He was extremely welcoming and even gave us an extra fillet of rockfish as he didn’t believe the first to be big enough. Everything was amazing and seasoned to perfection from the fish to the collard greens to the beans/rice and Mac & cheese. It’s a fairly new place, only opening last summer so the menu still seems to be shifting, but I will definitely be back and highly suggest checking Norma Jean’s out yourself!! <3“

“Last month, I had the opportunity to visit Portland, Oregon. What an absolutely beautiful city! The landscapes, sunrises, sunsets and the numerous bridges were amazing. If you haven’t been. It’s a definite must see. But, the highlight of my visit was a small and friendly restaurant called Po’s Shines Café De La Soul. To my new friends at Po’ Shines, sorry for the delay in posting guys but I’ve been under the weather. This was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had at a restaurant. When I say they can cook. They can cook! I had the Po’ Fish Platter fried (you can also get it blackened) which included catfish fillets, chicken wings, 2 sides - I chose mac & cheese, mixed greens, and cornbread instead of hush puppies. My brother had ribs instead of fish but otherwise the same meal. Talk about delicious. They cook like somebody’s Mama on Sunday after church! LOL!!! All homemade!!! The service was great, the staff were extremely friendly and aimed to please. The portions were extremely generous and the price was more than fair. The food came out fresh and piping hot. If you’re ever in Portland, you do not want to miss this hidden gem. This will be my go to restaurant whenever I’m in the area. I give 5 stars to Po’ Shines!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“We were in town for a candlelit concert and came here for a quick dinner. We are from the Midwest and have struggled to find ‘Midwest/southern’ flavor. This place was delicious! The seasoning was perfect. Wasn’t greasy. Chicken was crispy. Fries were home made and cooked perfectly. Thank you!“

His sandwiches were delicious, the soups (we had tortilla soup and gumbo) were amazing, and the balsamic reduction for strawberries afterwards was a perfect addition.
