“A funny near not funny thing happened in Starbucks parking lot at this location. I parked my car in the lot across and over a bit from Starbucks. My husband and I got out of the car and started walking towards the door and after a few steps we both took a bit of a dive downwards as the slope was steep and was not obvious. It would have been bad if we didn’t catch ourselves because we could have done a face plant right into the asphalt! OUCH! But maybe someone else might not have been so lucky and might have completed a face plant. Why they didn’t even out the grading is a mystery to me! It’s an accident waiting to happen. BTW, our drinks were fine.“

“Excellent coffee, consistently every time. I'm from out of town but I always get a cup when I visit Portland. The baked goods are excellent as well.
What really sets this place apart though is it seems like the staff are all very happy. They work together like a well oiled machine, greeting people by name when they come in and laughing and joking. It's nice to see a place feel sweet and homey, all while drinking some of the finest coffee I've had in Portland.“

“Wonderful coffee in a peaceful, simple ambiance. They are confident in the boldness of their roasting profiles and geographies, including beans sourced from various parts of Asia. I was treated with warmth and care - this was a very memorable experience and I will absolutely return each time I visit Portland.“
“I’ve been coming here since it opened and believe it’s by far the best place for coffee in SW and might be the best coffee spot in all of Portland. Joe and staff are all very nice and welcoming every time. I love their cortados and Matcha Lattes. And the large cozy space is perfect for meeting up and working on a laptop. It’s light and bright with lots of windows and some outdoor seating as well. The have a great selection of various coffee makers for sale and delicious pastries. A gift to the area!“

“They were informative and helpful when it came to picking my machine and grinder, but more than that, their service after the sale is second to none! Highly recommend their services! 10/10“

“Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Portland. (I worked in coffee for 10+ years so that’s sayin something.)
The staff is always exceptionally sweet and warm, even on busy mornings! The line can get a bit long— especially on weekends, but they’re generally really quick and efficient.
You can trust that every pastry and drink will be made with exceptional quality. My favorite pastries are the zucchini bread and cinnamon rolls (must arrive early on the weekends for those)!
Everything Keeper does is done with absolute excellence. I’ve never had a bad experience here, but I know that if I did, they’d make it right. I bring all my friends here for a reason. Best atmosphere, best people, best coffee, best treats. Love u, Keeper!“

“Safe and comfortable place to relax and work, when you need a place in a pinch to get some things done or just a place to unwind... nice find! Great staff... ALL VOLUNTEERS! Many businesses need to have their staff experience being served here, these people are volunteers and are respectful, cheerful, and nice; yet most paid servers here in Portland are not so respectful, cheerful, or nice, and are usually loudly complaining about their jobs. EASTSIDE COFFEE IS AWESOME!“

“Small place, but fun decor and incredible food. A ton of Studio Ghibli, Pokémon, and a few other anime decor all over. Small bar and 1 table for seating. The staff was very nice, but you order from a tablet at the register. All credit/debit, no cash.
One detail was a little off-putting. You need to ring a door bell to be let in to the restaurant due to security. Not a deal breaker for us, but kind of a bummer. Tablet ordering helps you to see what is available, but the staff sits behind the counter and waits for you to make your decisions. A little disappointing, but again, not a deal breaker.
If you like cutesy anime, this place is for you“

“Slowbomb is on my regular rotation because they have great coffee and they know what to do with it. The breakfast sandwich menu makes this place a one stop shop in the morning. You can text your sandwich order in ahead of time to make your stop more efficient as well. Cookies and pup cups too!“
“Tastes as good as it smells! Yum one of our favorites. Who thinks Starbucks when you have Spella!“
“My friend Julius just introduced me to Drip Drop Coffee. This place is Great! I love that this place is a black owned business. And run by young black men. The crowd was so diverse in here it was great! All colors and all ages.
The food, service, cleanliness and kindness here is amazing! Marcus and his team really enjoy and love what they do! You can tell by how the food is prepared and drinks are made. My friend had a Dude sandwich which looked so yummy! Two small waffles with egg and cheese in between. I think a sausage patty too. My friend's daughter had a hot chocolate and my friend had a coffee as well. It was pretty crowded so we had to wait for a few to sit down. But totally worth it. Parking is available on the streets right next to it and there is a paid parking garage as well right next to it. I will definitely be back!! Thank you Marcus and team for your kindness, hospitality, great food and service!“

“One of my favorite coffee shops in Portland. Baristas are always kind, and I enjoy the atmosphere especially on quiet mornings. “I first came across this cafe on Google Maps and was immediately drawn to its aesthetic and decor. When I visited in person, it definitely lived up to expectations. The space is very spacious, and I especially love that they open the doors during the summer, creating great airflow between the indoor and outdoor areas and making the whole cafe feel bright and inviting.
One thing that initially surprised me was the price of the latte. At $7, it’s noticeably more expensive than many other coffee shops, where a plain latte is often around $4–6. However, I later realized that alternative milks and additional syrups are included at no extra charge, which makes the pricing feel more reasonable if you like customizing your drinks.
The latte itself was quite good, and the overall atmosphere is really beautiful and relaxing. There are also a few conveniently located outlets, making it a solid place to work or study. The Wi-Fi was stable during my visit, and there was plenty of room to spread out with a laptop and other devices.
Around lunchtime, it can get a bit busier as people come in for food, but even then, it still feels like a comfortable and chill place to spend time. The spacious layout definitely helps prevent it from feeling overcrowded.
My only real criticism is that I wish the drink menu were a little more diverse. While the coffee was good, I’d love to see more variety and unique beverage options. Overall, though, it’s a beautiful, spacious cafe with a great atmosphere, reliable Wi-Fi, and a pleasant environment for both working and relaxing.“

“Randomly found this place and decided to stop in. They have recently moved and while looking confused was redirected to their new location less than a block down the road. What makes this place unique is that they have beer and wine available for sale too. There is also an outdoor patio and it looks like they may have music in the evenings. The barista was super friendly and while enjoying my horchata hot brew noticed numerous regulars and such a friendly vibe by all employees. Honestly the friendly and sincere service really makes this coffee shop stand out. Wouldn’t hesitate to stop in again soon.“

“Back in 2016, when it was still Dapper & Wise, I was a barista here, and it’s where I met my now fiancée for the first time. She walked in the day she was signing a lease just down the block.
This past November, I came back to what’s now Wallflower Coffee to propose to her. I reached out to Joel, the owner, just a few days beforehand, and even though we had never met, he was immediately on board. He opened the shop after hours, set up lights, created an amazing atmosphere, and even had champagne ready for us. He was even kind enough to coordinate with my old coworker (shout out to Maxine!) to take some terrific photos of the moment for us. He clearly cares about what this place means to people, and that shows in how he runs the shop; welcoming, thoughtful, and genuinely involved with the community.
On top of that, it’s just a great coffee shop. Really good coffee, a comfortable place to work or study, and an all-around good vibe. Cortado is always TOP-tier.
This place will always be special to us. Can’t recommend it enough. Thanks again, Joel.“

“Our whole family and extended family LOVE Great American Video & Espresso! Love to help support a local- family owned business like this one! I live close by so it’s always a go to for coffee, & ice cream. Be sure to try their frozen lemonade in the summer! So sour but so good!
Keep it up you guys! I’m sorry all the construction on King is probably impacting you! I know it has been detrimental for many other close by businesses! Hoping it’s all completed soon! 🍻“

“Good morning coffee place in the Pearl. Went to Tea Bar , but wasn’t open at 9:30am, even the girl was in the cafe and opened the door to tell me her cafe will be open for 10am, instead of serving me a latte. So I went to nearby Ovation. Great service with green tea latte. Plus they open everyday at 7am.“

“Best filter coffee I've had while in Portland! I was originally going to get a pour over, and the barista was very helpful in pointing me to the drip instead. It was their newest coffee they had and they felt it was the most delicious and even provided a sample to help convince me. The sample was so good I ended up taking their recommendation and going with the drip. My partner was originally going to get a vanilla latte, and the sample of the drip convinced her to completely change her mind and go with the drip coffee too.
So, I’d highly recommend asking them for their thoughts and recommendations before ordering. Even if you already think you know what you want, you might be surprised by what they have to say.
It was a hot 80 degree day, so we got a to go coffee slushy on our way out, which is delicious. I really recommend grabbing one of those, especially for a hot day. They have bags of their beans for sale. Outside, they have a couple of seats for a little bit of outdoor seating. As for the inside, not the most aesthetic it's pretty bare bones, which is fine for me. But if you really value aesthetics and that's important to you, just know that. Don't expect the most colorful, aesthetic, or high designed place. But if you care about high-quality, delicious, specialty coffee, then you should definitely stop by.“
