The girl with short hair and glasses deserves a raise — she was constantly moving, taking orders, running food, clearing tables, holding doors, and keeping the place clean, all with a great attitude!! You could tell she worked hard and cared. It was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back. The margarita pizza with ranch was delish! Good texture and flavor. Very clean and modern place! “We came in about an hour before close, they welcomed us in and let us pick our seats. We were attended to promptly and got our orders in. The chef came out to ask if I was aware of what I was ordering (beef pho with only tripe, since I love tripe and my kids also love it and always steal most of it from me). I kindly let him know we did know and appreciated him making sure we knew what we were ordering. They seemed quite delighted that my young children (7 and 10) were enjoying the tripe so much. Towards the end, my daughter tried a piece of jalapeño that I had added and had been sitting in the soup and had been diluted. She decided that it was not spicy and brazenly attempted to eat a slice of raw jalapeño that came with the pho as well and immediately regretted it. She was in tears and the server was so nice and offered her candies to help with the spice. When she noticed it wasn't helping while I was trying to pay, she got the chef and he came back and gave my daughter milk that helped a bunch. They did not even charge extra, though I did offer. As we were leaving, my daughter gratefully looked up at me and said "mama, they're so kind" with her teary eyes and a smile. We will 100% be back. Super tasty food at a good price but most importantly, such lovely staff members. I am beyond grateful to them for our experience tonight.“

“Ordered the Pork Jjajang myun (best in Portland so far that I’ve tasted) and Seafood Jjambong although a bit spicy. Don’t let the restaurant name and exterior fool you. It’s authentic!“

If I was to critique anything, it would be that the steak was a little dry. Otherwise, I will come back here if I go to the food carts again. So far it has been the best one in that food cart pod.“

I have some allergies with MSG, so here in BEP there is no MSG in the food. My experience there was really good. With great employees and great service, I could tell that there were intention and care put into this place. Will be coming back soon.“

“First time trying & don't know what took me so long. I'm a big fan of Katsu Chicken but rarely order it especially if done with chicken breast. It's rare to find chicken breast not overly dry so avoid ordering it. They told me they use thigh meat for all their dishes so went with it. This was wonderful, cooked to perfection, & a huge amount of food. I will be eating on it for two days. The place was super clean & put the food out quickly. I can't wait to try some of their other dishes.“

Atmosphere is humble, and that's a good thing. Sometimes you need to be at a place like this that is cozy and comfortable on a Thursday afternoon. Oh yeah one thing to note that the service is very slow.

“It has been a long time since I’ve gone to a teriyaki restaurant because my wife has resisted it. Our friends wanted to go here and, I was excited, and my wife agreed. We both had the chicken teriyaki lunch special, which come with chicken teriyaki on a bed of white rice, a side of either sweet and sour chicken or three pot stickers, and a small side salad with a house dressing. I just assumed the sweet and sour chicken was what I receive in a Chinese restaurant. Boy was I wrong! It was like way over cooked fried chicken. It was so hard that it was difficult to eat and there was absolutely no sweet or sour flavor. My wife said the pot stickers were soft but did not taste very good. Fortunately, the teriyaki chicken was very good and adding the sauce to the rice made the rice very good. The house sauce on the salad was very good. The lunch special came with a soft drink and the entire lunch was $13.50. The lady behind the counter was very nice but speaks Japanese and very little English. I tried to tell her the chicken was almost inedible but she had no idea what I was saying. We do not live in Portland so there is almost no chance we will eat there again but I would recommend the chicken teriyaki with fried rice, which our friends had and they said it was very good.“

The tea rooms are beautifully decorated and the cup and saucer collection is impressive. The servers were so kind and attentive, and the views of the lake add to the ambiance. We love this place!“

“Had a friend visiting and were discussing what to eat for lunch, I suggested bahn mi sandwiches, to which since never having one, she was rather “meh”. After telling her how they’re nothing like boring American sandwiches, she agreed to give one a try. We were up at Mt. St. Helens, so I had some time to tell her how they were a staple where I grew up(Bay Area) and how great the last one I had a few years ago in Hawai’i was. Anyway, we finally arrive and having never been here previously, were super impressed with the layout and the vibe of the place. We both ordered pork belly sammys and an order of wontons. It was great to see the look on her face when she took the first bite, her eyes lit up and a smile followed. She now knew the culinary joy I had in my younger years. This place is funky and cozy in the best of ways, and the food is spot on and joyous the senses, plus the staff are super friendly and awesome! I live nowhere near this place(I’m in Canby) and would have no problem traveling here for another taste. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!!!!!“

“Super clean, great food. The service I would have given 6 stars the man in front helped us decide and gave us lots of recommendations which we needed! They have complimentary egg flour soup which I am usually not a fan of but was quite good. The chef came out and chatted with us after we got our food. So friendly! My kiddo got ramen which he said was the best noodle texture he's ever had. I got fried rice with shrimp and they made it spicy for me. It was flavorful warm and a huge portion. My husband got the beef and veggies which he said was great! We will definitely be back!“

The two times I've visited were off-hours, and both times I had service issues (awkward interactions, slow service, having meals served 5 minutes apart despite both being raw) that irk me given the combination of price tag and the restaurant not even being busy with plenty of staff around.
