“If I could give this place a million stars, I would. Hands down, this is not just my favorite sushi spot—it’s a culinary paradise. The King Kong Roll? An absolute masterpiece. I dream about it. But honestly, everything on the menu tastes like it was handcrafted by sushi gods. Every bite is a flavor explosion that’ll ruin all other sushi for you—forever.
From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warm, upbeat music and an atmosphere that's bursting with personality. There are so many quirky, fun things to look at, you almost forget you’re here for food—until the food hits the table and steals the show.
And the customer service? Impeccable. I’ve been coming here religiously since I moved in 2024, and every single visit has been perfect. The owner is always smiling, always welcoming, and it genuinely feels like you're part of something special when you walk in. You’re not just eating sushi—you’re supporting someone who puts their heart into every single roll.
Do yourself a favor—don’t walk, RUN to this place.“

“This is the kind of place that I don't really want to rate that high because I want to keep it to myself. but they need ratings so that they can keep their doors open. so that I can enjoy this food for a long time to come. which is the best. and boba tea is Two Doors. it's an all-in-one white girls dream“

“Honestly, most of the food is ok-good. Love the Takyaki ice cream. The experience is what's worth going for. Dropping in the plates you finish and getting gacha balls is fun. It's nice with it being small plates, you can try different things. It's pricey for what you get/quality, so definitely only a once in a while place.“

“We got back from Japan a week ago and were missing the amazing food. Thankfully, my husband found Yukiyama. Wow! It was super authentic and we loved it. We ordered way too much food not thinking the portions would be Americanized. No matter. I'm happy to have leftovers for lunch this week. We loved the gyoza (dumplings). They were so soft, delicate and flavorful. They didn't need the sauce but the sauce was terrific. The pictures of their sushi looked good so I wanted to try it. The tuna roll was delicious and only $6. My husband loved his chashu (pork that tastes just like bacon) ramen. There were tons of noodles, huge pieces of pork and mushrooms. He really enjoyed it and was in the mood for ramen since we loved it so much in Japan. I got the chicken katsu (basically a cut up fried chicken cutlet or breast). It was so crispy, tender and flavorful. The portion was giant. It came with white rice, miso soup and the sweet and delicious katsu sauce that I love. We wi definitely be back to try other things when we come back out to Squirrel Hill. The man who brought out the food was so sweet. We miss Japan and found an amazing new spot.“

“Extensive seafood menu & fresh fish sold. Soup & chowder. We had the crab cake sandwich, it was not good. $23. Fishy. It could be much better. Not sure what type of crab is used, fairly certain it was not lump crab meat? We will try a different seafood entree or sandwich on our next visit & hope for better.“

“We have had sushi here several time. It’s definitely better than you’d expect for mall sushi. Got a teriyaki bowl today and chicken was a hit dry and the carrots were not peeled and possibly not washed. I picked them all out because they tasted awful. The bowl was a large portion and the other veggies were good though. Maybe a stick to the sushi.“

“Mount Everest Sushi serves Japanese appetizers, sashimi, sushi rolls, poke bowls, don-buri, canned beverages, and more. For lunch, two employees served me very well. Some tables and chairs were upstairs. I ate the Salmon Poke and a plum soda and liked them.“

“This place is fantastic!I used to work in SHV, and I would have killed for a sushi joint like this back in those days. Based on the prices and location, I would have never expected such a high quality meal with such a pleasant staff experience. I believe the gentleman who assisted me was named Bawi (I could have misheard). He could not have been more kind and gracious. I was there at the end of the night after a fairly slow weekday for them, and he was telling me how they make all of their Sushi fresh --every single day. Since they would not be carrying any of their pre-prepared rolls into the next day, he sent me home with a few samples of some rolls to try something new and share w/ my family. We loved everything!I highly recommend giving them a chance the next time you find yourself in or around the food court!“

“Came here on a tuesday afternoon and it was practically empty. Got the all you can eat and definitely got my money's worth! Friendly, attentive staff, delicious food and didn't feel rushed out! The yellowtail with jalapeno appetizer was my favorite, I recommended it if you don't mind a little bit of heat.“

Ginger salad, green tea salad, sushi, and beef curry are all great. But we keep coming back to chicken noodle soup with coconut milk (Ohn-no Kauk Swe - SP2)!“

“I recently ate at Kiku and the sushi was the best I have ever eaten. The sushi was fresh and delicious, as it has been every time I have eaten there. It is definitely the best sushi in the area. You can taste the true flavor of the fish without sauces or spices. At Kiku you will enjoy an authentic sushi experience that won't disappoint.“

“🌟 A Sushi Delight in Downtown Pittsburgh! 🌟 If you’re a sushi lover, you absolutely must try the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille. This incredible roll is a symphony of textures and flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Imagine biting into a perfectly crispy USDA soft shell crab, complemented by the fresh crunch of asparagus and cucumber, the creamy richness of avocado, and the delightful pop of masago. This roll is huge and too big for our chopstick skills, so we used our fingers! Each piece is generously topped with a luscious combination of eel sauce, spicy sauce, and a sprinkle of scallions, adding a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy notes. For just $19, you get 10 pieces of this culinary masterpiece, making it not only a delicious treat but also a fantastic value. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just looking to try something new, the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s is a must-try experience in the heart of Pittsburgh. 🍣✨“

“Beautiful spot with great vibes. Absolutely loved the ramen on a chilly day. Fun variety of both food and drinks. We were there on a Friday night when there was a DJ set up. Was impressed that they were able to have the DJ in small space without in infringing on ability to hear date - but it worked!“

“We dined at Nor Fish nor Fowl and had a substandard meal. Golden Gai is with the same group and we were hesitant to go after our esperience with the previous restaurant. We sat at the counter. The culinary staff were very friendly and engaging answering various questions about the menu. Chris, our server, was very knowledgeable about the food and beverage selections and the flow of service was very smooth. All in all a very pleasant dining experience and we wouldn't hesitate to return when back in Pittsburgh.“

“Taipei is by far the best sushi and Chinese restaurant in the Fox Chapel area. The servers are courteous and the specialty sushi rolls are noticeabley larger and tastier than Jimmy Wan's. In my opinion, Taipei also offers a better selection than Jimmy Wan's. We also appreciate Taipei's complimentary fried wontons served before each meal and orange slices provided at the end of service. This family-friendly restaurant always make us feel at home.“

“Little Tokyo Restaurant is in Mt. Lebanon near Pittsburgh, PA. LTR has hibachi, udon and Ramen bowls, sushi and other options. The food was great as was the service. We had steak and shrimp hibachi, yummy roll (shrimp tempura inside with crab), udon bowl and a spicy tuna hand roll. The only complaint is how loud it was inside. At times it was difficult to hear the conversation at our own table. I would return if I'm in the area again.“

“We ate here on Christmas Day and the staff was so courteous. My son mentioned that he is vegetarian and the chef made his food before any meat touched the griddle. It was such a small thing and we didn’t ask for this—they just did it. What a lovely touch that put my son at ease. Will come back for sure!“

“I have been going to Azon Wok for years and they used to be excellent. Now the last few times I ordered from them, it's not very good. My General Tso's chicken has been terrible. The TV dinners in the store were better. The breading on the chicken was soggy instead of crispy, the chicken meat was tough and dry. The sauce was just orange duck sauce with barley any seasoning to it, no peppers whatsoever in it, no flavor bursting in your mouth like it used to. Seems as if someone doesn't know how to cook the chicken or season it. You get chicken like that from putting it in too low a temperature of oil for a longer time to fry. My chicken fried rice had no egg in it all and hardly any chicken. What happened Azon Wok?“

“Lived around the corner for years. Zen is awesome, don’t let the looks deceive you. Dinner or lunch bento box is a great deal, and the sushi is shockingly good. Inside/atmosphere is basically pick up your order and bounce as opposed to a sit down dinner spot but imo this is more of a takeout spot anyways. Definitely recommend.“

“We are frequent customers at Ichiban. The food is always great, especially for the price. However, the ventilation has become really bad recently, leaving the entire restaurant smoky.
Service is usually great, aside from Kenny. Multiple times now, we’ve had him and he has been nothing but rude. He seems annoyed with any question or request, never says “thank you” or “you’re welcome.” He tries to shove you out the door, asking if you want boxes when you’ve just begun eating. I have worked in the service industry for years and often give 50% tips where they’re deserved. I don’t even give him 20%. Someone should address how incredibly rude he is to customers.
Aside from the smoke and Kenny, I’d recommend Ichiban to anyone. We will continue to come back; I think we may start requesting a server, though.“
