“We came here for dinner on a somewhat quiet Saturday evening. Luck was on our side as they had no problem getting us a table for four and we were sat quickly. Service was friendly and the menu was surprisingly deep. Overall, the food did not disappoint.We started with the French Onion soup - it is on point and if you like French Onion, I recommend it. I went with the meatloaf sandwich. It was good, but the BBQ sauce was a bit sweet for my liking. Still a creative and enjoyable sandwich. We also got a poke bowl, which was very fresh. I'd recommend getting the dressing on the side as that could overpower some of the aspects of the bowl, but no other modifications needed.I've heard this place can get busy and is a bit of a dive bar. Given its location, I am sure it can get busy so I would plan ahead if you want to eat. As for dive bar, not sure I'd call it that but if I did it would more bit a complement. I say give Berwyn Tavern a go if you are in the area.“

“I love this bar! I'm from nyc and was visiting family that goes to this bar on a daily basis. This was in 2007. George was a cool dude and always showed me respect. “So, my dad/hero (RIP) and I used to predominantly haunt Becco’s … and Maloney&Porcelli’s + Cité in Hell’s Kitchen. (RIP the last two restaurants ? as well.) Spoto’s in 33418 and Barrio Star in San Diego … this seems like the oddest review. But my point is that I haven’t felt compelled to write anything until I had two whiskey sours and a cheesesteak at the Square Bar, today. In fact, I haven’t gone to many restaurants/bars at all since my dad passed in 2020. To come into such an awesome environment with banging food and encounter two awesome employees; (didn’t catch the name of the killer cheesteak maker-queen) and Gretchen. The drinks—environment—food—and two ladies working there, helped me to feel comfortable, like I wanted to stay, and forget any sads for the time being. “I'm so pleased to see that this intimate venue seems to be making a go of it in downtown West Chester. Formerly a National Guard armory, a few years ago the 1916 building was converted to a 327-seat theater with accompanying bar/lounge and meeting space. It hosts all manner of arts productions, from live music, dance, and theater to comedy and movie screenings. There's not a bad seat in the house, and the acoustics are good. Last night we enjoyed a concert by Jeffrey Gaines, one of the better-known performers to visit this venue. Great show. What's more, you can buy a drink at the bar and take it to your seat; the theater space is clean and comfortable as standard theater seats go; and the restrooms are ample in number and spotlessly clean. Come support the arts in West Chester!“

“The food was very good and the restaurant was very lively. It's much more of a family oriented restaurant than I realized. I would go back with kids but probably not just with adults. It was very loud so not ideal for quiet conversation. But if you're looking for a lively family friendly restaurant, this would be a great option!“

I normally don't trust bartenders to make me an old fashioned but Salem has it down to perfection. All spirits are made on site and you can buy by the bottle as well. The flat bread was ok but tasted frozen from a box and the chicken tacos weren’t good and served cold. Service could have been better but I guess the way in my experience to get good service here is to sit at the bar. Over all we had some good food and drink. “You dont come to Joes for atmosphere and they dont serve food. But drinks are cheap, TV screens are plentiful, the crowd is happy ranging to rowdy on late weekend nights, and the pizza/salad place next door is good. I buy a salad (try the Mediteranean -has good chicken) and sometimes a slice, and it’s a great place to catch the Phils or Birds. Thumbs up! Nice staff.“

“Wonderful service! My wife and I cane here for our anniversary, and the food was excellent! I loved their mussels marinara! Our server, Will, was very attentive to our needs and went out of his way to make sure our dining experience was ideal. Our table was a bit wobbly, which he noticed, so he came back with something to put under the table leg to stop the wobbling without us asking. Atmosphere is what you'd expect at an Italian family restaurant: loud from conversation among patrons of larger table sizes. Some may not like this experience while dining, but for me, it brought me back to Sunday dinners at my grandparents' in Philly! Many staff members make it a point to chat with you to make you feel right at home! Parking can be a bit tight, but not too terrible as long as you take your time getting out. It's not pretentious enough to be a gastropub, but it's a more upscale menu/experience. The service is still terrific and the prices are in line with the quality. “This place is a bar with a boarding house attached. I don't have anything to do with the boarding house. The bar is fun. Servers are great. Prices are reasonable. And patrons are friendly. It has 4 Tv's but the jukebox is on most of the time. You hear a variety of music. I am updating that new people are running the kitchen. It is an amazing Mexican menu. And you get a lot of fresh made food for reasonable prices. You really should come try it. Delicious.“
