I was passing through Toronto, making time to go to the airport after an intense trip. I decided to go to the Senator Restaurant, so I could rest a little and eat something. Although they were about to arrive at closing time (it was December 24), they treated me wonderfully with a very welcoming kindness. Small intimate place that you can see was a classic dinner back in the 60's. Great food despite the smallish menu. Family owned and operated, the staff are all amazing. Always a good experience.

Not what it used to be.This was the first time I’ve been to The Senator in about 5 years and I have to say that it’s lost its je ne sais quoi. There was no buzz. No frenetic wait staff running around trying to keep up with orders, no hilarious host with seemingly unlimited anecdotes to entertain you. Now it’s just an average, and somewhat overpriced diner.
