in Buffalo. No bruises on these wings A1 quality . They actual use butter and hot sauce for the type of wings we chose. “Come to Niagara 5/6 times a year from Hamilton just to have a getaway with my wife for the weekend. I always eat at the usual spots on Clifton/ferry. We decided to try a small non chain spot today instead and we were highly recommended to this place. Sure glad we went. Huge wings, perfectly cooked with awesome sauce and 90 cents each. Amazing poutine (massive portion) and pitchers for only $14. 20 wings, poutine, a pitcher, kids chicken fingers, a pint, a milk for my boy, and a double rye all for under $70, and everything including the service was spot on. I’ll be back to eat every time I come to Niagara. Total hidden gem!“
