“My family and I had an incredible dining experience tonight at Umai. We had a special, Kinmedai aka Golden Eye Snapper that was so fresh and tasty, out of this world good! We also had a treat with broiled tuna cheek that was also outstanding. Otoro was so velvety and rich, spicy hotate, sweet ebi, unagi, fried crabs, incredible sushi rolls, savory Akadashi (my son ordered a second it was so good) and everything else we ordered tonight was just incredible. Thanks so much to Rae and his wonderful staff for one of the best meals I've ever had - the best sushi in this area for sure and such friendly excellent service to accompany it! 🙂 Thanks for such wonderful hospitality and all the extra goodies Rae. “Had lunch there yesterday. The pork gyoza were delicious and so were the three rolls we ordered. The AAA roll is one of my Ooka favorites. Food arrives quickly and the wait staff are so friendly and polite.“

“I got a DoorDash order from here today. It was truly some of the best miso soup I’ve ever had. The special role that I ordered was wrapped with cucumber and although impossible to eat in a one bite, the fish was very fresh and the taste overall was excellent. I also had gyoza which were very good.“

The food is excellent, sushi is superb with super fresh fish, portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the service is outstanding (ask for Chloe, she'll take good care of you). Don't be fooled if you find the place with only a few patrons. It's a hidden gem. The restaurant may not be elegant but you won’t be disappointed with the food quality, pricing, service, and cleanliness of the place. Never a wait either. Highly recommended!“

“Edit - Within less than an hour of posting my review, I received a prompt call from the restaurant to apologize explaining they saw my review and looked into what could’ve happened. They had found there was a crack in one of their lids and have fixed the issue. I am very happy with how quickly they looked into this and reached out. As such, I’m editing my review and can say this was likely just an accident and not indicative of the overall quality of the restaurant.Been coming here for years and the food is generally good. That said, we found a shard of hard glass or plastic in our food (spicy tuna roll) which my wife bit down on. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be coming back. Giving two stars just based on the previous good experiences…“
