“I was excited to go to Joe Beef with my son, since we both had been hearing great things about the place for years. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted by several of the staff as we walked through the restaurant to our bar seat. I always try to sit at the bar since you can chat with the staff, as they cook or prepare drinks. The service was outgoing and helpful, and the atmosphere was charming and cozy. We started with the escargot, which were great, but the butternut squash soup was absolutely spectacular, and by far the best thing of the entire meal. After that, we had the duck, and the lobster pasta, which came highly recommended. The duck dish was succulent, apparently “free range” which gave it a bit of a gamey taste, and it came with a gorgeous savoury sauce which included delicious duck hearts. Unfortunately, the lobster claw, (still in its shell), that came with the pasta was a little off, not exactly fresh, but the other parts of the lobster were great. We finished off with the “Profiteroles Poire & Chocolat”, an ice cream, pear, cookie and chocolate dessert. As I understand it, the ice cream was homemade which helped make it a wonderful dessert. All in all, we had a great time, but I have to say that the food was good, but not the kind of “blow your mind amazing” that I hope for from a high-end restaurant.“

We had the Arctic Char for 2 with a side of Gnocchi and Caesar salad the fusion of flavour in the sauce on the Char was heavenly. The fish was done to perfection!! The Gnocchi was unlike any we had ever had and the herb oil drizzle highlighted the perfect texture and flavour of the gnocchi. The deconstructed Caesar was perfect!! “Been to quite a few steak houses in Montreal. With marketing, very difficult to tell the tourist trap from great food till it’s over. The Keg, has never let me down. Service is always 100%. Even with a full front of house, the kitchen has your food out in a VERY reasonable time. Fresh baked bread, great drinks, awesome prime rib, the wedge salad is perfect. Every bite shows the same temp, no black but raw in the middle. It’s shows the streak was cooked low and slow, you can’t fake that, it’s not possible. It also shows they care.“

“It's our 1st time here, we came to celebrate our 36yr wedding anniversary, we definitely came to the right place. The mixed seafood platter was to die for! It was so fresh and flavourful we were amazed how well the seabass, octopus, giant shrimp and cod were cooked to perfection and served with a smile to make sure we had properly transferred the food from plater to dish. This one was a bit too easy to find but it made enjoying the delightful cocktails even easier. Thomas was a gracious host and Leo behind the bar a true mixology craftsman.

I enjoyed the house negroni and based on that, followed it up with Leo’s choice. He picked the Side Car for me. Direct hit! Way to go Leo!!

Good spot for cocktails after work. Shared plates look delicious but I was solo and the plates would have been better shared so I skipped out for an excuse to come back.

The Prix Fixe looks reasonable too. Come with a large party and share family style after work or before a night on the town.“

“The 4.8 rating is well deserved. I loved the oxtail and curry goat ... Good portions and perfectly seasoned for my tastes. The meat was well trimmed leaving a little bit but not too much fat. The chef skimmed off the melted fat from the gravy leaving just a little. You get a separate big plate of rice and two slices of sweet plantain and a small coleslaw with each main dish.

The "dining area" looks like it's set up to be a juice bar with stools. I guess you could eat at the bar counter but i would only take out or have food delivered.“

“Service was à bit slow and i had the fried chicken sandwich too much coleslaw no smoked jalapenos spread like it s mentioned on the menu . 2 small pieces of chicken ( chicken fingers ) lots of fries but 22$ not satisfying type of meal.
