“The Ambiance: High Desert Magic The menu at Wild Rye strikes a delicate balance between refined culinary technique and rustic, ranch-inspired comfort. The Prix Fixe Experience: I opted for the prix fixe menu, which featured meatballs and mashed potatoes. While that might sound like "comfort food 101," the execution was elevated to a fine-art level. The meatballs were incredibly tender, seasoned with a depth of savory herbs that suggested a very thoughtful preparation. Paired with potatoes that were velvety, buttery, and whipped to perfection, it was a dish that felt both nostalgic and remarkably sophisticated. The Beef Tenderloin ‘Oscar': My girlfriend's selection was the undisputed star of the table. This wasn't your run-of-the-mill Oscar style; it was a layered masterpiece. The Beef Tenderloin was butter-knife tender, topped with succulent Dungeness Crab. The complexity came from the supporting players: the salt-baked celery root provided an earthy, nutty foundation, while the truffled tomato condimento added a bright, umami-rich acidity. Finished with a rich hollandaise and a silky red wine jus, it was a masterclass in sauce work. Final Thoughts From the first bite to the last lingering glow of the sunset over the mountains, Wild Rye delivered. It's rare to find a venue that excels equally at "cozy fireside comfort" and "high-end gourmet complexity." Whether you're staying at the ranch or just driving out from Bend for a special night, this is a destination meal. We left feeling completely pampered and are already looking for an excuse to return.”

“We stopped here leaving Smith Rock after climbing all day. $5 a scoop offered in a cup or cone. Sugar cones are vegan. The flavor changes just not sure how frequently.”

“Really outstanding food. You’d never think this was an airport restaurant. Great service too. And today they opened early because the server saw 2 people standing outside about 10 minutes early.”
“4:30 am coffee. 1. Really great positive service. But also important is 2. The drip coffee is in fact acceptably good. It does not have the burnt, chemically, hollow taste of almost all other little airport shops.”

“The location was beautiful. Food in the restaurant was good. We were staying in a two room cabin. The only thing wrong with that. Was that the other room controlled the heat and our room was constantly cold.”
