“I am trying some new to me places in Philly and I came across this place. The Uptown Grill. The food was delicious, I ordered fish & grits, a small coffee, and white toast. The restaurant was very nice and clean, and the atmosphere was layed back, chill, But one thing that took me little by surprise and that is the (Asian lady) behind the counter taking orders. she wasn't really nasty, but she was impatient, short tempered and not very friendly or/ communicative and I felt that. I am visiting the city from new Orleans, so I'm paying close attention to everything and that little experience left a little bad taste in my mouth. Everything else was perfect, but I wouldn't return.“

“Recently, was looking for a breakfast spot with grits. The grits were creamy and delicious even after sitting awaiting for me to pick up my food. My main dish was chicken and waffles. Lee's Belgian waffle came with a side of powdered sugar to sprinkle atop your buttered and syrup covered waffles. I savored every sweet, semi- cake bite.“

“I read all the positive reviews and had to check it out for myself. I have always found it difficult to find something as simple as a good breakfast place. But this time i found it! The second I walked in, I was impressed. The hostess greeted me immediately and with a smile. I asked if I should order now and she smiled and explained that she'd take my order and she'll bring it to me. It was very pleasant. The store itself is clean and bright. I ordered two eggs medium, sausage patties,home fries with peppers and onions, rye toast with a little butter and a medium coffee. Everything was made exactly as I ordered it. The portions were generous and the coffee was great. Thirteen bucks for all that. Perfect. I'll be back.“

“I have lived in Havertown my whole life, and I had never been here before. I’m so glad I finally gave it a try. I tend to get the chicken salad when I eat out, and I would rate their chicken salad sandwich a 9+ out of 10! Great flavor and consistency plus the sandwich was packed and overflowing, without being messy. I had to take half home with me. One of the best I’ve ever had! The service was very good, the interior was clean and bright, and prices were on par with most other places. I will definitely be going here again instead of Nudy’s to try some of their other lunch and breakfast items.“

“l've been coming to Bread and Butter since they first opened, and they've been consistently amazing ever since. My entire family eats here, and the atmosphere is so warm and family oriented that it feels like walking into a family reunion every time you visit. The food is ALWAYS incredible fresh, flavorful, and made with care. I come here so often that they already know my order before I even say it!
That kind of service and consistency is hard to find.
Definitely one of my favorite spots in Uptown Philadelphia.“

“I go here early morning every morning . Between 6am-8:30am for at least a coffee if nothing else . I’ve ordered breakfast and lunch from them. The food is always good. The handmade drinks are fresh. The service is fast and considerate . Never any cursing or rude temple students ruining the atmosphere . It’s really a pleasurable experience . “Had breakfast here today while in town for a show at the Met. Rashida greeted us upon entry and was very friendly. We both enjoyed our meals. Food was cooked right and was delicious and generous. I had eggs with home fries, sliced thin and crisped perfectly. I had turkey scrapple and it was cooked crispy , just as i requested. Neither of us could finish our meals but we sure wanted to! “This was the first restaurant my Grandmother took me to when I came to Philly when I was 8 I am going to be 44 in 2 months. Loyal customer for 36 years. They fed my family for 3 generations. It's not the same owners I started out with but the quality of food never changed and these owners owned it for decades. If you can ignore what's going on outside it's a great stop. The neighborhood changed the restaurant did not.“

“I love this place. I teach at Temple, so when I'm in the area I stop in. They're closed on Mondays, so be mindful. The food is always consistent, good, hot, fresh and I usually call ahead because they're often times busy. But, the food is on point!!!“

“The food is tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. For a little over $8, I got a platter of scrambled eggs, pork bacon, and cheese grits. Toast comes with it - they have both white and wheat bread - If it was extra, it was only by a dollar or so.
They used to have multiple tables that you could sit and eat at, but not anymore. The back of the restaurant looks like they're renovating, so those tables are not there. That is the only reason I didn't give the atmosphere 5 stars. However, there is one long table up front. There are no chairs, but on it are the various condiments: ketchup, maple syrup, salt and pepper, hot sauce, etc. My fiancé and I didn't want to eat on the train we were waiting to catch, so we ate at that same long table. Standing up and eating was the better option than trying to eat on a fast-moving train and/or bus.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating.“
