“Last Saturday, January 31st, I was invited to a cake decorating party/course at Pound Cake Heaven. Ms. Pam and Ms. Tony were such gracious hosts, introducing us to the shop, the history of this amazing Black woman-owned company, and recent projects like for the US Navy's 250th Anniversary cake! Melanie expertly taught our group of amateur and semi-professional cake bakers how to decorate a 2 layered cake. The butter cream smelled and tasted delicious and so did the cake overall! I would definitely recommend the course and bake goods! Thank you all so much for such an enjoyable time!”

“Im Ghanaian and was confused when I seen Nigerian rice but still ordered waakye, goat , and stew fried fish. It was really good & im picky. Very fresh compared to others I’ve tried in Philly. & you know as Africans we hate ordering others food but it was really good, & spicy enough. Beef pie was okay but everything else was great.”

“Aunty K’s fried rice and mackerel were really good! You can taste the pepper and it was a lot of food. To my pleasant surprise it came with fried sweet plantains and a very spicy pepper sauce (use with caution). The lady at the counter was polite and i waited and watched their tv as they prepared my food.”

“The Love. was simply incredible! We came here with our 6 year old son. Our waiter was fabulous and very accommodating to our 6 year old which you don’t always find in Rittenhouse. The atmosphere was light and airy and the food was great! Make sure to try their Dubai Chocolate Sundae and if you’re going with children they do have special kids cups and will accommodate the menu for them.”

“It was an unforgettable dinner. The moment I stepped inside, I felt as if I had been invited to a close friend’s or family member’s home for a warm, intimate meal. The space is small, cozy, and wonderfully personal. The two chefs prepared and served each course with perfect timing, offering fresh, beautifully crafted dishes one after another without a single moment of dullness.

It was a joy not only to taste the food but also to watch the careful, thoughtful preparation behind every plate. The flavors were excellent, the progression of courses felt seamless, and I left with that perfect feeling of satisfied fullness.

There is no doubt that this restaurant fully deserves its Michelin one-star rating. A truly memorable dining experience.

The only thing I found disappointing was that, although I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary when making the reservation, nothing was acknowledged at all. The staff’s prepared guests’ birthday cakes, special party hats, cards and even a moment where the lights were turned off so everyone in the room could celebrate together. In contrast, our table didn’t receive even a simple mention of our anniversary.”

“We had the perfect cozy, comforting meal on a frigid winter night! The servers were attentive and took the time to answer questions and led us to pick the best menu items. The drink selections were excellent and I was happy to have a number of non-alc choices. We started with the layered lasagna and the “not Caesar” salad, both unique and delicious. The star of the meal was the gnocchi with local mushrooms. It was incredibly savory with so much flavor and the right amount of crunch. We will absolutely be returning to see what’s next on the menu rotation!”

“Not kidding. Our table of 4 ordered nearly everything in the menu. Each bite was delicious, balanced, nuanced, worldly, fresh, and inventive. We ordered a second dish of the carrots, and also the cukes. Dessert was outstanding. Interesting wines, including a chilled Croatian wine that paired well with every dish. Definitely returning. The mussels are perfection, I could eat those everyday. The cavatelli - superb! Honesty, it was all amazing. The staff is so warm, welcoming and personable too. We can’t wait to go back!”

“We ate here for the first time and I think this is the best place I’ve ever eaten. The staff was super friendly, they were very accommodating to my gluten allergy, and the food portions were huge. I really enjoyed everything. I wish they would open a restaurant on the Florida Panhandle or honestly anywhere within 8 hours drive of us.”

“In all fairness, it’s been years since I’ve been there however, when I did go with my wife it was an awesome experience. I had my most favorite drink that I have ever experienced there. It was a vanilla-raisin old fashioned. I enjoyed it so much I have re-created it to the best of my ability many times over. You will love this place!”
