“We finally ordered!!!! Not sure what took us so long! This cafe is such a gem! The atmosphere is so cozy and so cute! Was greeted by such a sweet girl! You really get a feeling of home away from home here. We ordered scrambled egg bowls with sausage and bacon, cheese and on a bed of tater tots. Wow! Absolutely to die for!!! I am such a picky food snob. This place out ranks any diner! You guys rock!“

“My sweetheart and I went here on our second date. The original plan was to meet at Dead King Bread in Manyunk, and then hike in the Wissahickon. Dead King was closed, however, and my sweetheart quickly suggested Roma Cafe as an alternative. I'm ashamed to say that I never knew about this bakery. When I think of Italian bakeries, I typically think of South Philly. This is the real deal. An interior that harkens back to earlier times, and probably owners that harken back to an earlier time!

It was here that I discovered that my sweetheart is extravagant with treats, especially sweets. As a bit of a minimalst, I chose a rather bland biscuit. He chose an array of half a dozen treats, including canolies.

When we eventually made our way to the Wissahickon, we discovered that we had each packed more treats for the hike - cheese, grapes. He brought the most wonderful brie from Trader Joes that was as soft and gooey as if you had baked it in the oven. I noted with approval that he was equipped with a good picnic bag, as was I.

As we walked through the Wissahickon, I was captivated by his friendliness to everyone we passed on the trails, including the dogs.

“I go there to buy the tomato pie. I never buy less than two boxes which is a quarter pie each with nine slices sprinkled with cheese. I never thought to take a picture. Maybe I will next time and I’ll update this. They make the most amazing tomato pie! I did purchase a piece of baklava from them yesterday. This took away her ability to enjoy some of her favorite foods. We tried to find substitutes at the local grocery stores but nothing really took the place of her favorite baked goods. “Ursa bread is fantastic. Since the pandemic when we were incredibly lucky to have this bread delivered to our door to now it has been consistently wonderful bread baked with love. I go to the farmers markets specifically for this bread. Philadelphia has a number of great new small bakeries but Ursa is at the top!“

Stopped by today and got the cheesesteak with sauce and onions, and the buffalo chicken cheesesteak just to try it out. It was absolutely delicious! We have one more day in Philadelphia and will be going by first thing tomorrow morning for a couple more before we leave. If you have not tried them out, you need to make it a priority. So so good!“

The service was excellent and the food was very good. I ordered the broccoli quiche with turkey bacon on the side.
