“From the moment I walked through the door, I understood why Joe Beef is considered one of Montreal's culinary icons. The ambiance is warm, quaint, charming, and intimate, the kind of place that immediately makes you feel as though you're about to experience something truly special.

The service was exceptional. Every member of the team was attentive, genuinely enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable. As each dish arrived, every ingredient, preparation, and flavour combination was thoughtfully explained, adding another layer to the experience.

I shared with my server that I had come on the recommendation of a CWC, French-trained chef, who insisted that if I was visiting Montreal, Joe Beef was an absolute must. I told him I wasn't simply looking for dinner, I was there for a culinary experience. When he offered to curate my meal, I happily placed myself in his hands. It was, without question, one of the greatest dining experiences of my life.

Every course was extraordinary. The oysters were impeccably fresh. The foie gras was luxurious and unforgettable. The sweetbreads were nothing short of divine. Every bite showcased remarkable creativity, flawless execution, and bold yet beautifully balanced flavours. This wasn't just a meal, it was a celebration of exceptional ingredients and culinary craftsmanship.

As someone who actively seeks out memorable food experiences, Joe Beef has earned a permanent place at the very top of my list. It exceeded every expectation I had imagined and then some.

“There was nothing 'wrong' with any of the components of the meal. The service was at Ritz standard. Food was excellent.

Ate on the inside part of the patio, and it was busy for a school night.

Was hoping the Daniel Boulud part of the menu would dazzle, amaze, inspire. It felt very much like any other Ritz Carlton dinning room, highlighting french cuisine.

My opinion is there are better places for dazzling, amazing meals at half (or less) of the cost in Montreal - just based on our 5 days eating around town..“

“My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

Le Cartet has a wonderful atmosphere, excellent quality food, and very polite, professional staff. It definitely feels top-tier! The only downside was the wait time—we had to wait quite a while to get in/be served. Still, if you have the time to spare, the food and experience make it well worth a visit!“

Their entre and to share were great! Their full menu also has seafood and steak and others. Good wine list they have with decent price.

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“First off, sorry I missed my 6pm and thank god they had a 8:30pm to accommodate a lustful traveler. The Liverpool House was highly anticipated for my trip to Montreal. Walking into the space is comforting, a wine fridge with a Doc Ponds sticker reminding me of my Stowe trips with my friends, a meticulously lit and primed dining room full of patrons and service moving with grace and intention. Olivia served us tonight and she was an absolute pleasure. But the whole team took care of us. The communication between them must be top tier, because everything that should have been done was, and more. We ordered oysters, a sourdough with chanterelles and pear, deviled eggs with mustard seed, and a pork chop with spatzle. Oh and the mashed potato's! I could not have done without them to soak in the sauce from our entree. A orange wine to start from ESP and a paired Grolleau from Olivia with entrees. Eau De Vie and a beer for desert. Beverage matched the food quality with finesse. If you're visiting Montreal and want to have a memorable meal, I highly suggest spending time here. Thank you LH. “Stunning decor and atmosphere for a Tuesday lunch. Quiet, elegant, impeccable service. Food was delicious but too lean for my taste. I had white fish and it could have a been served with a rich creamy sauce to help with the dryness/leanness of the fish. I’m very thin and eat lots of fat to stay thin. Fat-free eating is a hoax“
