“Our group tried to make reservations for March 16, 2024. This business was called and a female answered and stated the Manager would call back, he never did. She called back and the male manager answered and stated that he called her back two days prior. She only called the day before. Then he said he called he back the day she called and she told him that he did not. So a lieing manager. We we had 15 people interested in coming to your establishment, I would think it would have been a couple hundred dollars, but you refused us. YOUR LOSS. Hopefully anyone from our group will never patronize your business. It would have been my first time since we are driving to meet the others that are from Duncansville/Altoona area. I would give you a ZERO review. The business down the street was more than happy to accommodate us with open arms. YOUR LOSS!“

“Most of the food was good. I would prefer the key lime pie and cheesecake to be cold, but the selection of desserts was good. The pulled pork was very flavorful and tender. I could have eaten an entire plate of the corn muffins! The catfiah was kinda soggy and barely warm. There is definitely something for everyone! I took my daughter, and it cost a little under $24 for both of us. We did not buy a beverage. Honestly, it's not a bad price!“

“Don’t be fooled by the ugly exterior. Corner bar vibe with pro level cocktails. Bartender is a mixologist not a beer slinger. A glass of room temperature water accompanies all cocktails. You find that in five star restaurants in Manhattan. Cool place.“

“I have heard about this place for a long time. I dont live in Altoona and dont go there much but I was in the area and decided to finallt try it. Ive been missing out. Usually I head into State College when looking for a place to have dinner or lunch but for Mex and Tex Mex Ill be heading into Altoona for now on.“

“I had the cheesesteak pretzel melt from Mamies Too outside of Lowes. the best cheesesteak in town that I've had! it was so big I had to finish it with a fork, maybe big enough for 2 people. highly recommend it!“

“Service was ok. They only had one person working the counter and kitchen but he took care of us really well. The Italian subs and stromboli were dynamite. Simply prepared but the flavors were great.

Kid-friendliness: Brought the family in for a nice Sunday afternoon lunch. Place was nice and very clean.“

“When we arrived tye parking lot looked full and we were expecting a long wait to be able to get a table, but we were very quickly seated with no more than maybe a 5 minute wait. The food came quick and was cooked perfectly, even the kids who are overly picky about food loved everything. The cactus blossom was a perfect appetizer, and the rib eyes were tender and juicy with a nice buttery flavor, we will definitely be returning here.“

“We were there for Brunch 10/16/22. They just reopened under new ownership/management. Mayfield is a fantastic match for this establishment. Can’t wait to see what happens with the Capital Hotel upstairs. The bartenders were awesome. The Food was Great. I highly recommend you stop in and see what they have done with the place. What they did to the Piperoom is fantastic! All I can say is Congratulations Maddie and your team, you really gave it a face lift and added your touch to the place. All Fantastic!! BRAVO!!“

Upscale restaurant for those willing to spend or having a special occasion that you want to celebrate. Remind me of Stevens Steak and Seafood House Restaurant where I used to go to the monthly International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials meeting there.“

“Fantastic find, not planned. Great little, very old pub with really good food & vibe. Best of all, it still has a "spitton trough" at the base of the bar. Common in late 1800s, this is one of five still existent in the US. It's the only one with still functioning water flow, which the bartender demo'd.“

“First time there yesterday for lunch. We sat at the bar and ordered the NY hot (hot garlic) wings, steak salad and fish sandwich. EVERYTHING was great! The steak on the salad was crazy good, alongside the "merva" dressing (balsamic). Very attentive, friendly bartender. Place overall was very cool. Our only complaint is shame on us for just discovering this place!“

“Probably the best priced and quality wings ive gotten in town. I got delivery and they delivered exactly on time. The food was delivered HOT which most pizza places miss the mark on. The pizza is good and also well priced for the area. That said I've had better pizza from a chain restaurant. But being local and all the pluses I mentioned already they're very a solid choice, I definitely recommend.“

“The server was very attentive and thoughtful and not pushy. The half chicken was tasty but a little on the dry side also if you don’t care for a sweet bbq sauce have it on the side instead of on the meat. The sweet potato and coleslaw was great although I felt the size of the slaw could have been a little bit larger. Overall I’d eat here again because you can’t base the decision on only one and very first time eating here.“

“Brad deserves a raise! He was such a great server, drinks always full, plates always cleared, food was great but Brad really made it an enjoyable experience. He was so sweet to my elderly grandma always making sure she had what she needed and even boxed up her food for her which was absolutely above and beyond. Request to be sat with Brad on your next visit because he will make sure you’re taken care of!“
