“First time here. Everything was delicious! But especially the downtown shrimp and grits. I can't wait to come back and try the uptown version. Our server was wonderful and the entire experience was *chef's kiss *! We live an hour and a half away, but I will make the special trip to come back. What a gem!“
“We made a reservation for our party of 4 for brunch and were seated on time. Our server was super friendly and nice. The restaurant was cute. But we would not return here. The breakfasts we ordered were all just ok. My sister had Migas Tart (vegetarian quiche) with potatoes as a side. I ordered random sides as there was no option for someone who is dairy free. My mom ordered mushroom and butternut scramble. The potatoes were over fried and my biscuit was over baked. Nothing special at all about any of the foods we ordered. We were excited to try it and were disappointed. Even if the ambience is good and the server was excellent, if the food isn’t good enough, we don’t return.“
“I loved every bite of the nacho buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. The food wasn’t greasy and the texture the Mac and cheese was amazing. Jose provided excellent customer service and made an amazing plate of food. I plan on stopping by more often and would recommend this place to anyone.“
“We have been searching for a restaurant that has food that tastes like home for 2.5 years after moving to Portland from Louisiana. Not only was the food absolutely fantastic, but the owner Andrea made us feel like family and was so friendly. We can’t wait to become regulars!“
“We LOVE this place! The oysters are fresh, the clams are flavorful and everything in between has been great! The staff is knowledgeable about where the oysters come from and what to expect on your flavor pallet. Service is quick and when they are busy, they set proper expectations. The space is rustic but really cool, especially walking off of a city street, it's definitely not what you expect!! We have gone as far as eating here twice in one day!“
“Stopped on the way home from work for southern comfort food. The chicken po boy is on point and very tasty, so much so that I wish I ordered two. Chicken is cooked to a golden crisp. If you are looking for authentic Louisiana cuisine, this is the best you will get. Matt & Memere’s is giving brick and mortar restaurants a run for their money. Great customer service and very friendly staff.“
“I mean...what can I say that hasn't already been said? Solid food, great service, and located in the Mississippi District! I have been slowly working my way through their menu and have not been disappointed yet. At this point, I doubt I will. Plus, they now serve Boiled Peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!“
“Just left the Salem Oregon location. It was so much better than what I was expecting. It’s not been open long so they’re still working out the kinks with servers and all that. But the bag o seafood was SPOT ON. It was all so good. I’m sure the longer it’s open the service kinks will be worked out. But it’s certainly very good food. Everything was delicious.“
“Went in today because I had been searching for a good spot that had a bomb boil and was not disappointed. Great customer service!! Very flavorful! We had the Dungeness Crab Boil and Lobster Mac and it hit the spot! We also had there strawberry lemonade and was given a Complimentary drink to try first. I Will definitely be coming back for more and recommend for anyone to try!! It’s really worth the try!“
“We had a great time meeting up with old friends at this prototypical portal of Portlandia!! Wonderful time eating and drinking, swapping lies and near truths in the best Nawlins traditions. We heartily recommend this joint!! We will be back!!“
“Outstanding food! The cook is wonderful and helpful about what is gluten free! The portion sizes are very large but you will not want your stop eating them!We were certain we wanted to come here after the ear piercing. So, we had called the night before and found out most of their food is gluten free except the gumbo. My husband is gluten free so I had the Trinity gumbo. He had the red beans and rice. Hands down some of the best we have had! I would recommend to anyone looking for Cajun in PDX. My husband was told about this spot from a coworker and we looked it up. We love Cajun food, so it was a must try. We would go back in a heartbeat. If you have a good allergy, call them and they know all of their ingredients/spices well to aide you. I can’t wait to go back!Dietary restrictions: Very well knowledgeable on the ingredients and allergies associated with their foods. Would recommend to anyone with allergy restrictions to call and ask. They are awesome and hope you can enjoy it!“
“I’ve only ever ordered the crab from here (because it’s my favorite thing!), but I love all the flavors I’ve tried! Garlic butter for the win - it’s delightful! They always package with care as well which I appreciate. Highly recommend if you enjoy boils.“
“I'm a few months late writing this review, so it looks like this particular location which was in a cluster of food carts has closed down since. There were some outdoors and indoors tables/benches there if you want to eat at the location.I ordered a gumbo regular with red beans, veg andouille (seemed to be made of baked beans), and Brandon's Nana Pudd'n (banana pudding). I was given an estimate of 5-10 minutes wait but it turned out to be closer to 30, but it seemed like one person was having to take orders and cook at the same time for most of the time before an additional worker showed up and there were some other people ordering around the same time as me since we were all on our lunch break from a conference.Unfortunately, while the food portion was generous for just $10, I found the gumbo to be too salty. I liked the vegetarian andouille, though; the texture actually did taste pretty meat-like, but I think the workers said it was made out of baked beans. The banana pudding was also a very generous portion, and I would recommend it if you have a sweet tooth and like whipped cream and nilla wafers.“
“Down and dirty deets: we spent about $90 per boil (2 boils) and each got: Dungeness, crawfish and shrimp. Added in potatoes, hard boils eggs, sausage, corn on cob and French baguette. Two apps: fried calamari and hush puppies, both recommended by our waitress who was awesome at being brutally honest with the menu so we knew what would give us the best turnout for our buck. All told, bill came to about $213 before tip.WOULD order again: Dungeness, shrimp, fried calamari and hush puppies. Also the potatoes, corn on cob and prob eggs. Bread was also great but would switch out for cornbread next time I think.Would NOT order again: crawfish and sausage. Crawfish was small without much meat even though tasty. Not really worth the effort of peeling. Sausage was delicious but I only got 3 pieces in the entire boil. I want mooooore.Want to try next time: fried oysters, cornbread and will get mussels with the boil. (They cut their calamari themselves and marinate it overnight, then bread it with their own breading to fry fresh. Keeps it tender and melt in your mouth. Seriously, don't sleep on it. I hate calamari and LOVED this. I can only imagine their oysters are similarly fussed over and I'm dying to try!)We scarfed down the hush puppies before I got a picture of them, but I'm adding some pictures of the boils and the calamari. We didn't get the soft shell crab because they're really on the small side and not worth the price when that small.1000% will go back and explore more of their menu :)“
“Everything was so good. My first time trying and I will be back! I’m a chef myself and I was very impressed! Good quantity. They even stayed open later just so I could pick up my order! If that’s not good customer service I don’t know what is ! I will for sure be back this is my new seafood spot!!!“
“We always go to this Screen Door when we are in Portland. The staff are always a delight and this trip was no exception. Davi was charming and friendly and attentive, and all the staff were working hard (always so busy!) There was a teeny, tiny glitch with our order taking a while (we weren't concerned but the staff were so distraught that their efficient system had gone awry, lol!) We appreciated their gesture of discounting our ticket, but didn't think it was necessary. We were having such a good time with Davi and all the staff that the time passed quickly. The food was fantastic (always get the praline bacon!), the people watching superb, and the service stellar. We will be back again (and again and again!)“
