“***Philadelphia Steaks as alternative*** Jackson is good, but don't always answer and get backed up. BUT, this happened to me today and it lead me to the Philadelphia Steaks Hoagies along Walnut street, which is about one mile from Jackson House. So next time you want Jackson and they're too busy, definitely check out the Steaks place. Similar vibes/feels, but not pushy or "Philly rude". I hear this place also gets backed up, and it was recommended to order when they first open. I called about 10 mins before open to pick up the order. They also asked for the pick-up time, (rather than telling me the "20 minutes"), which I appreciate. I got a small cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions - it was a nice full sub size with excellent roll.“

“3.5 Small town diner smashed into the side of what would otherwise be a residence. As a result the dining room is somewhat low-ceilinged and claustrophobic. “We loved our experience at The Melting Pot Harrisburg! I noted that it was a celebration dinner for our friend's graduation, and the waitress made it so special by bringing out dessert and writing “congrats class of 2024” on the plate with pastries and candles in them. It was such a sweet experience overall. The food was amazing, every person who has ever served us has been so friendly, and it's a nice quiet restaurant too which I love!“

“A long time favorite for many locals for a very long time! Great, FRESHLY baked (on site) soft pretzels. In addition to the "standard" pretzel shape, Smittie's offers large pretzel "sticks" and bite-sized as well. (Also miscellaneous items like soda/ non alcoholic drinks).The location is a renovated, roadside type stand, (look for the white "lighthouse" on top) and has very friendly staff. Smittie's is well worth the time to stop in and enjoy a local, traditional treat.Smittie's is in the northern, rolling hills of York County, PA. The road (PA Route 74, just north of Dover, PA) is often used by area residents in the Autumn for good fall foliage viewing. The nearby Gifford Pinchot State Park is worth visiting for pretty views any time of year!NOTE: Parking is a bit tricky at times (just depends on random timing, space for a few cars) and is just off a well paved roadway (PA Route 74), northbound side. Complained to waitress who said it had to be that way so they could hear in the back for take out orders. The restaurant was far from busy for in house dining so I guess the owner doesn't care about us; only the take out customers! I have eaten here for years and tried to support them during covid but never again.“

Something different that made this place stand out, when they bring you the check it's in a little notebook and you can weite a nice message about your experience. Nice touch. “We were looking online for a good restaurant to have lunch in Hummelstown before taking our tour of Indian Echo Cavern. We came across the Chatterbox which had overwhelmingly positive reviews so we decided to try it. We weren't disappointed. My wife and I both had potato soup and the chicken salad sandwich. The potato soup was served piping hot with a perfectly seasoned light broth that was chock full of chunks of potato. The chicken salad sandwich was served on a croissant and was literally bursting with a generous portion of chicken salad topped with slices of beautifully ripe tomatoes and lettuce. Everything was made with the freshest ingredients by Roxy, and the desserts were also home made by her husband. Both were delightful hosts as well, spending time giving us a tour of their unique interior (if you love collectible antiques and old adverting, this is a mecca for both) and relating their colorful family history. This is a delightful place to have a delicious lunch in a warm, quaint atmosphere. Highly recommend!“

The food is always unique, the draft beer selection is second to none in this town (have to go to Lancaster city or Harrisburg to compete with this). Music selection is good, servers are chill...
